Automotive Collision Technology 

In the Automotive Collision Technology program, you’ll train in BSC’s spacious and air-filtered shop and enjoy numerous job opportunities upon graduation in this high-demand field. Training is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, an evaluation board of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Certification is based on compliance with standards developed by the automotive industry. In addition, all BSC instructors have achieved ASE certification expertise.

Automotive Technology technicians inspect, maintain and repair automobiles and trucks that run on gasoline, electricity or alternative fuels such as ethanol. Automotive service technicians’ responsibilities have evolved from mechanical repairs to high-level, technology-related work.

Gain fundamental skills for servicing, repairing and troubleshooting diesel equipment. Learn the basic knowledge to repair and test diesel fuel systems, engines, refrigeration, electronic control systems, power trains, brakes, electrical systems, suspension and air conditioning systems, while gaining valuable experience using various hand tools and test equipment. This program is face-to-face with a required supervised cooperative education internship at an approved facility.

The education also gives you a great foundation to work in the field as an engineer later on. Engineering Technology is accredited by the Engineering Technology Commission of ABET.

The Heavy Equipment Operator program will prepare you to operate and maintain heavy construction equipment. By combining classroom instruction with hands-on training, internships and real-world projects in the operations field, you will become equipped with knowledge on safety procedures, equipment maintenance and operation techniques.

Residential Carpentry involves following building plans and blueprints to construct and repair frameworks such as footings, walls, rafters, decks and stairways, as well as installing kitchen cabinets, siding, drywall, flooring and tile.

In BSC’s program, you’ll learn these skills by building a single-family home in Bismarck. The BSC Carpentry program is accredited through the National Center for Construction Education and Research with endorsement from the North Dakota Associated General Contractors. As a residential carpenter, you’ll specialize in new home, townhome and condominium construction and remodeling.

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning 

New technology and the ever-changing standards for indoor air quality have created high demand for knowledgeable individuals trained in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

(HVAC) service. BSC is a nationally registered training center for sheet metal and HVAC through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Students are placed on a national registry after successfully completing individual module exams and their related tasks.

Welding 

Technology is creating more uses for welding in the workplace and expanding employment opportunities. New ways are being developed to bond dissimilar materials and nonmetallic materials, such as plastics, composites, and new alloys. Laser beam and electron beam welding, new fluxes, and other new technologies and techniques are improving welding results, making it more widely useful.

Thanks to a global boom in industrial manufacturing and the energy generation industry, skilled welders are in greater demand than ever before.

Gain new opportunities and enhance your current career by obtaining skills in Unmanned Air Systems. With this certificate, you will develop skills to manage and plan flight operations, collect and process imagery data for analysis, and apply skills while working directly with business and industry. The hands-on learning can be applied to multiple applications, including agriculture, energy, construction, emergency response, aerial videography and photography.

The Fast Track program at BSC encompasses the non-traditional ways students may have earned college credit, including:

DUAL CREDIT & EARLY ENTRY

Dual Credit students enroll in a college course to receive both college and high school credit. These courses are usually taken at the high school or via interactive video.

Early Entry students enroll in a college course to receive college credit.

These courses are usually taken at the BSC campus or online.

MILITARY

$36-54K AVERAGE SALARY

BSC awards credit for Military Training Programs as outlined by the American Council on Education (ACE).

CLEP/AP

With CLEP (College-Level Examination Program), a student can earn college credit for what they already know on any of 34 CLEP examinations.

AP (Advanced Placement) courses are taken in high school. Students can receive college credit if they earn a 3 or higher on the exam.

PRIOR LEARNING

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) provides an opportunity for adults to earn college credit for knowledge and competencies they’ve gained outside the classroom.
