BSC’s on-campus Mechanical Maintenance program is the first of its kind in the region, preparing graduates to install, maintain, and repair industrial production and processing equipment. A career in Mechanical Maintenance offers an exciting opportunity to have a wide variety of job duties each day and a sense of pride knowing you are a critical piece of your organization keeping equipment and systems operational. Throughout this program, the focus is on safely installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on industrial equipment and systems. Coursework includes the proper selection and safe use of tools, reading prints and parts-manuals, troubleshooting, rigging, mechanical and fluid drives, electrical fundamentals, lubrication, welding and all associated skill sets required to work as an industrial mechanic. This program prepares students for exciting careers supporting the power generation industries, service industries, manufacturing, food & beverage facilities, oil and gas industries including gas compression, refining, biofuels and other industrial facilities.

BSC’s Process Technology program focuses on the machines, technology, and work required to create a product such as natural gas, food products, and more. This online and on-campus program prepares students for employment in operating refineries, ethanol plants, gasification plants, petrochemical plants, and natural gas processing plants. Students are prepared for a rapidly changing industry by leveraging state-of-the-art, interactive learning tools aligned to actual on-the-job tasks. The program covers the safety and technical aspects of operating the plant, the work of a plant operator, and the mechanical and chemical technology needed for working in similar industrial operations. BSC’s Instrumentation & Control Technology program prepares students for careers in any industrial location that utilizes automation. Instrument and control technicians troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, install equipment and systems in order to manipulate measured variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, force, vibration and chemical composition. Students master skills by completing project-based learning by doing lab activities utilizing state-of-the-art instruments. Applying learned theory, mechanical skills, troubleshooting concepts and industry standards; instrumentation and control graduates can work in power generation and transmission systems, hydrocarbon or renewable facilities, food and beverage plants, water treatment facilities, medical facilities, factories, and other industrial locations.
