All heifers have GeneMax Advantage Scores, which are EPDs based on genomics for commercial Angus heifers. There are over 100,000 Angus sired females in the database.

The GeneMax Advantage data suggests progeny from these heifers will do well on the rail and as additions to the cowherd. It is expected these heifers will be moderate in size once they reach maturity.

1 Higher numbers for GeneMax Birth Weight (BW) scores are desirable and indicate genetics for

$M - Maternal Weaned Calf Value - An index, expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences from conception to weaning with the underlying breeding objective assuming that individuals retain their own replacement females within herd and sell the rest of the cull female and all male progeny as feeder calves.

$B - Beef Value - A terminal index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires.

$C - Combined Value - An index, expressed in dollars per head, which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.

BW - Birth Weight - Higher BW scores are generally more desirable and indicate genetics for lower BW.

WW - Weaning Weight - Higher scores represent genetic merit for more growth.

CEM - Calving Ease Maternal - Higher scores indicate a greater likelihood of unassisted calving due to underlying genomic predictions for maternal (i.e., pelvic size) and direct (i.e. birth weight) effects on calving ease.

Milk - Higher scores represent greater predicted genetic potential for the maternal component of weaning weightwhich favorably impacts progeny weaning weights but unfavorably influences feed requirements, associated costs and possibly expressed future reproductive performance (if feed requirements are not met). As with MW, Intermediate Milk score values are likely optimal for many situations.

CW - Carcass Weight - Higher scores indicate genetic merit for heavier carcass weights transmitted to progeny.

REA - Ribeye Area - Higher scores communicate genomic predictions for larger ribeye areas (square inches) and more favorable associated USDA Yield Grades passed on to progeny.

Marb - Marbling - Higher scores are associated with genetic merit for more marbling and more favorable USDA Quality Grades expected to be transmitted to offspring.

Comment: Lot 34 is a calving ease bull, sired by one of the most used bulls in the Red Angus breed in 2024, that does not give up 1 pound in weaning or yearling weight. His daughters should make excellent additions to the herd. He is also deep red in color with plenty of muscle and depth of body. He is a paternal half-brother to Lot 35.

Comment: Like his paternal half-brother, Lot 35 is a calving ease bull, sired by one of the most used bulls in the Red Angus breed in 2024, that does not give up 1 pound in weaning or yearling weight. His daughters should have the genetics to calve easily and will stay in the herd better than the average female in the Red Angus breed.

Comment: Scurred. Lot 37 is a goggle-eyed 50% Hereford 50% Santa Gertrudis, which is classified as Star 5 by the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International. You need to appreciate the length of body in this bull who is breed average for birth weight, maternal milk and scrotal circumferance. Sure to add pounds to your calves due to heterosis.

He is very gentle and halter broke to boot. Lot 39 is a potential carrier (via pedigree) for delayed blindness.

Comment: Polled. Lot 493 will produce calves with exceptional growth, daughters that stay in the herd with excellent udder and teat characteristics and carcasses that will excel in both muscle and marbling. In fact, his sire was in the top 5 bulls in the 2024 National Hereford Sire Reference Program where 50% of his calves graded upper 2/3rds Choice and Prime. Lot 493 is a potential carrier (via pedigree) for delayed blindness.

Comment: Polled. Here is a calving ease bull, sired by the Hereford calving ease icon Cuda, whose calves will have above average growth at weaning and great carcass value. His daughters will also have excellent udder and teat characteristics. Lot 494 is a potential carrier (via pedigree) for the dilution gene.
