NEEDLES AND EXTRAS

One pair 5.50mm Knitting Needles, or size that gives correct tension.

A yarn needle.

TENSION 17 sts and 21 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 5.50mm needles.

BACK Using 5.50mm needles, cast on 81 (91-99) sts.

Beg patt – 1st row (RS) – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

2nd row – Purl.

Last 2 rows form patt. ** Cont in patt until work measures 15 cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row for sewing up purposes.

Cont in patt until work measures 27 (28-30) cm from coloured threads, ending with a purl row.

Shape Armholes – Keeping patt correct, cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows = 73 (83-91) sts.

Cont in patt until armholes measure 23 (24-25) cm, ending with a purl row.

Shape Shoulders – Cast of 16 (20-24) sts at beg of next 2 rows = 41 (43-43) sts.

Beg Collar – 1st row (RS) – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

2nd row – P1, * K1, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep last 2 rows until collar measures 5 cm, ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off.

FRONT Work as for Back to **.

Cont in patt until work measures 27 (28-30) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.

Shape Armholes – Complete as for Back.

FINISHING DO NOT PRESS. Using a flat seam, join shoulders and side edges of collar. Using mattress st seam, join side edges, beg at coloured threads on Back. Darn in all ends.
