Dear McNamara Team & Family, This past year has been an incredible one at Bishop McNamara High School! We are fully enrolled with 872 students, an admissions rate of 75%, and a wait list of over 50 families. Successes from our 2021 graduating class included admission to top universities in our country, including New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Southern California, and Howard University. Collectively, our graduates earned more than $20M in scholarships! These results are proof that despite the prolonged impact of the pandemic, McNamara continues to offer students a world-class learning experience rooted in our Holy Cross tradition.

Our student experience this year includes navigating an active construction site as the La Reine Science & Innovation Center nears 50% completion – we expect to move in this next summer. Students on campus – some of whom had never set foot on campus as a result of our year and half closure, have quickly readjusted to our favorite places: Senior Hall, the Andy Mona Student Center, and the Tyoka Jackson Field, just to name a few. If you ask a student what they like most, they will quickly remark that the ability to see their friends, in person, has made all the difference in their school day.

We are grateful this year that 99% of our students are learning in person and over 90% are fully vaccinated. The incredible support we have received from our families this year has also ensured our faculty the ability to focus on teaching. This fall, we celebrated two of our faculty members as they were honored as Rookie and Veteran Teachers of the Year. These awards are presented each year by the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools’ Office & the High School Principals’ Association. Congratulations to Ms. Amanda Saunders, our Director of Campus Ministry, and to Ms. Alicia Brown, our St. Joseph’s Resource Specialist. Our rigorous academic vision and subsequent experience relies tremendously on the excellence of our faculty members.

As McNamara Mustangs, we are called to be disciples with hope to bring. This holiday season, please consider how you can continue supporting the students, families, and faculty of Bishop McNamara. Chairman’s Letter Robert N. Summers ’86 Chair, BMHS Board of Directors

Greetings to All Members of the Bishop McNamara Family, The 2020-21 school year showed the resiliency of Bishop McNamara. The previous 18 months were a period we will not easily forget as our lives became a daily adjustment. For this reason, I would like to again commend our faculty and staff for their steadfast efforts in meeting the needs of our students and families. I also want to congratulate the Class of 2021 for all they accomplished despite having their junior and senior years of high school altered by the global pandemic.

The current 2021-22 school year can simply be summed up as a beginning of normalcy as we resume our efforts in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. A major part of this effort is our ongoing development of the La Reine Science & Innovation Center (LSIC). The progress being made on the LSIC has been remarkable. Scheduled to be completed in 2022, the building will feature state-of-the-art equipment and will also offer an array of programs in which our students can excel.

However, there remains work that needs to be done for the LSIC to offer all it promises. The fulfillment of this promise can only be accomplished by securing the resources needed to complete this project. Therefore, I am calling on La Reine and BMHS Alumni to lend your support to ensure the LSIC reaches its fullest potential. No gift is too small, and I am hopeful that giving will become contagious and the school is able to exceed its previous giving efforts. For those of you who decide to give, call on two of your closest friends, colleagues, and/or classmates and encourage them to do the same.

BMHS has grown by leaps and bounds over the last decade. Our trajectory for growth remains high and interest in the school has not waned coming out of this pandemic. We have so much to look forward to this coming year and our faculty and staff remain committed to providing our students with one of the best academic and student life experiences in the region. We look to solidify a reputation of academic excellence in Prince George’s County and beyond. We can achieve this goal with the ongoing support from past, present, and future McNamara families and alumni.

The Board is excited to see what the 2021-22 school year will bring. The year has gotten off to a fabulous start and we look forward to safely gathering at events held at our beloved institution.

I wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday season and I very much look forward to seeing you in person.

Reflections on Returning The theme of “welcome back” resonated in our McNamara hallways as many of our students rejoined campus after being remote for over 500 days. The historic and unprecedented move to at-home learning affected every member of our McNamara community. COVID-19 continues to influence significant school policies, business office strategies, and academic lesson planning; however, we are so grateful to have everyone back together for the 2021-2022 school year. Here are reflections and highlights from members of the BMHS family on our year so far!

“For our freshmen and new students, it’s been challenging to show

them our culture. But we had to figure out a way, so before the school year began, our senior cabinet wrote every newcomer a welcome note, and our staff delivered welcoming gift bags to 215 new students.”

“The first time I saw a student back, it was so beautiful! It was like

seeing water in the desert. My heart literally skipped. I missed them so much. It was such an overwhelming feeling. It’s important for our students to feel that they are respected and loved. I’ve learned all my students’ names. There is a sense of humor and bonding that happens in the classroom, this is so important, and it’s back. Our expectations have changed since pre-March ’20. I appreciate leadership’s guidance over the last year and a half, and I feel okay because I trust this school and the autonomy we have to do what we need at the moment. We’re in our own bubble, which makes me feel safe.”

“I didn’t know how to feel, because I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I

didn’t want sophomore year to repeat itself. This is a valuable year for us, especially as seniors, because of senior events, college acceptance letters, and prom. And graduation too. One thing that is different is that I have to get accustomed to actually studying more efficiently. Time management is harder now. This year, I’m running track again, and I need to figure out a healthy balance between track, school, social life, and mental health. It’s been a challenge. I think I’ve been doing pretty well at it so far. Since my freshman year, I’ve wanted to put letters on my locker, wear the blazer. I wanted my locker to be FILLED with letters. I’m getting there. Just a couple more spaces to fill up!”

Welcome back to school!

“As

seniors, we have a responsibility to show the freshmen and sophomores who we are and what Bishop is about, so we have to set a positive example. My favorite event so far has been Spirit Week. In the past, I didn’t really participate. Now, I’m having this new feeling like I have to live every day to the fullest, and I can’t allow myself to dwell on what I didn’t have and can’t have.”

“We’re

focused on our student’s mental health right now. Health services are working closely with counseling services. Our quiet room has been a great addition. Students have a relaxing setting to take a mental breather, and we’re doing everything we can to keep our students safe. We’re following all Maryland K-12 Covid guidelines, regularly sanitizing our facilities, enforcing our mask mandates, and requiring weekly covid tests for non vaccinated students. Currently, over 90% of our students are fully vaccinated, which is comforting. We’re currently in a good spot, and we’re getting comfortable in our new normal. We’re still recovering mentally and emotionally, but we’re going to be okay.”

I recently joined 18 exceptional Mustangs on the 1st Helicopter Squadron tour at Joint Base Andrews. The students experienced state-of-the-art Virtual Reality Flight Simulators, and were able to see and experience what a 21st century military looks and feels like. This was a small glimpse towards the new and exciting opportunities ahead of them with our new Science and Innovation Center.

It was terrific to see the intersection of computer science, virtual reality, and engineering all come together. Our students were inspired and a student’s inspiration is perhaps the most important part of learning!

We are incredibly grateful for the sacrifices our military members make to keep us safe and to safely transport our government leaders. The 1st Helicopter Squadron is a fantastic example of the leadership and commitment to community so many members of our McNamara community deeply value.

“We didn’t fully appreciate what we had prior to March ’20. Now we

share a deeper appreciation for this community. We’re not the same.

We’re rebuilding, but that’s really exciting. We can’t try to fit our postpandemic world into our pre-pandemic model. We have learned and grown so much as a community these past 20 months. We’ve been forced to learn new things. We’ve been challenged in ways that we’ve never been challenged before. We had to learn about technology, and we’ve discovered new ways to educate our students. We are different now but in a better way. It’s exciting to see BMHS moving forward.

The relationships will always be the same. That’s the core of who we are, and we do that so well. It’s the operations that have changed, and that’s exciting. One thing will never change, Bishop McNamara is and will always be an amazing school full of amazing people, but it’s a new and exciting time for us!”

MUSTANG MOMENTS

On October 4th, the Fine Arts department hosted their first guest artist event of the year. We welcomed actor, singer, and dancer Brandon Victor Dixon. Dixon most recently starred as Collins in “RENT: Live” on FOX and as Judas Iscariot in NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” (Emmy, Grammy, Critics Choice and NAACP Image Award nominations). On Broadway, he most recently starred as Aaron Burr in HAMILTON. Dixon spoke to Fine Arts students about his performing journey, and performed songs from some of his roles. n

The Fine Arts Department also hosted The Lyric Brass Quintet on Tuesday, October 26th, as part of our Fine Arts Guest Artist series.

The Quintet is an exciting ensemble that specializes in crafting programs of unique arrangements and original works for brass that connect with concert goers and always provide a memorable experience. n

On October 4th, Bishop McNamara had the privilege of hosting Cardinal Gregory as the celebrant for our first school Mass of the year. The senior class celebrated Mass in Mount Calvary Catholic Church, and the rest of the school community participated via livestream. The service also featured live music from our Mustangs as part of the liturgy. n

On October 15th, we held our annual fundraiser dress-down day to support breast cancer research. This year our Mustangs raised $3,951.50 to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and everyone had fun “dressing down” for a wonderful cause! n

Bishop McNamara is proud to announce our Teachers of the Year for 2021. Ms. Amanda Saunders, our Director of Campus Ministry, is our Veteran Teacher of the Year and Ms. Alicia Brown, our St. Joseph Program Resource Teacher, is our Novice Teacher of the Year. These awards are presented each year by the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools’ Office & the High School Principals’ Association. These outstanding faculty members will be recognized in an upcoming article in the Catholic Standard. We are so proud of these two wonderful educators! n

Competitive dancer Daneya Celestin ’25 and her coach Danielle Ward ’07 were recently featured as part of the Sports Illustrated “Introducing” series which honors “the next black female athletes on the move”. We look forward to seeing what’s next for Daneya! n Over 800 families attended the Fall Open House on Oct 31st!

Our Student Ambassador, Francesca Smith ’22, gave a moving speech about her experiences at BMHS. Our event coordinator and Director of Admissions Vincent Harrington ’09 shared, “It was exciting being back in person for an open house. I get joy seeing people’s reactions during campus tours. Our students, faculty, and staff did an amazing job showcasing our institution!” n

MUSTANG MOMENTS We were thrilled to welcome the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, Adrienne Jones, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Delegate Dereck E. Davis, Delegate Darryl Barnes, Delegate Nick Charles, and G.S. Proctor & Associates in October. Our guests toured the campus, as well as our La Reine Science and Innovation Center construction site. n

Matt Langrell ’23 has been accepted into the National Symphony Youth Orchestra Fellowship Program at the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The NSO Youth Fellowship Program is an orchestral training program for serious music students interested in pursuing orchestral music as a career. Open by audition only, this full-scholarship program provides high school students in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area the opportunity to study with a National Symphony Orchestra or Washington National Opera Orchestra musician. During Summer 2021, my team kicked off our annual college application workshop, which I led with Herman Frazier, our 11th Grade Counselor. This dynamic three-day workshop is offered to all seniors each summer to get them prepared for the college application process in the fall. Students learned

more about “best fit” colleges, important timelines, application deadlines, scholarships and financial aid, essay-writing tips, and more. We also discussed how to utilize college application websites and document portals.

As an extension of our office, counselors have visited every classroom with the common goal of building connections, establishing academic expectations, and informing students about resources we offer.

Looking forward to the spring semester, we will begin onboarding our juniors to meet with college representatives in order to build their college list and understand the components of what might be a “best fit” college for their unique interests.

Additionally, in the spring, we promote internships and a variety of summer opportunities for which our students can apply.

Throughout the year, the counseling center hosts opportunities for seniors to interact with college representatives during onsite or virtual visits. We are grateful to share that so far this year, more than half of the senior class has already applied to college for the “Early Action” deadline. Our department also developed a multi-week SAT Prep program that has garnered high interest from students and parents alike.

Since his retirement, Mr. Williams continues to give back to his Bishop McNamara family. During the 2020-2021 school year, Mr. Williams endowed two scholarships called the M. ChrisTopher Williams Passports to the Future Endowed Scholarship and the M. ChrisTopher Williams Mount St. Mary’s University Endowed Scholarship. The first scholarship fosters Mr. Williams’ passion for students to take a global perspective about a young person’s place in the world. Recipients receive the financial means to purchase their United States Passport to travel abroad. For many years, Bishop McNamara had been administering Passports to the Future Scholarships from an “anonymous donor” to students at Senior Convocation. Upon his retirement, the school was finally able to reveal that it was Mr. Williams who was the generous benefactor of this gift.

When he announced his retirement in May 2019, his legacy was beyond measure. Hundreds of messages of gratitude poured in from around the country and abroad from grateful alumni and colleagues. Each of them testified to the profound influence Mr. Williams had on their lives. Many of them noted how he had given them a broader vision of the world. They relayed that he taught them to do more than simply “tolerate” other people’s cultures. He taught students that true respect was to “validate” their diversity. In this profound way, he gave his students the competence to see and the courage to act, thus fulfilling a central tenet of what it means to be a Holy Cross Educator.

Williams lived out his vocation to be an effective teacher at Bishop McNamara High School. Drawing on a lifetime of traveling and working abroad to over 100 countries internationally, Mr. Williams’ social studies classes made a profound impact on the lives of countless Mustangs.

Mr. Williams’ second scholarship was developed as a result of his reception of an honorary doctorate in 2001 from Mount St. Mary’s University located in Emmitsburg, MD. Graduates of Bishop McNamara, who were attending Mount St. Mary’s at that time, wanted to honor their former teacher. Like true Mustangs, they rallied together and advocated for Mr. Williams to be honored in this special way by Mount St. Mary’s administration, faculty, and staff. Students who attend Mount St. Mary’s upon graduation are eligible for this scholarship, which helps pay for books and other related materials to offset the costs of a Mount St. Mary’s University education.

Mr. Williams remains eminently grateful that Bishop McNamara gave him the long term opportunity to align his passion for travel with his vocation as an educator as he was the initiator and sustainor of Global Studies for more than twenty years. In an increasingly globally interdependent world and more greatly diversified American population, Mr. William’s notes that Bishop McNamara High School has made “the commitment to inform and empower its students with an informed appreciation for global diversity, affirming that what we share in common is far more greatly important than the differences among us.”

Through his generosity, Mr. Williams continues to further Bishop McNamara’s vision to form empowered leaders, inspired by the Gospel, who transform the world. Bishop McNamara High School thanks Mr. M. ChrisTopher Williams for endowing these two scholarships that help to advance the school’s mission to educate hearts and minds in a dynamic, inclusive Catholic school setting rooted in the Holy Cross tradition. n

“

Live Theatre Returns to McNamara

After over 700 days, live theatre returned to the Bishop McNamara stage in November with “Once Upon a Mattress”. The musical, a retelling of the classic fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea”, featured a smaller ensemble cast and creative costuming to ensure performers were able to do the show together safely.

Theatre Director Mrs. Mary Mitchell-Donahue led the production (and made the beautiful costumes!), with vocal and music direction from Mr. Dominic Traino. Mrs. MitchellDonahue explained, “I chose the show because, after the pandemic virtual learning year, I wanted something fun, happy, and even a bit silly. This show fit the bill.”

Our Mustangs were thrilled to get the chance to perform again, and across our campus, families, fellow students, and staff couldn’t wait to see it. Congratulations to our Mustang thespians on a wonderful production! n

Next up: Pre-production work is already underway for the Spring Play “Seven Keys to Baldpate Inn”, which is billed as a “serious, comic thriller”. The show will run from March 18th-20th, 2022.

Nicole Yeargin ’16 recently had the prestigious honor of representing Great Britain in the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympic Games. In June 2021, Yeargin, who’s ScottishAmerican, clocked a 50.96 in the Women’s 400m run and secured herself a spot to compete for Great Britain in the delayed 2020 Olympic Games. Her relay team came in 6th in the 4x400m Relay Mixed and 5th in the Women’s 4x400m Relay.

Yeargin showed an aptitude for greatness during her time at McNamara, and was a highly competitive WCAC athlete. Her soccer coach, Edgar Rauch, described her as a “hard-nosed, fearless athlete.” She was the first female student in our history to play for the football team, where she made the varsity team as the kicker. She played for the varsity girls soccer team, and she excelled on the varsity track team.

Head Girls Basketball Coach Frank Oliver never coached Yeargin, but he recalls, “She was one of the hardest working student-athletes I’d ever seen. She played varsity football, soccer and ran track. And she was constantly studying and training.

She was such a great lady, she was always on task, and she stayed focused on balancing her studies and sports.”

Yeargin’s time at BMHS helped groom her into the incredible woman and fierce competitor she is now. During an interview, Yeargin explained, “McNamara has taught and shown me how to dress and conduct myself in the ‘free’ world of college, and they prepared me for adulthood. I understand now why it was so important to be on time, organized, and dressed well. While I was in high school, I thought BMHS rules only applied to the world of McNamara, but in reality, those were, in a way, life rules.”

“I knew college was going to be a challenging life experience, but I felt prepared. I took a big risk moving all the way to California to go to USC, but I’ve learned that the higher the risk, the higher the reward. I knew what I had to do to succeed in college, and what I needed to do to make the Olympic team was not going to be easy, but I believed in my dream more than any obstacles or excuses put in front of me and remained focused.”

Congratulations to Nicole on all of her accomplishments! We can’t wait to see what’s next. n

With most of the athletes running cross country for the first time ever, this was an exciting time as a coach. We had a weekly goal to improve times indiv idually and as a team. The strategy worked, and the team improved their times and strategy at every race.

At the 2021 WCAC Cross Country Championships, all the hard work paid off. Six of our leading ladies placed 7th, which is the highest in school history! Although we are losing two amaz ing senior girls, we have an excellent foundation for next season.

Our boys finished strong, placing 9th in the freshman race. The cross country program finished the season with Antoinette Davis ’24 placi ng 25th place out of 76th runners in the 2021 Maryland Priva te School State Championships for the Varsity Race. A testament to the bright future our program has ahead of us.

The BMHS family would like to celebrate one of our extraordinary alums, Kenneth Womack ’20! Recently, ESPN Radio featured Kenneth, a Sacred Heart University sophomore, to talk about his full athletic scholarship for his incredible football and basketball accomplishments.

Sacred Heart University Football program made history in 2021 by being the first team to win two back-to-back NEC Football Championships in the same year. During the spring, Kenneth helped his team win the delayed 2020 NEC Football Championship game, followed by another NEC championship victory in Fall 2021. Kenneth is a true champion - after he helped secure the championship title, he competed against Fairfield University in basketball later that night!

Kenny attests that his time at McNamara set him up for his current success. “The principles that BMHS instilled in me prepared me for college. I always remember that I’m a student first and prioritize my education before my athletic responsibilities. I didn’t appreciate the rules I had to follow while I was a student at McNamara, but now I do. The discipline it instilled is helping me succeed in college.”

Bishop McNamara celebrated our 24th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, October 2nd. This event honors the achievements of athletes from La Reine and Bishop McNamara, and this year our BMHS family welcomed five new individual inductees, as well as one championship team.

Mustangs, let’s learn more about and celebrate our newest Hall of Fame inductees!

The 1981 Championship Softball Team, La Reine High School Bill St. Ledger and Steve Ring coached this softball team to victory! The Royals softball team placed first in the Catholic Girls League, with the only loss being to Bishop O’Connell High during the season’s first game. One taste of defeat was all the incentive needed to spur the Royals on to 12 consecutive league victories for the remainder of the season.

Mr. Chuck Gholston, Class of 1989 Chuck played Varsity Basketball for two years, JV Basketball for one year, and Freshman Basketball for one year. He excelled in Basketball, scoring 730 points during his career and 180 assists. Chuck averaged 18 points, seven assists, and 1.3 steals per game during his senior year. He earned all Eastern States Catholic Invitation Tournament 1st Team and tournament MVP in 1989; Named PG County Honorable Mention; Named to the Capital Classic Preliminary Game.

Mr. Damon Atwater, Class of 1992 Damon excelled on the football field and received numerous accolades. He was selected to the All-State team and played in the Big-33 Football game. He was chosen to the George Michael’s Golden 11 team and recognized as a top 25 player in the DMV. He was Offensive Player of the year in Prince George’s County in 1991, 1st team All-County; 1st team AllWCAC; 2nd team All-Met, and Pigskin Club recipient. In his Junior year, he started on the 1990 WCAC Championship football team. Later, he played for Valley Forge Military Academy and then for the Temple Owls. We’re proud to say that Damon is currently the JV football coach here at Bishop McNamara!

Mr. Torrey Tillman, Class of 1994 Torrey has proven his integrity, discipline, and perseverance as a three-sport inductee with tremendous accolades from each sport. He played wide receiver, tight end, and defensive back in football. He was a three-year letterman, 2-year starter, Maryland All-State (Small School) 1993, 2 times All-WCAC in 1992 and 1993, 2 times All-PG County in 1992 and 1993, Carrer Offense was 68 receptions, 12 touchdowns and 1,078 yards, Defense - 53 tackles, 11 interceptions.

In basketball, Torrey was a 2-year Letterman and All WCAC honorable mention in 1992. And finally, in baseball, Torrey was a four-year Letterman and starter, Team Captain 1993 and 1994 USA Today All-USA Honorable Mention, AllState 1994, All-WCAC 1993 and 1994 All-PG County 1992, 1993, and 1994 with 81 stolen bases! In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Torrey was National Honors Society 1992, 1993, and 1994, received the Presidential Award for Academics 1993 and 1994, and finally received the Kiwanis Award Male Athlete of the Year in 1994.

Ms. Antelia Parrish, Class of 2004 Anatolia was at the forefront of the rise of the Bishop McNamara Girls Basketball Program. She was back-toback 1st Team All-Met as a Junior and Senior; earned 1st Teammate Pl All-County; back-to-back first-team AllWashington Catholic honors; two-time candidate for the Gatorade Stayer of the Year; ranked #3 in USA Today; named Nike All-American; named Honorable Mention All American in Street & Smith.

In her junior season, she was the leading scorer on the 2003 Women’s WCAC Championship Team that finished 32-5.

That 2003 team also won the DC City Title and the Bishop Walsh Invitational Championship. Antelia ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game, scoring in double figures 17 times. She was also the leading scorer on the team that was ranked #1 in the nation for almost the entire 2003-2004 season.

Mr. Aaron Anderson, Class of 2006 Aaron has many accolades in the sport of track and field. During his indoor track season at Bishop McNamara, Aaron was recognized as one of the nation’s top sprinters posting top 10 ranking times in the 55 meter, 60meter, and 300meter dashes, which also led the Washington DC Metropolitan area. He earned a position on 1st Team Washington Post All-Met, 1st Team All-State, and 1st team All-County under Coach Keith Chapman. Aaron captured the 55-meter title at five different meets. His season-best was 6.39 seconds, which he ran at the Kutztown (PA) invitational.

Aaron duplicated his efforts during the 2006 outdoor season.

He once again proved to be the area’s top sprinter garnering 1st Team All-Met for the second time and becoming one of a very few at Bishop McNamara to earn the distinction of being a twosport All-Met athlete. Aaron pulled off the sprint championship double in 2006, winning the 100 meter and 200-meter WCAC titles. Upon graduation, Aaron was the recipient of the 2006 Frank L. Neitzey Award of distinction as the school’s top male studentathlete. In addition to his track and field accolades, Aaron has also been deemed the most dangerous kick returner throughout the WCAC football conference earning 1st Team All-Conference WCAC football as a return specialist.

Honoring the 2021 Tony Johnson Unsung Hero Award The Tony Johnson Unsung Hero Award is presented annually to a member of the Bishop McNamara High School community who most exemplifies all those characteristics demonstrated by Tony Johnson. Tony was a servant heart, hard work, dedication, loyalty, mentorship, faith, academic excellence, stewardship, and a commitment to the growth and development of our student-athletes.

Mr. Chuck Diehlmann was honored as this year’s recipient. Chuck had the vision to bring the BMHS softball facilities to a new level.

It first started with removing a tree stump out of the backstop, bringing in new dirt to the infield, and filling the holes in the outfield. He worked relentlessly that year, taking water off the outfield and dragging the infield to allow the water to drain. The following year he worked with Tony Johnson and our landscaping company to bring in extra dirt to fill in those dangerous spots.

Chuck’s number one concern was to make sure student-athletes had the best facility. You would see Chuck before games, Saturdays and Sundays on the field getting it playable for game day and fixing any issue. Projects also completed during the upgrade of the softball field include: • • • •

Replacing the backstop Installing the outfield fence Building the batting cage Installation of dugouts on both sides of the field

And he’s not done serving our community; currently, he is a volunteer at Bishop McNamara. Thank you so much, Chuck! We appreciate everything you’ve done for Bishop McNamara and our Athletics program. n

Marcus Fitts ’07 recently qualified for the 2022 World Triathlon Grand Final Abu Dhabi – Super Sprint and Olympic Distance in November 2022! He qualified through his finish at the 2021 Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships. Marcus will be representing Team USA and his local club GRIT USA. n

Danielle Ward ’07 was recently featured as part of the Sports Illustrated “Introducing” series which honors “the next black female athletes on the move”. The piece highlighted her work as a local dance coach, and also highlighted current Mustang and competitive dancer Daneya Celestin ’25. n

ALUMNINEWS ALUMNINEWS Reunions The Bishop McNamara and La Reine Classes of 1991 held a joint reunion on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Andy Mona ’82 Center. The event was well attended with lots of hugs and laughs. n

The BMHS Class of 2010 held several events for their weekend reunion. The Class of 2010 held their meet and greet at the Andy Mona ’82 Center on Friday, October 8th. n

Both reunions could not believe the progress at Bishop McNamara and loved the tours and information shared. n
