“We demolished most of them,” shotput and 4-by-4 competitor Elsa Sapojnikoff laughed. Track and field functions in a unique system, where each event and division scores for the school. Blach athletes expressed great athleticism, teamwork, and performance and earned sufficient points to rank highly during the season.

Blach concluded its last 2022-2023 sports season of track and field by late May, finishing the year strong with a series of successful wins.

Previously, Blach had four regular meets, including a meet against Lawson, a meet against Columbia and Crittenden, a dual against Kennedy, and finally, a dramatic finish of regular meets with Egan.

The Blach track and field team has a famed history in defeating their rival, the Egan Vikings, for about 20 years straight. “We haven’t lost to them in about 20 years, I believe, and they are pretty strong this year, so I was worried. But it turned out that we did fine, so good job everyone,”said Mr. Kane, 8th grade PE teacher.

Blach Falcons proved to Mr Kane that he had nothing to be worried about. Faithful to this

After their last meet with Egan, those who qualified for the league finals met up a few more times for practice and attended the finals on May 16th and 17th in Graham Middle School. Consisting of four school districts, a total of 11 different middle schools met up to compete.
