At that point everyone already knew Arsenal wasn’t claiming the title, and just to make it worse, Arsenal lost to Nottingham Forest 1-0 Forest just got promoted from the second division to the Premier League (the highest league in England). They literally just avoided relegation from winning that game. That means that they were in 18th place or lower. A team that placed top two should never ever lose to a team in 18th place out of 20 teams.
Even though Arsenal did throw the league in the garbage, they still had an excellent run for the title. Last season they placed 9th, and the last time they placed top two was way back in the 15/16 season. Although I’m not happy about Arsenal’s performance recently, I’m still glad they’re starting to do well again In the past seasons, they’ve placed 5th place to 10th place.
