Georgia, a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia, is a former Soviet republic that’s home to Caucasus Mountain villages and Black Sea beaches. Consider Georgia as a natural gate way in the shortest path between Asia and Europe, logistics development of the country were never stop. There are two exisiting sea port in the country : Batumi, Poti.

The next sea port development in Analkia, will be the first deep sea port in the country. During the meeting with the CEO of Anaklia Development Consortium, they have a vision to transform the rural site, Anaklia into a smart city.

A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is an area in which the business and trade laws are different from the rest of the country.

To encourage businesses to set up in the Georgia as part of the New Silk Road for “One Belt One Road”, many financial policies are introduced. SEZs are usually located within a country’s national borders, and their aims include increased trade balance, employment, increased investment, job creation and effective administration.

In the Captial of Georgia, Tbilisi, a new SEZ were marked in there by a Private corporation “Hualing Group”. It was founded in 1988 in China, Urumqi.

The investment of the Hualing Group in Georgia started in 2007. The project of Hualing International Special Economic Zone invested by Hualing Group Corporation is the largest investment project by China private enterprise in Georgia. A solemn construction ceremony was held On July 7, 2012, in Tbilisi.

The project, located in eastern and central part of Tbilisi and near Tbilisi Sea, is 420 hectares (6300 mu) in area coverage, with 180 million dollars of investment on the first stage and five years of construction period. It will be constructed as the largest and highest grade of modern commercial and trade city including market area, processing area, residence, tourism, trade, sale, goods exhibition, catering, hotel and entertainment.

An intermodal container is a large standardized shipping container, it is 2.43m wide, 2.59m high and come in two lengths; 6.06m and 12.2m, designed and built for intermodal freight transport, meaning these containers can be used across different modes of transport – from ship to rail to truck – without unloading and reloading their cargo. Therefore, no one exactly knows what is within the container.

Container is repeated form used to frame and support the Logistics Infrastructure.

Increasingly complex system behind the movement and management of goods within containers is to continuously work towards a greater level of efficiency. Computers and algorithmic planning, increasing the size or moving warehouses and reorganizing cities etc. These continuous enhancements show no constraints or limit to maximizing efficiency and profitability.

“Containerization” becomes a global influence, now most of the infrastructure in the city build/ design around “Containerization”.

Modularity and standardization, making it a manageable, quantifiable and predictable element within a complex system of transportation, supply and demand and consumerism.

Based on that, there are significant changes in the morphology of cities, especially for a city to be able to cater for a deep sea port. The whole city planning will be morph according to the logistic networks & infrastructure to allow for the flow of goods & inhabitants in the city.

Georgia as surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains range. The Lesser Caucasus range, which runs parallel to the Turkish and Armenian borders, and the Surami and Imereti ranges, which connect the Greater Caucasus and the Lesser Caucasus, create natural barriers that are partly responsible for cultural and linguistic differences among regions.

Georgia has about 25,000 rivers, many of which power small hydroelectric stations. The largest river is the Kura River, which flows 1,364 km from northeast Turkey across the plains of eastern Georgia, through the capital, Tbilisi, and into the Caspian Sea. The Rioni River, the largest river in western Georgia, rises in the Greater Caucasus and empties into the Black Sea at the port of Poti.

Soviet engineers turned the river lowlands along the Black Sea coast into prime subtropical agricultural land, embanked and straightened many stretches of river, and built an extensive system of canals. Deep mountain gorges form topographical belts within the Greater Caucasus.

Enguri River originates in northeastern Svaneti near the region of Racha and plays an important role providing hydroelectric power to the area. It’s also acting as a Natural border between Anaklia and Abkhazia.
