Dear Spartans, We hope this final installment of the 2023 Coach Speak newsletter finds everyone enjoying family, football, and some much-needed downtime. 2023 was an amazing year in our program. Your Spartans finished as undefeated state champions and ranked #25 nationally in the final MaxPreps National Rankings. Furthermore, this was our program’s tenth consecutive appearance in the state championship game, an Oklahoma state record. We would like to thank everyone who has had a hand in our program’s continued success. First and foremost, our program has excellent studentathletes who dedicate themselves to excellence in the classroom and on the field. We have an administration and school board who value the role that athletics play in the development of young people. Additionally, we have a staff that that is innovative, hard-working, and loves developing young people. Finally, we have a community that expects excellence and helps provide the resources necessary for this program to be the best at developing student-athletes. It truly takes everyone pulling on the same end of the rope to have the type of success our program has had over the last decade. Our 2023 Crucible chose “Relentless -- Love the Hunt” as its fifth core value and rally cry. This year’s group of seniors demonstrated being relentless each day by preparing with exceptional detail in each facet of our preparation. They had excellent attendance, attention to detail on the practice field, and were engaged in meetings. This year’s team raised the expectation for how Spartans prepare. See December Update pg. 2
