By mobilizing, we help protect others. There is no question that a flu pandemic is a real risk. Veolia Environnement is preparing for that eventuality. To marshall the resources to deal with a pandemic, so we can do our best to protect the health of our employees and their families, is a primary responsibility of the Company. I consider it a top priority and I am committed to ensuring we do everything necessary to achieve that objective. Because the services we provide - water distribution, waste collection and treatment, energy supply and transportation - are essential to public health and to enable cities to function, Veolia Environnement needs to be even more committed. Indeed, it is vitally important, should the threat become a reality, that we are able to maintain continuity of service. This guide describes the best practices to follow in the event of a pandemic, to maximize safety for all. Its effectiveness depends on the willingness of every one of us to follow and pass on its simple instructions and to ensure they are implemented, if needed. By protecting ourselves and mobiizing to ensure continuity on our services, we will help protect others. HENRI PROGLIO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,Veolia Environnement

PROTECTING YOURSELF IN THE EVENT OF A FLU PANDEMIC

I PLAY MY PART TO PROMOTE PUBLIC HYGIENE Indirect contact (such as a hand on a door knob) is all it takes to contract a flu-type virus. The rules of public hygiene can reduce the number of microbes (in offices and cars, on working surfaces, …).

I DISINFECT ALL COMMONLY USED OBJECTS

I REGULARLY VENTILATE ENCLOSED SPACES

I USE TRASH CANS WITH LIDS WHENEVER I CAN

I DISPOSE OF MY PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT as instructed

If I don’t have a trash can with a lid, I use a double bag

I GET INFORMED

If I can’t make it to work any longer, I know who to contact to avoid jeopardizing the continuity of essential services in my unit

I learn to assess my own health and know what to do if I recognize symptoms

I get informed about the flu pandemic organization in my unit

I follow the instructions from public authorities

Every occupation has its own challenges, so keep informed!
