23 - 25 Sep Various Locations A program of short theatrical dance works by emerging UK choreographers. Si Rawlinson showcases his new solo Finding Words and West Midlands based Marius Mates and Andrei Roman present Irreversible. Plus the results of the 5 day research lab.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Open Rehearsal FREE

Come and watch the company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in their daily rehearsal. This is an exciting opportunity to see how a performance comes together. The rehearsal will be in practice clothes and working lights. It will be interrupted by the Rehearsal Director with comments and amendments as the dancers prepare for the evening performance.

Southside Producers Presents… New Street Station TAKEOVER 24 Sep, 12 - 4pm New St Station Independent artists will be taking over the Eastern Plaza and John Lewis with performances influenced by Hip-Hop. This exciting afternoon is a must-see!

Remote is a new piece of exhilarating and risk-taking theatre, which was created as part of a Frantic Ignition 4-day residency with The Old Rep. Ignition is Frantic Assembly’s free UK-wide training programme for young men aged 16-20. As part of the year-round Back Up programme, any participants who take part in a trial are offered further training with Frantic Assembly and The Old Rep, regional partner for the West Midlands.

25 Sep, 4 - 4.30pm Birmingham Hippodrome Spoken word under a new light! This is a battle concept borrowed from the famous Breakin’ 1vs1 - 7 to Smoke format. £150 cash prize.

Verbalise 25 Sep, 3 - 4pm Birmingham Hippodrome Verbalise participants have undergone a summer of intensive workshops with Beatfreeks, to bring you the best of Birmingham’s spoken word to B-SIDE!

Masters of the Ceremony: Finale 25 Sep, 8pm - late The Patrick Centre £10 The finale of B-SIDE Hip-Hop festival. Curated by Break Mission and Juice Aleem, this will be the apex of the whole festival with a musical line up to shout about. Performers include Dj Supreme (Hijack/Rhyme Syndicate) & Curoc (Son of Noise), Chester P, Juice Aleem, Phili n Dotz, RTKal, Trademark Blood n Triksta, SicNis & Redbeard, these Masters of Ceremony are more than ready to help B-SIDE take over Birmingham and even the Universe.

Hosted by MC and rap artist Juice Aleem and DJ Silence (Break Mission), we kick off the weekend festival with a conversation and Q&A that explores Birmingham’s independent and vibrant contribution to global Hip-Hop culture, from its pioneering MCs, rappers, graffiti artists, word poets, producers and b-boy/girls, to the present day issues faced in developing the scene and artform in Birmingham and across the Midlands.

Featuring creative artists from Birmingham and all over the globe!

AfroFlux is an exploration of Afrofuturism and its many connections to the Hip-Hop subculture. We will be shining, sharing, reflecting and celebrating all that Afrofuturism is and can be through films, talks and performances.
