Weaving a Community: Knots, Loops and Stitches This instruction booklet is dedicated to my architecture thesis. all photographs and written text are my own to document my labour and process throughout crocheting with a continuous string of yarn.

The meditative craft, like crochet, utilizes a tool and a hand to loop a thread into infinite possibilities. It is the only handmade practice that cannot be replicated, or mass produced by machines, unlike knitting and weaving. This connection between the material and the human sparks for community building by creating together. As a community, designing a space shows strength in collaboration and learning the craft.

A singular knot weaves embedded concepts that explores three aspects: fabrication and notation, structure and comfort, and community and mental health. This framework documents how to crochet using the notational conventions while creating patterns. Researching precedents and methods of form finding structures. And creating an educational workshop to teach the craft and design comfort spaces.
