Bixby, Oklahoma, is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the state, with a population that has more than doubled 2000, and has sustained that pace to the present. Bixby is posed for continued economic growth and was voted the #1 Small City in Oklahoma Magazines "Best of the Best” for 2022 & 2023.
In 2022, Bixby voters approved bonds in support of both Bixby Public Schools and the City of Bixby. The Bixby Public Schools bond issue will provide innovative learning spaces, technology upgrades, and athletic facilities to support the future of the next generation of students. The City of Bixby bond issue will provide funding for construction of a new $43 Million Dollar Performing Arts Center that will accommodate Bixby Public Schools Fine Arts programming as well as establish an entertainment venue supporting Downtown economic growth.
During 2023, the City approved economic development agreements totaling $160 Million in private commercial and industrial investment in the community. The commercial projects are concentrated in the Downtown River District bringing commercial retail space, increased public parking, condominium-style living, townhouse residential units, and a new hotel conference center. A light industrial park development with 12 pad sites on a 33 acre tract is underway west of Downtown on the Highway 67 corridor.
