Lent Lunches at St Richard’s, Slindon
By Brian Parkinson
I am not sure whether, at a Lent lunch, one should enjoy themselves, but that is actually what happened for 5 weeks during this Lent! A team of people from St Richard’s, with help from St Mary’s, Slindon, and Binstead, cooked and served and welcomed people from Slindon, Fontwell, Arundel and St Anthony’s, Rose Green and enabled us to raise over £1,100 for DEC* and their work in Ukraine. We were also able to welcome to St Richard’s for the first time The Rev Peter Dyson, the new incumbent at St Mary’s Slindon. The soup must have been good as he came twice! Most welcome. We are most grateful for his support. A great variety of soups were provided: beetroot, tomato, leek and potato, mixed vegetable; all were delicious; one could fill up on bread and water and an apple if needed, as well as tea and coffee. Of course the money we raised will be Gift Aided so making the total over £1,300.

Whilst we hope this will help to bring some comfort to the people of this beleaguered country, we are all praying for an end to this war and peace for its inhabitants.
