Accounting (AA) Q
Here you’ll find a well-rounded Accounting program with faculty who teach fundamentals while fostering the kinds of innovative thinking needed to meet the modern challenges of the business world.
Agriculture (AS)
The Agriculture program is for students who will transfer to any four year college in any agriculture discipline. Students will complement their general education requirements with agriculture classes pertaining to their bachelor’s degree.
Art-Visual (AA)
This study of design elements and principles that help you develop an understanding of the visual language as well as aesthetic understanding and its cultural context.
Biology (AS)
BSC prepares you for a career in Biology research that continues to provide the necessary building blocks for developing solutions to human health problems while preserving and repairing the natural environment.
Business Administration (AA) Q
Get an invaluable education in the world of business and commerce. Accounting, economics, marketing, law and ethics and statistics form the foundation for study.
Business Education (AS)
This program provides the first two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree. Curriculum is designed for teaching business education in high school.
Chemistry (AS)
Students will often specialize in a subfield such as analytical, organic, inorganic, physical, theoretical, macromolecular, medical, and materials chemistry.
Computer Science (AS) Q
This is the problem-solving career of the modern world for those who seek to understand the nature of problems and search for creative techniques to efficiently automate their solutions. If this area interests you, BSC’s Cybersecurity degree programs provide the highly marketable knowledge and skills you need for a highdemand job securing data.
Criminal Justice (Transfer) (AA)
This two-year Criminal Justice program prepares you for transfer to a four year college or university. The goal is to gain a basic understanding of the criminal justice field, which includes law enforcement, courts and corrections.
Data Science (AS)
Data scientists find, clean and organize data for companies by analyzing large amounts of complex raw and processed information to find patterns to benefit organizations and drive strategic business decisions. This math-forward program also includes courses in the sciences, statistics, computer science and communications.
Economics (AA)
Students learn to express information in many ways. Curriculum focuses on business law, accounting, statistics, and how principles of micro- and macroeconomics function under various economic structures and policies.
Education-Early Childhood (AA and/or AS)
This specialty offers academic preparation for teaching and administration positions in preschool settings, Head Start, afterschool programs and childcare. Students concentrate on general education classes the first year and add courses in children’s literature, math for elementary teachers, and music and arts activities sophomore year.
Education-Elementary (AA and/or AS)
Elementary and kindergarten teachers introduce children to learning in all its forms. They also observe social development and engage parents in their child’s education. You’ll concentrate on general education classes the first year and add courses in children’s literature, math, music for elementary students, and art/design in your sophomore year.
Education-Secondary (AA and/or AS)
High school teachers help prepare students for life after graduation and their entrance into college or the workforce. Teaching responsibilities may include career guidance. You’ll study secondary education that concentrates on general education classes the first year and add courses in your selected major sophomore year to meet requirements for that specialty.
Engineering (AS) Q
Learn to apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. Discover the link between perceived social needs and commercial applications. You may also want to check into the BSC Engineering Technology program by consulting the Engineering Technology program coordinator for transfer options.
English (AA) Q
These courses provide students the opportunity to strengthen their writing, reading, critical thinking skills and to appreciate the power and beauty of the written word and the knowledge that their voices have value.
Foreign Language (AA)
Studying a foreign language can improve cognitive and critical thinking abilities and provide an advantage for job seekers. BSC offers a Spanish foreign language program.
History (AA) Q
This program offers pre-professional training for teaching, law, ministry, graduate studies in history, civil service careers, museum and archival work, and journalism.
Management (Transfer) (AA)
Management is a necessary part of all business and organizational functions. Managers are leaders, deciders and facilitators. They work alone or as part of a team. BSC’s program develops background for management positions in all areas of business and industry. Curriculum includes courses on fundamental business principles, sales, marketing, electronic commerce, project management, human resources and entrepreneurship. Another option: BSC offers programs in technology fields where managers are in high demand.
Mass Communication (Transfer) (AA)
This program offers video and audio broadcast, as well as publishing and digital elements. Courses cover ethical writing skills, print publication, web publication, news photography and audio-video production. The program offers hands-on professional experience working on BSC’s student print and online news magazine The Mystician, the student broadcast production MystiCast, the student radio station The MYX and the student literary arts magazine Figments of Imagination.
Mathematics (AS) Q
Students have an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to society by helping to solve problems in such diverse fields as medicine, management, economics, government, computer science, physics, psychology, engineering, and social science.
Medical Laboratory Scientist (AS) You will gain extensive knowledge of laboratory tests and data and perform complex tests and analysis. An MLS is also qualified to supervise a clinical laboratory, specialize in specific areas or go into clinical education. Or look into the BSC Medical Lab Technician program where in-demand medical lab tech grads from BSC have a 100% job placement.
Music (AA) Q
Studying music provides two years of basic curriculum for students pursuing teaching, technical or performance degrees, as well as enrichment or arts and humanities credit for non-majors.
Nursing (Transfer) (AS)
Students study chemistry, anatomy and physiology, psychology, microbiology, sociology, nutrition, algebra, and statistics
and complete general education courses required for an associate degree. BSC’s Nursing program is an affordable option that offers a faster route into the high-demand nursing field.
Philosophy (AA)
This study focuses on truth and knowledge, ethics, social and political theory, logic, and the nature of reality. The program provides a base of general education along with introductory philosophy courses.
Physical Education (AA)
This curriculum prepares students to educate training through physical activities selected and undertaken with full regard to values in human growth, development and behavior.
Physics (AS)
This program provides, in concert with mathematics and chemistry, the foundation for work in all fields of physical science and engineering and has applications in biology and medical science.
Political Science (AA)
This study is an excellent background for law, foreign affairs, government service, journalism, politics, and related fields. The program is designed to help all students gain knowledge and understanding of politics and government entities focusing on local, state and federal government structures, issues, statistics and economics.
Pre-Chiropractic (AS)
A doctor of chiropractic is a physician who specializes in the structural and neurological systems of the body, mainly the spine. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between these systems to restore and preserve health and the body’s inherent ability to heal without the use of drugs or surgery.
Pre-Dentistry (AS)
Pre-Dentistry at BSC provides required courses for the first two years of predentistry study. Students planning to enter a school of dentistry should complete a four year college degree before applying. BSC can provide the required courses for the first two years of an appropriate degree, such as liberal arts with a major in biology or chemistry. Applicants to dental schools are selected on the basis of academic performance, letters of reference from instructors, and the Dental Aptitude Test.
Pre-Medical (AS)
The Pre-Medical program at BSC provides required courses for the first two years of study. Medical schools usually require a bachelor’s degree in any
area prior to applying to medical school. To be considered by a school of medicine, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, have experience in patient care and place highly on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Students should refer to the catalog of the medical school to which they want to transfer and modify curriculum, if needed, with an advisor.
Pre-Occupational Therapy (AS)
The Pre-Occupational Therapy program at BSC provides the first two years of core classes for students planning a career as an occupational therapist. An occupational therapist is a member of the healthcare team responsible for helping individuals across their lifespan perform tasks of daily living, work and leisure, all of which are referred to as meaningful occupations.
Pre-Optometry (AS)
Although Pre-Optometry is not a degree, students will complete core requirements to be accepted into an Optometry program. By following the curriculum plan, students will achieve an Associate in Science degree.. Since there are no Pre-Optometry degrees, students are encouraged to identify a desired major. The majors that align closest with Optometry are biology or chemistry but students may major in any area and still apply to Optometry schools as long as pre-requisites are taken.
Pre-Pharmacy (AS)
The pharmacist is an integral part of the health care system and has an increasing role in patient care. The Pre-Pharmacy program at BSC provides the required courses for the first two years of the pre-professional curriculum. Future pharmacists can anticipate career options in a wide variety of settings. The majority of pharmacists practice in community pharmacies, while others work as clinical pharmacists, consultants or researchers. The demand for pharmacists is high and job openings can be found in large cities or small rural communities.
Pre-Physical Therapy (AS)
The Pre-Physical Therapy program at
BSC provides the first two years of core classes for students planning a career as a physical therapist. Physical therapists use techniques to help injured or sick people improve or restore their movement and manage their pain, often reducing the need for surgery or long-term prescription medication. As licensed health care professionals, they are an important part of rehabilitation for patients with chronic conditions or injuries. Q Four year Bachelor degree offered on BSC Campus
Pre-Radiologic Technology (AS) The Pre-Radiologic Technology program at BSC provides the first two years of core classes toward a bachelor’s degree. Radiographers are medical personnel who perform diagnosticimaging examinations, position patients accurately, and ensure production of quality diagnostic images. They work closely with radiologists and may specialize in radiation therapy or technique, such as computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). BSC students should apply to the transfer school as soon as possible and plan their curriculum according to that school’s requirements.
Pre-Respiratory (AS)
The Pre-Respiratory Therapy program at BSC provides the first two years of core classes toward a bachelor’s degree. Respiratory therapists help people of all ages with heart and lung problems of varying severity. They are a vital part of the health team, continually interacting and communicating with other medical professionals, and in very high demand throughout the nation. After successful completion of BSC’s suggested curriculum, students can transfer to a four year institution to complete the junior and senior years of classroom and clinical requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Pre-Veterinary (AS)
Students interested in becoming a Veterinarian can attend BSC for their first two years. Although Pre-Veterinary is not a degree, students will complete core requirements to be accepted into a Veterinary program. By following the curriculum plan, students will achieve an Associate in Science degree. Since there are no Pre-Veterinary degrees, students are encouraged to identify a desired major. It is also important to decide on the four year institution that you will transfer to. Please contact us with any questions that you may have.
Psychology (AA and/or AS)
This program focuses on psychological principles and their application to everyday life situations, understanding the needs of people and their behavior under stress. This development of initial skills assists in a career in human services or professional psychology.
Religion (AA)
This program helps develop skills in critical thinking, analytical writing, public speaking, and cross-cultural communication. Study includes world religions, philosophy, ethics, the biblical Old and New Testament and religion in America.
Social Work (AA)
A profession for those with a strong desire to improve people’s lives. Social workers often create a framework for people to develop capacities and strengths that enhance their relationships and social functioning.
Sociology (AA)
The discipline that explores how people create and maintain society, develop culture, and organize life patterns within families, groups and institutions. Instruction includes a mix of core social science courses, economics and history.
Speech Communication (AA)
This curriculum includes voice and diction and interpersonal communications. A solid foundation in speech is particularly vital in the practice of law, politics, public relations and broadcasting, as well as business and teaching professions.
Study Abroad (AS)
Studing abroad provides a great resume builder, is a valuable experience, aides in the development of cross-cultural communication skills, increases cultural awareness, provides leadership skills and independence, and establishes connections throughout the world.
Theatre Arts (Technical and/or Performance)
The program gives students a setting to explore theatre and the encouragement to learn. The curriculum provides the first two years toward a bachelor’s degree in theater and can enhance professional communication skills that benefit throughout a lifetime.
Undecided Transfer (AA and/or AS)
The first year of college is full of excitement – and sometimes uncertainty. This is where a Liberal Arts program helps. Program changes are common and being a deciding student places you in the position to explore and expand your knowledge and perspective. The broad curriculum contains general education courses required for associate and technical degrees that qualify for transfer to other institutions.
