ACADEMIC SUPPORT In addition to classes and faculty office hours, Bishop Lynch High School offers the following resources for students to achieve academic success: Freshman Seminar Class BL offers a unique program especially designed for our incoming freshman Friars. Each freshman takes this popular one-semester course to ensure a smooth transition to high school; receive one-on-one mentorship; focus on smart study skills, classroom technology and time management methods.
Writing Center Staffed by English department faculty and National English Honor Society members, the Writing Center is a one-stop shop for writers at any level and it is a true standout resource for a high school campus. Students can make an appointment to get help on class assignments, college essays, SAT/ACT prep, and more.
Math Success Center Whether you plan to major in rocket science or would rather rock on without a ton of math, the Math Success Center is for you. Staffed by a full-time faculty member who has taught every math course offered on campus, this dedicated center lets you get ahead and get help in mathematics. These two centers were modeled after university resources and are available at no additional cost to our Friars.
Peer Tutoring The National Honor Society offers peer tutoring in a variety of subjects both before and after school. It’s for Friars, by Friars.

Bishop Lynch is also an official testing site for both the ACT and SAT, so our students can sit for the exams in a familiar environment. The top 10 percent of BL students in the Class of 2020 scored an average of 30.5 on the ACT and a 1357 on the SAT.
DUAL ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTORS BL offers one of the largest Dual Enrollment Programs in North Texas. Students in dual enrollment classes are enrolled at Bishop Lynch High School and Eastfield College, simultaneously receiving credit at both levels. Students never have to leave the high school campus because both our instructors and curriculum are accredited at the college level. There is no additional cost for dual enrollment classes and that saves BL families big money on college credit hours.
FAITH LIFE LET’S FACE IT. Getting through the teenage years takes a lot of prayers. Bishop Lynch High School is a faith-filled school community where spiritual life is celebrated, nurtured and studied. Our campus ministry program is alive in the peaceful St. Catherine of Siena Chapel located in the center of campus and anywhere two or more are gathered in His name.
CAMPUS CHAPLAIN Bishop Lynch has a vibrant priest who serves as campus chaplain to guide the spiritual
life of our school community. Our campus chaplain celebrates Mass, administers the sacrament of Reconciliation, counsels students, and provides positive interaction with our Friars – all on-site either before or during the school day.
CAMPUS MINISTER Bishop Lynch is the only Dominican school in the Dallas area, and our campus minister uses the four pillars of Dominican heritage – prayer, study, community, and apostolate – to infuse faith life throughout the school community through Christ-centered and student-driven initiatives.
THEOLOGY TEACHERS Each year, Bishop Lynch students take theology courses to continue their study of Christianity and Catholicism, explore morality, learn about social justice, and give back to the community via Christian Service hours. We welcome all faiths. Bishop Lynch High School is proud of our Catholic Tradition, but approximately 30 percent of our students are other denominations.
LIVING THE MISSION Bishop Lynch High School offers opportunities for students to live the mission and provide Christian witness in the world. BL students are active participants in the annual Diocesan Youth Mission Trip, and BL also organizes spring break mission trips. BL Friar missionaries have made a positive mark in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and closer to home in Abbeville, Louisiana.

INCREASED STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IS IN THE HOUSE! Bishop Lynch High School has increased its level of pastoral care, mentorship and student leadership opportunities all under the roof of the new BL House System. Bishop Lynch is one of the first schools in the Dallas metro area to launch a comprehensive house system, which is beginning its second year of bringing freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior students together to learn and grow from one another.

HOUSE DEANS The BL House System features eight houses and each house is led by a dean. These enthusiastic deans are true champions for student formation. Besides providing overall leadership and energy for their house, deans regularly check on any house member needing extra help or guidance.
HOUSE MENTORS Every house has six mentor groups each led by a faculty or staff mentor. These close-knit communities of approximately 20 students meet for 30 minutes in the middle of the day twice each school week to share personal news, ask questions, pray, meditate, complete service projects, play kickball or engage in another friendly competition – really any activity planned and led by student leaders that promotes care, camaraderie and connectedness.
STUDENT LEADERS Having increased student leadership opportunities is just one of the many benefits of the BL House System. The house system is led by student captains, co-captains, chaplains, and other leadership roles, and each house and mentor group have their own set of elected student leaders. Students stay in the same mentor group and house all four years of their high school journey so they will form lasting bonds with their fellow mentor group and house members. There’s also a race for the Dominican Cup awarded annually to the house with the most points. Students earn points for their house when they attend home sporting events and arts performances, contribute to charitable drives and participate in school spirit days.

HEALTH & WELLNESS Bishop Lynch High School places the health and safety of our students above all else. That’s why BL has a team of caring guidance counselors and medical professionals on site to address our Friars’ well-being – both mind and body.
GUIDANCE COUNSELORS Bishop Lynch’s guidance counseling staff is second to none. Our licensed counselors specialize in high schoolers and understand their stresses, age-related issues and academic support needs. In fact, our counseling staff has experience with learning differences, working with exceptional learners, bullying prevention, anxiety, and depression.
SCHOOL NURSE Bishop Lynch has a full-time registered nurse in the campus clinic to attend to our Friar family’s medical needs and be an advocate for health and wellness issues.

At Bishop Lynch High School, our sports program has a longstanding tradition of excellence that is marked by an overall focus on student formation. With 18 different sports, Bishop Lynch is a leader in the largest division of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. And for the athlete that has collegiate athletic ambitions, more than 50 recent BL graduates have signed to play collegiate sports. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS FROM A (ART 4 CHANGE) TO W (WRITING/POETRY CLUB) and nearly every letter in between, there is a club or organization to fit your interests at Bishop Lynch High School. Think chess, bass fishing, film, philosophy, robotics, table tennis, and so much more. And if there’s a particular interest that isn’t represented, students are encouraged to start their own group.
CLUB MODERATORS Bishop Lynch faculty and staff share many of the same interests as our students and they want our Friars to learn, grow, succeed, and have fun. Club moderators help connect students with their passion projects, introduce them to new hobbies and causes and create space for students to learn and lead outside of the classroom.
TRANSPORTATION BISHOP LYNCH HIGH SCHOOL HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST BUS FLEETS of any private school in Texas. That’s good news because you may be ready to drop “chauffeur” from your resume. Students from more than 100 ZIP codes attend Bishop Lynch, and approximately 25 percent of students ride the bus to and from school on one of 13 different routes. BUS DRIVERS Bishop Lynch bus drivers take pride in driving their routes and getting to know their student riders. Our caring bus drivers work to get our students safely to and from school, as well as provide transportation to field trips, sporting events and other competitions.
TECHNOLOGY BISHOP LYNCH HAS A “BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE” laptop program and provides Microsoft Office365 to ensure the enormous power of technology is in the hands of every Friar student. BL is also a technologically adept campus as evidenced by our Technology Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) classrooms. These innovative classrooms let students create and collaborate like never before, thanks to modular workstations, a teaching wall with NewLine interactive display and built-in computer, wall-mounted televisions, and IdeaPaint to let students write on the walls. Bishop Lynch was an eLearning pioneer. BL regularly used E-Days for inclement weather and other designated off-campus learning before March 2020, so it was a smooth transition to ramp up to a rigorous blended synchronous learning platform.
TECH HELP Computer help is just an email away, thanks to Bishop Lynch’s dedicated team of technology professionals. With online how-to videos and individualized consultation and troubleshooting assistance, BL’s tech team makes sure our Friars are powered for performance.

At Bishop Lynch, our school leaders are true visionaries for education and welcome positive daily interaction with our Friars. BL employs a president and principal model for the school where the president serves in a chief executive officer role and the principal works as chief operating officer.
