WELCOME UNM OHIO AND MICHIGAN I want to take a minute to say Thank You to so many who have supported Ohio through out the year!

First… to our National Director, Jackie Watson! What an amazing woman!

To know you is to love you. Not only do you lead your directors and staff with determination and excellence, but you do it with grace, dignity and faith! I am amazed at every Nationals you even seem to know each and every State title holder by name. That little gesture meant the world to my 2019 Queens and made them feel so special. Your support of UNM Ohio especially has been extraordinary. So honored to be a part of the number one pageant system in the Nation!

Next… to my personal mentor and friend, Deb Landry. Not only do you run your own fabulous UNM systems for the state of Maine…but you are there to answer any questions, and offer assistance at the “drop of a hat” when we all know you have a full plate yourself! Thank you isn’t enough. Your state directors would not be where they are today without your assistance and caring!

To my staff…

Choreographer/ Productions Manager..Mikayla Colwell. You have gone above and beyond your duties outlined. You are a beautiful young woman inside and out. The queens and delegate love you. What a amazing leap from being USA National Miss Ohio 2016 to becoming part of the staff in such an accomplished way. I only hope the National staff doesn’t take you from us too soon!

Operations Manager, Trisha Colwell. You have a full time business and yet find time at all hours of day and night to take on yet another complex position with UNM Ohio. You keep us all grounded, share your love and remind us with faith all things are possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Can’t wait for next year!

To the 2019 Reigning Royalty...

It has been my honor, and privilege to be your state director for the past few months. You always greet me with open arms and hearts. You are all such goal oriented, beautiful young women and you will go far in life! It didn’t matter what I asked of you…you all gave with no hesitation. Promoting your platform, the Crown Cares, and even starting your own organizations and platforms which incorporate all of the message of anti-bullying and kindness. Treating everyone you meet along your journey as very special people! Your beauty radiates with every step each of you take each and every day. I will not say goodbye…but I will say WELCOME! You are each one now members of the of our UNM OHIO LEGACY!!

PATTY HANNIKA Ohio State Director

Originally from San Diego, California, Patty attended San Diego State where she majored in Music with a minor in Law. She was a member of the San Diego Symphony and also a professional cheerleader/dancer with the Rockets Basketball team. In her younger years she participated in the Miss America system and has continued her love of pageantry over the years by coaching and serving as a judge for local, state and national pageant systems. She is currently CEO of her own company and previously owned a successful bakery in Cincinnati for 8 years where her products were served at the Emmy’s in Hollywood, California and featured in Cincinnati Magazine. She has had the privilege of providing her products to well known people such as Nick and Vanessa Lachey and continues a working relationship with Stefan DuBois, editor of Emerging Magazine to the stars. She believes in “paying it forward” and is currently promoting fundraising events with non-profit organizations such as The Crowning Hearts, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the American Heart Association and Kingdom Warriors for the homeless.

Patty is a mother of 6 and a grandmother of 23 grandchildren. Her true passion is helping young people set goals and reach them through guidance, education and a strong faith.

MIKAYLA COLWELL Choreographer/Production Manager Mikayla Colwell has many years of experience both within the dance and pageant industry. Growing up dancing competitively and in college she has won numerous titles throughout her years. Pageantry has been something Mikayla has been passionate about for over half her life. She loves helping others pursue their dreams to be the best version of themselves that they can. When Mikayla is not doing her Award winning choreography, or working behind the scenes at USA National Miss Ohio, you can find her at Bowling Green State University, where she will graduate in December this year with a degree in Apparel Merchandising and Product development with a minor in Marketing. She just returned from her final internship with Home Shopping Network!! With her passion and care for others, she loves to volunteer with the homeless, help those with heart disease, and those on hospice…she has held many fundraisers over the past few years, and is looking forward to working closely with the Crown Cares, UNM Ohio, and the new Ohio queens.

TRISHA COLWELL Production Staff/Operations Manager Trisha Colwell is the operations manager for USA National Miss Ohio. She is an Independent AdvoCare Distributor and has been helping others get healthy for over three years. Prior to that she was an office manager for a chiropractic office for 16 years. She has been married 21 years (this year) to her Husband, Lonnie Colwell, and has two beautiful children. Mikayla, her eldest has been competing in pageants since the age of 3 and she is currently a junior at Bowling Green State University. Her son, Brayson, is entering his first grade of school. She is passionate about helping to manage and operate through problem solving. She is happy to be working with USA National Miss Ohio and is eager to meet all the contestants.

Emcee Kristi Leigh joined the WTOL news team in 2017 as Jerry Anderson’s co anchor at 5, 6 and 11 p.m.

She started on local television at Toledo’s CW, worked as a reporter for WUPW and then WTVG, before anchoring and reporting at WNWO. Kristi has also contributed to WLMB as a co-host and dabbled in radio, co-hosting and writing for the Financial Coach Show on WSPD. However, landing back at WTOL feels full circle for Kristi, as she spent her first college internship at the station.

While her career has fortunately kept her a hometown girl, Kristi loves to wander the world when time allows. The summer following her sophomore year at Maumee High School, Kristi enjoyed a cross-cultural experience, spending an entire summer in Greece - which sparked a love of travel. Since then, she’s been to Italy, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Roatan, Punta Cana and New Zealand.

Kristi is a proud Falcon. She won the Outstanding Broadcast Student Award from the department of journalism at Bowling Green State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

While at BGSU, she earned her Series 7 and later Series 66 to become a contributing investment advisor in the family business.

When not in the newsroom, Kristi’s children, Ivie, Beckam and Liam are keeping her busy.

And in her limited free time, Kristi’s passion for health has led to teaching fitness classes.

Krisiti most recently won The Ohio Associated Press Best Anchor award last year and outstanding Maumee Penta Alumni award.

Judges EMMA ROSE LEWIS Born in the great state of Texas, it wasn’t long before her family moved across the globe to Saudi Arabia. She spent the next few years in Saudi, then moved to Pennsylvania in 2004\. She spent her time in Pennsylvania dancing, figure skating, performing in school and community theatre productions and honing her operatic vocal skills. In addition, she spent a lot of time travelling and has been to 15 countries and 4 continents. She most recently returned from Zambia working on a documentary.

Her life in pageantry experience extends over the past decade. She’s held many titles including 2012 Pennsylvania Cinderella Teen, Miss Greater Cleveland, and in 2013, she was crowned the 2014 USA National Miss Pennsylvania Teen and made the top ten at UNM 2014\. In 2015, she took over as the social media coordinator for USA National Miss and stayed in that position for the next two years. Most recently, Emma Rose competed for the title of Miss Ohio for Miss America and made the top ten.

She recently completed her internship with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and will soon be starting an internship with WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland. She has a lot of upcoming projects including producing a benefit cabaret;producing a documentary on her platform, Put It to BED: End Binge Eating Disorder & More; interviewing people for her blog; working on her digital media business, Simple Media Productions; applying to graduate schools for international journalism; and of course, graduating from Baldwin Wallace University in December. She is thrilled to be back with her UNM family and being a part of the 10thanniversary of USA National Miss. Emma Rose wishes all the candidates the best of luck because she knows how life-changing this system is.

DAVID PETERSON Ohio native Dave Peterson is a parent, businessman, and published author. His career as a professional talent evaluator spans over 20 years while working for some of the nation’s most successful retail companies. Dave is former collegiate athlete.

His interests include travel, music, exercise, volunteer work, and keeping up with current events. A firm believer in continuous improvement, he balanced parenting and a full-time management job while completing his Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree. Dave is honored to participate in events like these that promote inner beauty, life-balance, and teamwork.

Judges KAEYLIN TIGGS At 27, Kayelin Tiggs is an Ohio native. Currently an aeromedical research contractor for the US Navy her research is designed to better understand how our soldiers are physiologically and mentally effected by adverse events that may occur while in extreme environments such as underwater, on a ship, in the dark, in space or while flying. She is a prospective graduate student working to earn a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology where she will be studying mental health and traumatic brain injury. She is currently a contestant in the upcoming Miss Ohio USA pageant with her platform focusing on mentorship and building women’s confidence through strengthening their mental health.

MARIAH PAYNE A first-generation college graduate, Mariah Danyale Payne graduated from Cuyahoga community college while working part time in sales and balancing modeling.

Most recently, she booked her first national commercial for secret deodorant and is a two-time 1st runner up to Miss Ohio USA. In addition, Mariah Danyale works full-time for Huntington bank as a branch relationship banker and is passionate about living with as much financial freedom as possible and encouraging others to have a healthy relationship with money and finances.

Because of Mariah’s personal experience growing up poor in a single family household and struggling with finances as a college student she is passionate about working closely with JA Junior Achievement and Reality Days alongside her company. These programs help kids and young adults manage their finances and teaches them how to save money. Mariah is also an advocate for health education after choosing to go vegetarian to support animal rights and to live a healthy lifestyle. With both her passions being in health finances and health education, Mariah plans to bring more awareness not only to what we put in our mouth’s but to what comes out of our wallets.

When not busy with customers she can be found in a life jacket learning to sail with the (NCWSA) North Coast Women’s Sailing Association in Cleveland or spending time with her family.

Judges NIKKI ARDO Nikki Ardo is no stranger to the dance world as she began her journey at age 6. She grew up dancing competitively for numerous years and later went on to coach, choreograph, teach and judge for many years after. Currently Nikki resides in Kentucky with her family and recently born son, Oliver. Nikki has worked for retail company, Buckle, for over 13 years. This has taken her many places from Baltimore to Nashville. She was the district visual merchandiser for three years. At the moment, you can find her running her own Buckle store in Cincinnati where she has won numerous sales awards for her stores successes.

Nikki is very passionate for people and loves helping and seeing others succeed in all aspects of their life.

HALLIE SACULLA Hallie Saculla is a fashion industry professional living in New York City. She combined her passions of writing and fashion for her career, which has taken her to London, Italy and Germany. Upon graduating from Kent State University, Saculla moved to NYC where she works in corporate communications for Macy’s Inc. A published fashion journalist, Saculla also had her writing in numerous print and digital magazines.

No stranger to the stage, Saculla’s successes in pageantry left her with state and national titles and placements, most notably the honor of holding the National American Miss Ohio Teen 2013 title. With a heart for service, Saculla is a strong advocate of literature among elementary-aged children in her community. In her free time, Saculla enjoys traveling, volunteering with Hillsong Church and spending time with her family .
