Each year, students join Bishop Miege from grade schools across the Kansas City metro. They come from both public and private schools across Kansas and Missouri, bringing a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to form a welcoming student body.

academic success College Credit Earned by Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment With one of the most extensive dual enrollment programs in the metro area, students have access to 30 different college-level courses, allowing them to explore their academic interests before graduation. The average enrollee earns between 20-40 hours, and some even graduate with as many as 60. That’s the equivalent of completing one to two full years of college before even stepping onto campus. This not only reduces tuition costs but also opens the door for students to graduate earlier, save on living expenses, and begin their careers sooner. S U M M IT N IG HT Throughout the year students, parents, faculty, and friends of Miege gather for Summit Nights, which are evenings of worship and fellowship centered on growing closer to Christ. Each adoration night also features a student witness talk, offering authentic stories of faith from fellow Stags. After the formal time of prayer and reflection, the evening continues with community fellowship, giving everyone a chance to connect as part of the Miege family.

OMMUNITY • SERVICE ENRICH YOUR LIFE HERD & FAITH FAMILY One of the ways students find their place at Miege is through our Herd System. Every student is part of a Faith Family, a classroom community made up of students from all grade levels. Each Faith Family is organized into one of eight Herds, with four Faith Families in each Herd. The Herd System is designed to help students grow as leaders. Each Herd is led by an elected Executive Captain, with support from Faith Family Captains. Freshmen can step into leadership right away as Herd Representatives. Together, the Herd Council helps guide community life, encourage participation, and build a sense of connection and responsibility across the school. Joseph Michael Pedrotti Innovation Center The Joseph Michael Pedrotti Innovation Center contains learning spaces equipped with state-of-the-art tools and technology, including 3D printers and laser cutters. There are two separate spaces: a Project Studio and an Engineering Lab. Students utilize the two areas for academic investigations to create products and solutions not possible within a traditional classroom. The Project Studio hosts classes from all subjects, giving all students an opportunity to utilize the tools in the space. Tangible products allow students to deepen and enrich their learning across disciplines. 14

MI E G E M EETS N A S A VIA Z O O M Our students are gaining experience that reaches far beyond the classroom. One of those connections came through a Zoom session with Bishop Miege alumnus James Masoner, a propulsion test engineer with Relativity Space at NASA’s Stennis Space Center. Aerospace students shared their rocket models built at 1/72 scale of NASA rockets and asked questions about engineering challenges faced in propulsion testing. James, who went on to earn degrees in aerospace and mechanical engineering at Oklahoma State University, said his Miege experience shaped his approach to problemsolving. The engineering fundamentals he learned, especially CAD and design thinking, gave him a strong foundation for advanced college coursework and his work in propulsion testing today.
His story reflects what the PLTW pathway makes possible: early exposure to authentic engineering challenges, meaningful mentorship from industry professionals, and a clear bridge from classroom learning to careers in aerospace and beyond.

Their leadership and commitment helped Bishop Miege earn recognition as one of only five high schools in Kansas named a PLTW Distinguished High School. Next year, PLTW Cybersecurity will launch as Miege’s twelfth PLTW course, expanding opportunities for students to engage in one of the fastest-growing fields in a rapidly evolving digital world. Creating the Next Generation of Storytellers In its first year, the Lisa Lopez-Galvan Production Studio is making an impact. Broadcast students captured State honors while contributing to a student media program that continues to excel at the highest levels. As part of our State runner-up journalism team, our broadcast team joined our newspaper and yearbook staffs to tell the stories that define the Miege community. From live broadcasts and sports coverage to short films and creative projects, students learn industry-level skills while discovering their own voice as storytellers. Equipped with professional-grade technology and guided by experienced mentors, students who work with the Stag Student Network gain hands-on experience in videography, cinematography, editing, lighting, and production while creating content for real audiences and events.
“I have really enjoyed getting the opportunity to learn how to be a sports videographer from one of the best to do it. It has given me new tools and skills that made me want to pursue filmmaking and directing as a career. Throughout the year, learning more about cinematography taught me how much visual storytelling, camera work, lighting, and editing can impact how a story is told.
