Coach Speak - August 2021 Bixby Spartan Football will be respected as the very best program in Oklahoma at developing student-athletes. Dear Spartans, Football season is here! We hosted Mansfield Timberview for our home opener and Military Appreciation Night on Friday, August 27. The atmosphere at Lee Snider field was electric, and our raucous home crowd got to enjoy an excellent win! Bixby Public Schools were on full display Friday night! Our 2021 Spartans got off to a great start with a 69-14 victory over the Timberwolves. We had many new faces making plays Friday, and eight different players scored touchdowns for the Spartans in the first game of the season. Military Appreciation Night is always a special evening for me and many of our players. For years, my grandfather, a WWII veteran, participated in this great evening. Many of our players got to escort family members onto the field this year. We started Military Appreciation Night back in 2013, and each year, Whitney Allen has organized and led the charge for us. Whitney is a former Bixby Quarterback Club member and a parent of three Bixby Spartan graduates. We would be remiss if we didn’t point out the best band, cheer, dance, and JROTC programs in the state. Each of these programs competes for state championships each year, and helps create the best game-night atmosphere in Oklahoma. We have the largest band ever at Bixby High School this year with 223 members! See August Update Pg. 2
