Lots of new faces in 2018 primary races TOM LUTEY tlutey@billingsgazette.com
There’s no shortage of enthusiasm among legislative candidates in the 2018 primary election. There are 10 contested primary races in The Gazette coverage area. Democrats in particular have more contested races than in previous years — and no incumbents are facing primary challengers. That means there’s a host of new names on primary ballots this year. Republicans are challenging each other less this primary season, a welcome change for incumbents who in past years have faced a spring battle before advancing to November. From Billings to Sidney, there are first-timers eager to represent their communities in the Montana Legislature. Please see PRIMARIES, Page 2
