NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
1 pair each 4.50mm and 4mm Knitting Needles and 4.50mm Circular Needle for Jacket, 1 pair 4.50mm Knitting Needles for Hat, or sizes that give correct tension. A yarn needle; 3 stitch holders and 3 buttons for Jacket.
18 sts and 25 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 4.50mm needles. These garments have been worked on bigger needles than normally recommended.
BACK AND FRONTS (worked in one piece to armholes) Using pair
4.50mm needles, cast on 84 (92-108) sts. Knit 3 (5-9) rows garter st (1st row is WS). Beg patt - 1st row (RS) - Knit.
2nd and foll alt rows - Purl.
3rd row - K5, * yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, K6, rep from* to last 7 sts, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, K5.
5th row-K3, • K2tog, yfwd, K1, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, K3, rep from• to last st, K1.
7th row -As 3rd row. 9th row - Knit.
11th row - KS,• yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, K6, rep from• to last 3 sts, K3.
13th row-K7, * K2tog, yfwd, K1, yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, K3, rep from* to last 5 sis, K5.
15th row-As 11th row. 16th row- Purl.
Rows 1 to 16 incl form patt.
Rep rows 1 to 16 incl once more, thus completing patt.
Work O (4-8) rows stocking st, or cont until work measures 14 (17-20) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.
Divide for Back and Fronts and Shape Raglan ArmholesNext row - K21 (23-27), turn. Cont on these 21 (23-27) sts for Right Front.
Next row - Cast off 2 sts, purl to end= 19 (21-25) sts. Next row- Knit to last 2 sts, K2tog = 18 (20-24) sts.
Note - When turning, bring yarn to front of work, slip next st onto right hand needle, yarn back, slip st back onto left hand needle, then turn and proceed as instructed. This avoids holes in work.
Next row (WS)- P10 (12-14), turn.
Next and foll alt rows - Knit to last 2 sts, K2tog. Next row- PS(10-12), turn. Sizes 6/9 and 12/18 months only-Next row-P(8-10), turn. Size 12/18 months only - Next row- PS, turn.
All Sizes - Next row - Purl across sts to end, dee one st in centre = 15 (1619) sis.
Leave rem sts on a stitch holder.
With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts, Next row - Cast off 2 sts, K40 (44-52) (incl st already on needle), turn.
Next row - Cast off 2 sts, purl to end = 38 (42-50) sts. Cont on these 38 (42-50) sts for Back.
Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 32 (34-40) sis rem.
Work 1 row, inc 1 (0-0) st/s in centre = 33 (34-40) sts. Leave rem sts on a stitch holder.
With RS facing, join yarn to rem 21 (23-27) sts for Left Front Next rowCast off 2 sts, knit to end = 19 (21-25) sts.
Dec one st at raglan edge in foll alt row once= 18 (20-24) sts. Work 1 row.. Beg turnings - Next row- K2tog, KS (11-13), turn. Next and foll alt rowsPurl to end.
Next row-K2tog, K7 (9-11), turn.

Sizes 6/9 and 12/18 months only - Next row- K2tog, K (7-9), turn. Size 12/18 months only- Next row- K2tog, K7, turn. All Sizes -Next row-Purl, dee one in centre= 15 (16-19) sts. Leave rem sts on a stitch holder.
Using 4.50mm needles, cast on 25 sts. Knit 3 (5-9) rows garter st (1st row is WS), inc 3 sts evenly across last row= 28 sts. Beg patt - Work 32 rows patt as for Back and Fronts, inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 6th (6th-4th) row until there are 34 (38-42) sts. Cont in stocking st (beg with a purl row) until sleeve measures same as Back and Fronts to raglan shaping, ending with a purl row.
Shape Raglan - Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows = 30 (34-38) sts. Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row until 24 (26-28) sts rem. Work 1 row, dee O (0-1) st/sin centre= 24 (26-27) sts. Leave rem sts on a stitch holder.
Using mattress st, join raglan seams, noting that tops of sleeves form part of yoke. With RS facing and using circular 4.50mm needles, purl across all sts from stitch holders= 111 (118-132) sts.
Note - Work in rows, not rounds. 1st row (WS)- Knit.
2nd row - Purl. 3rd row - Knit. 4th row - Knit. 5th row - Purl.
6th row-K6, • K2tog, K5, rep from •to end= 96 (102-114)sts. 7th row - Purl.
Work 4 rows purt fabric (beg with a purl row). Work 2 rows stocking st (beg with a knit row).
14th row - K6, * K2tog, K4, rep from • to end = 81 (86-96) sts.
15th row - Purl.
Work 4 rows purl fabric (beg with a purl row). Work 2 rows stocking st (beg with a knit row).
22nd row- K6, * K2tog, K3, rep from* to end= 66 (70-78) sts.
23rd row - Purl.
24th row - K2, • K2tog, K2, rep from • to end = 50 (53-59) sis. Change to 4mm needles and beg neckband. Knit 4 rows garter st. Cast off loosely knitways.
With RS facing and using 4mm needles, knit up 51 (55-59) sts evenly along left front edge. Knit 5 rows garter st. Place markers for 3 buttons, first mar1<er at centre of neckband and then 3rd mar1<er at beg of yoke and then remaining marker evenly spaced in between.
RIGHT FRONT BAND
With RS facing and using 4mm needles, knit up 51 (55-59) sts evenly along right front edge. Knit 5 rows garter st, working buttonholes matching each marker placement in 3rd row as follows- Myfwd, K2tog”. Cast off knitways.
DO NOT PRESS. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
Using 4.50mm needles, cast on 66 (74-82) sts. 1st row (RS) - K2, * P2, K2, rep from* to end. 2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 5 cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row and inc 2 sts evenly across last row = 68 (76-84) sts.
Beg patt - Work 24 rows patt as for Back and Fronts of Jacket, dee O (2-4) sts evenly across last row= 68 (74-80) sts.
Shape Crown -1st row - K2, * K2tog, K4, rep from• to end= 57 (62-67) sts. 2nd and foll alt rows - Purl.
3rd row - K2, • K2tog, K3, rep from • to end = 46 (50-54) sts. 5th row - K2, • K2tog, K2, rep from • to end = 35 (38-41) sis.
7th row-K2, • K2tog, rep from• to last 1 (0-1) sUs, K1 (0-1) = 19 (20-22)sts. 8th row - Purl.
Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st seam, join side edges tog to form centre back seam.
