WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Bugsy Malone is a musical based on the play written by Alan Parker, with words and music by Paul Williams. It has been directed by Sean Holmes with chorography by Drew McOnie. Learn more about the cast and creative team here. The show lasts two hours with a 20 minute interval. The recommended age is 6+. Please note: this production usually contains strobe lighting, stage smoke and live gunshots. During the Relaxed Performance there will not be any strobe lighting. The stage smoke and live gunshots will remain.

A Chill Out Space is available during the Relaxed Performance in Suite 1, with sensory lights and toys. A Quiet Room is available during all performances on the second floor. SONIC STORY


VISUAL STORY ACT 1

A mobster named Roxy Robinson is "splurged" by members of a rival gang, using cream shooting "splurge guns". Throughout the show lots of characters get "splurged" and fall to the ground. Each time someone is splurged, a photographer takes a picture of the scene, then after a moment the characters stand up again. At Fat Sam's Grand Slam, there is dancing and singing whilst Fat Sam rants about the shooting of Roxy. He blames Dandy Dan, his rival from another gang.

Blousey Brown comes in as an aspiring singer and actress, she has come for an audition but Fat Sam is too distracted to see her. Bugsy Malone meets Blousey and wants to be her friend. He really likes her, and wants to help her out.

Bugsy returns to Fat Sam's to arrange a new audition for Blousey. Fat Sam's girlfriend kisses him just as Blousey walks in. Blousey is jealous of this but continues her audition performance. She is hired by Fat Sam and leaves quickly after her audition not wanting to speak to Bugsy.

Now, most of Fat Sam's gang have been splurged so he hires Bugsy as a driver to take him to a meeting with Dandy Dan. The meeting is a trap, but Bugsy helps Fat Sam escape and is paid $200 by him.


INTERVAL

There will now be a 20 minute interval. You can leave your seats to use the bathroom, get some refreshments or use our breakout room. You can also stay in your seats if you would prefer.

Bugsy and Blousey reconcile and he promises to take her to Hollywood. When he returns Fat Sam's car to the garage he is robbed and his money is stolen. Bugsy is saved by Leroy Smith, who scares the robbers away. Bugsy sees that Leroy has the potential to be a great boxer and introduces him to a boxing coach Cagey Joe.

Fat Sam seeks Bugsy's help to get real splurge guns after one of his loyal gang members Knuckles is accidentally splurged by his own bad splurge gun. Bugsy resists at first but Fat Sam offers him $400. Bugsy and Leroy follow Dandy Dan's men to a warehouse to see where the guns are being stashed. Bugsy recruits a large group of workers and they successfully capture the warehouse and take the crates of guns.

At Fat Sam's, there is a big fight with splurge guns and cream pies, covering everyone with cream. After a moment, they all stand up and perform the final song.

During the final mega mix song whole the cast sing and dance. During this part, you can stand up to dance and sing along with them or stay seated. You can also take some pictures and videos of this moment.
