PLANNING & FEASIBILITY.

BKV Group specializes in law enforcement facility planning and design. We conduct a thorough needs assessment study to determine if remodeling, adding new facilities, or building anew is necessary. With our in-house architecture and engineering expertise, we identify operational and physical deficiencies, showcasing project requirements. This leads to facility planning, including space programming and concept design, with estimated budgets and implementation plans.

SITE FEASIBILITY MASTERPLAN

BKV Group conducts site test-fits for one or multiple locations to assess the feasibility of design concepts. We review and illustrate site constraints like access, zoning regulations, utilities, topography, and stormwater requirements. Multiple concepts are explored to determine building massing, functionality, adjacencies, circulation, parking, and security. The final master plan is developed based on ranked evaluation criteria and preferences.

SPACE NEEDS ANALYSIS

BKV Group assesses your future space requirements by analyzing demographic forecasts and industry standards, refining through discussions with administration, officer surveys, and post-occupancy evaluations. The outcome includes spreadsheets detailing staff growth, workspaces, and support areas for each department.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

BKV Group assists in advocating for new or replacement police stations and garnering community support through various channels like neighborhood meetings, community charrettes, press releases, project websites, and direct mailings. We utilize line drawings, renderings, Virtual Reality goggles, spreadsheets, and charts to clearly illustrate the local, regional, and global benefits, facilitating approvals, zoning changes, or public funding.

Our Public Safety, Police and Fire Departments, we all do things so differently. [BKV Group] did a nice job of listening to us and laying out the buildings that work for our process, for Fridley. We didn’t want to come into the building and start making capital improvements in 3 years. We wanted to live in this and get it right for 50 years and be proud of it and I think we got that done.

Brian Weierke

Fridley Director of Public Safety, Police Chief

The new 6th District Police Station is an important project for the County that will strengthen critical emergency services to our residents in an area that has seen tremendous growth...The new station will help to improve the safety and security of residents and businesses and address our current and future needs for the decades to come.

Marc Elrich Montgomery County Executive

We placed the BKV Group under a very aggressive timeline and they meet or exceeded our timeline constraints with thoroughness and quality outcomes.

Paul Hoppe Wyoming Public Safety Director

This [facility] makes a huge difference in the day-to-day workings of every person who works for the Police Department...We are so grateful for this and it means so much to us.

Steve Todd Detroit Lakes Police Chief

This has been a long and carefully planned process, and we’re grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing it across the finish line. This station is more than just bricks and mortar — it represents progress, collaboration and a deep commitment to serving our community.
