KENDALL BARNES-LOVEDAY (AP DRAWING) 2025

Kendall Barnes-Loveday is a member of the Class of 2025 and has participated in the BMHS Fine Arts Department for four years. She was a member of the ensemble in Little Women during her sophomore year, Guys and Dolls in her junior year, and Annie in her senior year. She is an active member of the International Thespian Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement program. She is also a member of the National Art Honor Society, where she serves as the President and Chapter Founder. In addition to her involvement in the arts, she is the CoPresident of the World Hub Club Academically, Kendall has earned summa cum laude throughout all four years of high school. She plans to major in vocal performance and minor in marketing or sociology in college.
DARRELL BARR-JONES (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Darrell Barr-Jones, Class of 2025, has been an active member of the BMHS Fine Arts Department for four years. A dedicated musician, he plays trombone in the Wind Ensemble and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. His passion for the arts extends beyond music. He is a digital artist and an ever-evolving student of artistry He participates in AP Studio Art and contributes to Bishop McNamara’s WMAC broadcast journalism publication. As Treasurer of the National Art Honor Society, he has helped foster a creative community, and his work was featured in a Black History Month Video Article Darrell is also a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National English Honor Society, and has earned summa cum laude in both his junior and senior years. Looking ahead, Darrell plans to pursue a degree in public health, journalism, or physical therapy.

MAKENA BLISS (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Makena Bliss, Class of 2025, has been a vital part of the BMHS Fine Arts Department for four years, making her mark in both Visual Arts and Theater Tech. As stage manager for Annie and Clue, as well as past productions, she has played a key leadership role behind the scenes. A highly skilled visual artist, Makenna excels in both digital and traditional mediums and has even illustrated a children’s book She is an active member of the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement (F.A.D.E.) program, National Art Honor Society, and National Thespian Honor Society. Beyond the arts, she serves as President of the Prism Club and Vice President of Card Crazy Club, while also participating in Art Club, Astronomy Club, Poetry Club, and Quiz Bowl. Her coursework spans Drawing, Theater Tech, Advanced Drawing, Color Theory, Musical Production Crew, AP Studio Art, Photography, and Theater Technology. Makenna plans to major in either technical theater or illustration
LEAH BRYANT (AP DRAWING) 2026

Leah Bryant is a member of the Class of 2026 and in her third year he BMHS Fine Arts Department. She was part of Guys and during her sophomore year and is an active member of the nal Art Honor Society, where she serves as Secretary. Her c talent has been recognized beyond the BMHS community her work featured in the 2021-2022 Saint Pius X Yearbook and 014 Largo Art Exhibit. In addition to her passion for the arts, s a member of Mu Alpha Theta and has demonstrated emic excellence, earning summa cum laude every quarter of eshman, sophomore, and junior years

LAUREN FOSTER (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Lauren Foster, Class of 2025, has been an active part of the BMHS Fine Arts Department for four years, making her mark both on stage and behind the scenes. She has performed in Little Women (Ensemble) and The Mouse That Roared (Slavic Announcer, Protester, Fenwickian, Johnson) as a sophomore, Guys and Dolls (Salvation Army Woman) and The Learned Ladies (The Notary) as a junior, and Annie (Sophia, Boylan Sister, Mrs Pugh) in her senior year. Expanding her theatre experience, she also contributed to the Clue production as a sound technician. Lauren is a member of the International Thespian Honor Society, the National Art Honor Society, and her poetry has been featured in a live gallery exhibit She is also involved in the Social Justice Club and Anime Club. Academically, she earned summa cum laude in her junior year. She plans to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and begin her acting career while earning her BFA in studio art.
KAYLA GREENWOOD (AP DRAWING) 2025

Kayla Greenwood is in her third year with the BMHS Fine Arts Department and a dedicated member of the National Art Honor Society. Her artistic talent was recognized when her work was showcased in the Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt Outside of the arts, Kayla serves as Executive Student Body President and President of the National Honor Society. She is also passionate about volleyball and martial arts, and is committed to social justice, mentoring fellows with Operation Understanding D C She founded BMHS’s Pre-Health Careers Club, which offers students hands-on opportunities in suturing, patient diagnosis, and medical specialties. Her dedication to academic excellence is reflected with her earning summa cum laude. Kayla plans to pursue a degree in cognitive neuroscience with a focus on stem cell research, aiming to make a meaningful impact in healthcare and help others live vibrant, fulfilling lives.

SARAH-MAELLE IKU (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Sarah-Maelle Iku, a senior, is a dedicated performer and artist who has brought energy and talent to the BMHS Fine Arts Department. She has taken on leading roles in both Annie and Clue, showcasing iability on stage. Beyond performing, she is an er in the arts, serving as Vice President of the onor Society and Secretary of the International r Society. As President of the Anime Club, she ove for storytelling and animation, a passion she e in college. Her involvement spans musical and spring productions, Acting, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and advanced courses in Drawing and Color Theory. A member of Rho Kappa and the National Honor Society, Sarah-Maelle balances her artistic and academic pursuits with dedication. With plans to major in Game Design and Acting, she is eager to bring her creativity to the next level

ohnson, Class of 2025, has dedicated four years to the BMHS Arts Department, honing her skills as a visual artist. Her artistic ney includes coursework in Drawing, Advanced Drawing, Color ory, Honors Drawing, and AP Drawing, allowing her to explore a ge of techniques and creative expression. With a strong ndation in both traditional and advanced art studies, AJ tinues to refine her craft and develop her unique artistic voice.

ARYANA KANI (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Aryana Kani is a senior and has been an active participant in the BMHS Fine Arts Department for four years, honing her musical talents across various ensembles. She started in Concert Band as a freshman, moved to Symphonic Band in her sophomore and junior years, and is currently performing with the Wind Ensemble in her senior year Aryana is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement program, and the National Art Honor Society. Outside of her musical pursuits, she is currently illustrating a children’s book. She earned cum laude in her junior year and summa cum laude for the first three quarters of her senior year. Aryana plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry while potentially minoring in art and design or band.
GEVARIS LASSITER (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Gevaris Lassiter has dedicated three years to studying visual arts, participating in various classes that include Drawing, Digital Art, Photography, AP Studio, and Yearbook Journalism He excels in both digital and traditional artistic mediums. Gevaris is set to be inducted into the National Art Honor Society. In addition to his artistic pursuits, he is a student-athlete, having played as a defensive linebacker on the varsity football team for four years He intends to enroll at Delaware State University in the fall, where he will focus on Cybersecurity while continuing his football career.

IAN RICHARDSON (AP DRAWING) 2026

Ian Richardson, a member of the Class of 2026, is in his third year articipating in the BMHS Fine Arts Department and is an active member of the National Art Honor Society. Outside of the arts, he is volved in the E-Sports Club, showcasing his diverse interests. Ian as demonstrated exceptional academic performance, earning umma cum laude for the first semester of the 2022-2023 school ear, being named to the Dean's List throughout the 2023-2024 year, and achieving summa cum laude again for the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.

Anthony Schneider, Class of 2025, has spent two years in the BMHS Fine Arts Department, focusing on developing his skills in Drawing and AP Drawing. Through his coursework, he has explored various techniques and artistic styles, refining his ability to bring creative visions to life With a dedication to his craft, Anthony continues to grow as an artist, expanding his talents in visual expression.

BRIYA STANLEY (AP STUDIO ART) 2025

Briya Stanley is a senior, in her third year with the BMHS Fine Arts Department, and a proud member of the National Art Honor Society. She is also involved in the Black Cultural Alliance and The WAAE, where she actively contributes to her community. Briya has maintained strong academic performance, earning summa cum laude in the second quarter of her senior year and cum laude in the first quarter. She plans to attend Towson University, where she will pursue a major in information technology.
MADISON M. TAYLOR (AP DRAWING) 2025


Madison M. Taylor, Class of 2025, has been an active participant in the BMHS Fine Arts Department for all four years, playing flute in the Pep Band for two years. She is involved in the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement program, the National Art Honor Society, and the Black Cultural Alliance. Madison has excelled academically, earning the Dean’s List for the first quarter and summa cum laude for the second quarter. This fall, she will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she plans to major in art history with a minor in painting

Daryle Vanterpool, Class of 2026, is in his third year with the BMHS Fine Arts Department and is also a member of the Stock Investment Club. He has maintained a high level of academic achievement, earning summa cum laude throughout his freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
JAREL WATTS-JACKSON (AP DRAWING) 2025
JarEl Watts-Jackson, Class of 2025, has spent three years in the BMHS Fine Arts Department, exploring a range of artistic disciplines He will be inducted in the National Art Honor Society, and has earned cum laude for his academic achievements. His studies in Color Theory, Digital Art, Drawing, and AP Drawing have allowed him to develop a strong foundation in both traditional and digital mediums. His work was featured in Junior Saints Newspaper. With a passion for creative expression, JarEl continues to refine his skills and expand his artistic perspective. JarEl will be attending Morgan State University in the fall to major in architecture.
GABRIELLE WILLIAMS (AP DRAWING) 2025
Gabrielle Williams, Class of 2025, has an impressive theater resume that includes performances in Once Upon a Mattress, Seven Keys to Baldpate Inn, Little Women, The Mouse That Roared, Guys and Dolls, The Learned Ladies, and Annie. She is part of the F.A.D.E. program and the National Art Honor Society. Her work has been showcased at a summer art exhibition at MICA in Baltimore Gabrielle is also a member of the National Thespian Society and the National Honor Society. Academically, she has earned magna cum laude in her freshman and sophomore years and summa cum laude in her junior and senior years After high school, she plans to pursue a degree in psychology, obtain her mental health therapy license, and ultimately complete a doctorate in psychology.

TIARA BUTLER GOFORTH


Mrs Butler Goforth has been a Lead Visual Arts Teacher for all grade levels in the DMV for seven years. In her first year of service, she was awarded Teacher of the Year at her campus twice at two different schools. She was also awarded Most Inspiring and Most Personable by the student body. Her motto has always been, "I just might be their first introduction to how great God is." She takes great honor in knowing that she has the opportunity to have a positive and powerful impact on someone ' s life
Mrs. Butler Goforth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Environmental & Interior Design with minor in Business Management Studies from Syracuse University - College of Visual & Performing Arts and Martin J Whitman School of Management
JANAY MIDDELTON
Ms. Janay Middelton teaches AP Studio Art 2-D, Advanced & Digital Art, and Yearbook Journalism for Bishop McNamara High School.
Ms. Janay Middelton began her studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and later transferred to Bowie State where she majored in Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts (VCDMA) with a concentration in Advertising Design, graduating in the Fall 2014. While attending Bowie State University, she completed her internship at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, VA
Ms. Middelton has mentored sixth graders at Cesar Chavez Parkside Middle School with Higher Achievement in the District of Columbia. She was a Graphic Designer at Empire Graphics, a local sign shop in Waldorf, where she helped customers with their personal and business advertising needs. Ms. Middelton started her teaching career at Moten Elementary School in S.E. Washington, DC as the Visual Arts Teacher.
