SCHOOL OF PHARMACY AND PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

2022-2023 ANNUAL REPORT

2022-23 ANNUAL REPORT: DEAN’S MESSAGE Binghamton University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has seen growth and great achievements in the past year. We’ve had faculty members in the spotlight at the national and international level and a new drug, AGAMREE® (Vamorolone), developed by Dean Kanneboyina Nagaraju and Associate Dean Eric Hoffman, has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the EU’s European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approval for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). AGAMREE® is the first and only drug to have received full approval in Europe and the United States to treat patients with DMD. This has been a culmination of almost 20 years of collaborative work, from the concept to approval. In addition, construction is nearing completion of the 18,000-square-foot Research and Development Center connected to our pharmacy building. The R&D Center, which will be completed by the end of 2024, will further support our drug development efforts. Academically, PharmD students excelled in a national-level competition, we saw our third class of Doctor of Pharmacy students graduate, and have enrolled the second cohort of students in our master and PhD programs in pharmaceutical sciences. We can now confidently say we are firmly established as a leading school for students wishing to pursue graduate degrees in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. This 2022-2023 annual report is a comprehensive look at the research presentations, publications, and funding of our faculty, showcasing their exemplary achievements in an ever-changing world. Know that we remain committed to providing exceptional learning experiences to our students, even as we achieve the highest levels in our research initiatives. Sincerely,

Kanneboyina Nagaraju, DVM, PhD Dean and Professor
