Royal Columbian Hospital lies at the heart of the fastest-growing health authority in B.C., Fraser Health. The number of people aged 50 to 79, those most likely to need cardiac and neurological services, is growing by 20% every year. Plans are underway to redevelop and expand the Royal Columbian Hospital site, but this expansion will take several years, and something needs to be done immediately to relieve the strain.

RCH is building a new multipurpose suite that will accommodate hundreds more critical cardiac and stroke-related patients a year, as well as other life saving procedures.

GIVING OPPORTUNITY Give This Kid a Start Support the KidStart Mentoring Program Help us provide a kid like her with a volunteer mentor – a caring adult who helps vulnerable children and youth develop the abilities they need to keep themselves on the right track.

WHO WE ARE KidStart is an initiative of PLEA Community Services Society of BC. PLEA specializes in programs tailored to address the full spectrum of problems encountered by children, youth, adults and families who face significant challenges trying to lead constructive lives as part of the community. www.kidstart.ca

The kids are referred by family members, school counsellors, community workers, police, social workers and probation officers.

Mentors are recruited from the community and paired with a young person of the same gender. They get together at least once a week and gradually develop a relationship while riding bikes, hanging out, going to games and movies, reading, playing sports... all the everyday activities that help kids thrive and connect.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver ReStores: A major revenue source, ReStores sell new and used building materials to the public at 50% to 80% off retail. Proceeds from sales support 100% of Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver’s administration costs, allowing all other donations, grants and sponsorships to go toward the cost of building homes.

Corporate In-kind Giving: Suppliers, manufacturers and retailers supply our ReStores with products for sale and products for constructing our homes.

Corporate Sponsorships/Cause Marketing: A great way to give back through a Corporate Social Responsibility and/or marketing initiative.

Sponsor-A-Build Day: Bring your team and experience the fun, camaraderie and fulfilment of working to build a home. The sponsorship revenue helps pay for construction costs.
