An intimate elopement was the perfect way for Jacklyn and Caleb to say “I do” among family in the stunning mountains of Glacier National Park. Simple decisions, boho details, gorgeous scenery, and a focus on the reason for the day elegantly captured the pure love between the Mathews.
THE PROPOSAL An impulse decision with friends to download Bumble during Covid led Jacklyn to a happily ever after match with Caleb. After talking online for a few months, the two went on their first date in August of 2020 and started officially dating a week later. Never ones to take the traditional route, the couple bought a house together a year after dating. After dating a few more years, Caleb popped the question while on a trip together at St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands in July of 2024. Jacklyn said yes, and the two began planning for an intimate elopement amidst the stunning scenery of Glacier National Park.
THE ELOPEMENT A lot of thought went into Jacklyn and Caleb’s decision to elope rather than have a traditional wedding celebration. The unexpected passing of Jacklyn’s father in 2023 made it difficult for her to envision a wedding where he wouldn’t walk her down the aisle. “I’m a huge daddy’s girl,” she explains. “He raised me, and I couldn’t think about having a traditional wedding without him.” Another factor was the home construction project they were in the middle of. After planning and building most of the home themselves, the couple felt like taking on an intricate and complex event like a traditional wedding would be exhausting rather than exciting. So, the couple decided to keep their day simple, keep the focus on the marriage, and do their ceremony their own way.
THE LOCATION Glacier National Park has some of the most breathtaking views in the United States, a perfect backdrop for an intimate elopement. Montana and its mountains have always been special to Jacklyn and Caleb. Three months into dating, they took their first big trip together and explored Bozeman into Yellowstone. “We fell in love with Montana,” Jacklyn describes. That trip put a summer visit to Glacier National Park on their bucket list which made an elopement there even more meaningful.
THE CEREMONY The ceremony itself took place on Lake McDonald with mountain peaks surrounding the shoreline. While the guest list was small, the love felt by everyone there was no less. Jacklyn and Caleb exchanged personal vows during the ceremony, and there wasn’t a dry eye by the end. Jacklyn’s older brother, Jacky, officiated the wedding, and for their unity ceremony, the newlyweds took a
wedding dress. While simple, the wedding held many moments of great significance that kept the attention on the “why” behind the wedding day. After the ceremony, the newlyweds went deeper into the park with their photographer, Kylie Farmer, to take stunning portrait photos in the rugged scenery of the highlands. “It was a true elopement other than family being there,” Jacklyn describes. “We kept it pretty simple. There weren't a ton of details which is perfectly us.” After spending a few days in Montana, the newly married couple traveled up to Canada, spending time in Banff for their honeymoon. Everything about their wedding was completely tailored to them and their love story. “Do what you want to do,” Jacklyn advises. “I feel like everyone tells you that, but so many people tried to talk me out of doing a non-traditional wedding… So do what you want to do. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.”

Patience, persistence, and friendship are the themes at the heart of Rachel and Dante’s love story. Their paths first crossed at their CrossFit gym in D.C. Immediately interested, Dante had a mutual friend let Rachel know. However, Rachel was planning a move to Hawaii, so she made it clear the answer was no. “But from that moment, something unexpected happened,” Rachel shares. “A genuine friendship began. We bonded over work, realizing we had a lot in common.” Persistent, Dante tried again, joining Rachel and her friends for brunch. After unsuccessfully ignoring him, Rachel mentioned she was taking her dog Max on a walk to which Dante asked to join. The walk turned into a long conversation which turned into dinner. “By the end of the night, we both knew
something was different,” tells Rachel. When it came time to propose, Dante bought a ring at Do Amore and planned a dinner at the site of their first date. “He was being weird and picking little fights with me, and when we went outside to walk by the water in Georgetown, he proposed. Q&A What was something in your wedding that you knew you couldn't live without? “It was probably our living champagne wall… It was so unique. I can't believe how well it turned out.” What was something that you really splurged on? “The living champagne wall. It was custom made. I didn't even care what the price was because I wanted it so bad. Second thing would probably be my dress.” What was your “something old”? “My ‘something old’ was my great-grandma's wedding ring.” What was your first dance song? “I Was Born to Love You by Ray LaMontagne.” What was the detail that made it your wedding? “Definitely the champagne wall is a big one, and then also we incorporated feathers in our flower arrangements. I wanted to do something very unique with the decor.” Did Taner cry? “Yes, he did as I was walking down the aisle, right away. I think he was emotional even before as he was seating guests.” Which of your vendors went above and beyond? “Hands down Wynter from Created by Wyn. She was our wedding planner. She was just amazing. Every wedding has little things that maybe didn't go as planned. There actually wasn't one thing at ours. Same thing with The Barn, the owner Tia, she is also amazing. She helped me throughout the whole entire process... Those two were over and beyond what I was expecting.” What is some advice you would give to couples getting married? “Definitely enjoy every second of it. Even during the planning, where the anticipation leading up to getting married is stressful, just enjoy every second, because once it's over, you'll miss it.”

Despite living across the country from each other, Meg and Hayden had a chance meeting in a bar in Big Sky. Sparks flew, love deepened, and after a few years of dating, Hayden got down on one knee, and the two began planning their happily ever after. They knew they needed to return to where it all started for their wedding. Rainbow Ranch offered everything they wanted: scenic views, open space for partying, and on-site accommodations. Bright, colorful, fun, and detailed, the Terrals’ Big Sky wedding was unforgettable. Q&A What was your wedding must have? “Music was super important to us. We had a really fun string trio, The Bridger Creek Boys, who played during our ceremony and at our cocktail hour. And then we had an awesome live band, the MAC Band, for our reception.”
What was your something borrowed? “I had a bracelet on that was my grandmother's.”
What was your first dance song? “Love Song by Marcus King”
Was there a detail within the wedding that really made it your own? “I am obsessed with wedding merch, and Hayden is obsessed with koozies. So we had three different koozies, really cute custom postcards, two different matchbooks, and really fun cups.”
Did Hayden cry? “We did private vows before the ceremony, and he 100% cried.”
Who are some of your vendors who went above and beyond? “Two come to mind. The first one is Laney. She did our invitations, and she helped me do matchbooks, cups, postcards, and signage. And then we had a day of coordinator. Her name is Alison Herron, and she was phenomenal to work with.”

Claire and Josiah, both from Montana originally, fell in love amidst the outdoors but got engaged while visiting the grandeur of Scotland, and they aspired to bring both elements of their love story together at their wedding. What could be more perfect for a cowgirl at heart with a love for Bridgerton than a mountain-top wedding in a gorgeous mansion overflowing with ornate details? An outdoor wedding amidst the western landscape of Montana balanced by lush table settings, a glamorous venue, and innumerable elegant details brought together these two often opposed styles in an undeniably stunning event. Q&A What was your wedding must-have? Claire: "I really wanted real plates. I wanted real silverware. I didn't want plastic fold-up chairs. I wanted it to feel like a true wedding where if you were to have it in the castle, it would feel like you're in a castle." What was something you saved on? Josiah: "Most of our table decor was stuff we foraged." Claire: "My mom worked so long. She collected all of the moss, and then we did the florals that were in there morning of. My mom did a ton of work for the wedding. She did all of the cooking, collected all the moss, and did 99.9% of the setup. She killed it." What was your “something borrowed”? Claire: "My 'something borrowed' was my garter. It was originally my mom's, and my aunt made it. It was baby blue, and my aunt had put E plus P on it for my mom and my dad, Erin and Pete. And then on the other side, she also put C and J for Josiah and I." What was your first dance song? Claire: "Stargazing by Myles Smith" What was a detail that made the wedding completely your own? Claire: "The seating chart organized by the names of rivers near where people were from or my horseshoe with my bouquet."
Josiah, did you cry? Josiah: "I did. When I turned around, Claire looked gorgeous, and it was like, oh, wow, this is it. This is awesome. And yeah, so I did tear up a little bit." Which of your vendors went above and beyond? Claire: "Oh, definitely our photographer. Alissa absolutely killed it. Also, our content creator/ videographer Lizz from Bliss and Bloom Media. I'm obsessed with everything that she captured." What advice would you give to future couples? Josiah: "The way we've learned to resolve disagreements is to remember it's less about you versus me or me being right and you being right. It's you and I versus the problem."

Magi and Cole first met at a party with mutual friends in Jamestown. “He asked me to dance, and the rest was history,” says Magi. Q&A What was something in your wedding you knew you couldn't live without? “My biggest thing throughout the wedding process was that I needed everyone there… It won't be the day if everybody's not there.” What's something you and Cole splurged on? “The venue… We also went a little bit over on photos, but that was so worth it because Ashley is fantastic.” What was your “something borrowed”? “I wore my mom's earrings, and I had a handkerchief from my grandma. I also had a ribbon on my bouquet that was also my grandma's on her bouquet.” What was your first dance song? “Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez” What was one of the details of your wedding that really made it yours and Cole's? “I was very big on making everything as personalized as possible. So after the ceremony, everybody got a drink that they wanted… For the people at our head table and reserved tables, we wrote them all notes with a photo of us and them. When we sent out our invites, we wrote, hi, so and so, we have two spots saved just for you.” Did Cole cry? “Yes, he did. He cried when he first saw me during our first look. Then, we did private vows too, and he cried during that. I don't know if he cried down the aisle because I was bawling the whole way, so I couldn’t see.” Which vendors went above and beyond? “Definitely Synclaire Events Venue. Our food was really fantastic from Urban Foods Catering… And Ashley Eide. I would recommend her forever. We also did a dance floor from Twirl Dance Floors, and they were so easy. I had a cake done by Sonder Bakehouse and they did wonderful. All of our vendors were amazing.” What is a piece of advice that you would give to future couples? “To truly take the day in… Have all of your most beautiful people around you and just have fun. Don’t be behind the camera all day because then you just miss out on so much time with people.”
