Stjernsund Castle
Beautifully situated on a peninsula in Lake Alsen, Stjernsund Castle is a neoclassical gem considered to have some of Sweden’s best preserved 1850s interiors. Expert guides can tell you about the magnificent hall, the guest apartment of Prince Gustaf, known as the “Singing Prince”, and the servants’ cellar. Check out Prince August’s billiard room and its lovely veranda. You may even feel the presence of Mrs. Cassel, the wife of the last owner of the castle, as you stroll through its chambers and corridors.
There are guided Princess tours of the castle for the youngest visitors. The wellkept castle park is worth visiting year round. You’ll find a carriage museum, gift shop, café and restaurant, as well as a dairy museum. Royal activities and an exhibition in celebration of Carl XVI Gustaf’s 50th year on the throne in 2023. Knalla mine museum in Zinkgruvan
The mine museum in Zinkgruvan brings the history of the area to life with exciting exhibitions about mining – past and present. Hear the roaring of the rock drill and watch the old mining train chug along to Mount Trollberget. You’ll find machinery, vehicles, clothing, equipment, minerals and photo exhibits, and, last but not least, a giant model of the mighty mine beneath our feet.
