INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these simple steps to silk screen on glass!

1. Position silk screen onto glass and mask the area surrounding the design with art tape.

2. Mix a few drops of Glass Medium with Silk Screen Medium until it reaches a peanut butter consistency.

3. Scoop the mixture along one edge of the silk screen and spread with a squeegee.

4 .Gently remove the silk screen to reveal your transferred design.

Glassline is designed to be fired on or between layers of glass. It is compatible with most types of glass from float to 90 and 96 COE. A metal tip is recommended for fine line drawings. To airbrush or spray, Glassline should be thinned with water.

Best fired to 1500 degrees F but may be fired lower or higher depending upon your desired results. Shake well before use. Clean and thin with water. Glassline is lead free and food safe. Packaged in 2 oz bottles.

Below are instructions for firing 12” dia. or less and 3/8” 96 COE glass. Please prepare to adjust the firing program as needed for your specific kiln, size of project, and type of glass. Add 20º to all ‘top’ temperatures for 90 COE glass.

These schedules focus on a slow ramp up and ramp down. The life of the mold is prolonged by gradual changes in temperature. This guide will also protect your glass from bubbles and devitrification.

Please refrain from opening your kiln until the temperature is below 100 F.

Slumpy’s Ceramic Mold Care Instructions • Upon receipt of your mold, check for any possible damages that may have occurred during shipping. If your mold is damaged during shipping, notify Slumpy’s within 5 days of delivery.

• Clean your mold if debris is present or it will adhere to the glass during fusing or slumping.

• Primer should be applied to the mold before slumping glass into the form. Slumpy’s carries a variety of mold primers. Be sure to carefully follow all manufacturer’s instructions for applying, drying and curing the primer prior to slumping or fusing.

• Before firing, make sure base of mold is not in contact with residual glass on kiln shelf. If the base contacts glass during firing, the mold may fuse to the shelf and damage the mold and/or shelf. Also check for an uneven shelf surface. Uneven distribution may

cause tension within the mold and may weaken or cause the mold to break while in storage or during firing.

•Avoid thermal shock caused by subjecting mold to drastic changes in temperature over short periods of time. Avoid raising temperature of molds from ambient conditions to hot kiln environment too quickly. Slumpy’s recommends not opening the kiln prior to 100ºF (37ºC).

• Store molds with care to prevent damage. Store in a dry place. Avoid stacking molds. Possible damage to mold and/or degradation to primer layers may occur. If stacking molds is necessary, take care to prevent possible damages by use of a barrier between molds.

Allow mold to cool before storing.

• Clay slumping mold can fire up to 2000ºF (1100ºC).

Cindy is a semi-retired health care professional that discovered stained glass many years ago. She continues to challenge herself with the many fun things that can be done with stained glass, especially fusing and lampworking.

Lisa Stansbury is a Southern Arizona glass artist. She is a self-taught artist in oil, watercolors and charcoal, but after she served a 15 month tour in Iraq, she yearned for something new….GLASS! Her most favorite genres are desert and anything in the patriotic realm.

Marianne is a Fused Glass artist living in the Pacific Northwest. Marianne’s love of her gardens and verdant surroundings is evident in her glass art.

Her pieces celebrate the interplay of color and light, changing throughout the day in concert with the sun.

After leaving the pharmaceutical development community in 2009, Amy was faced with a huge life change.

She decided to switch gears from her scientific passions to her artistic passions. The science and art of warm glass became her focus.

I first started working with stained glass with my mother. She talked me into taking a fused glass class and I was hooked. The best thing about fusing glass is never knowing what my piece will look like till I open that lid on my kiln.

I personally design and create every item in my home glass studio. Many are limited editions; often only one of each design is ever made. I have earned a reputation for unique design, attention to detail and personalized service.

Julie was born in Victoria Australia, she moved to the US in 1999. She has always been interested in art but did not start making fused glass until she retired. She is self taught & enjoys making one of a kind pieces with all types of glass, particularly Iridescents.

I am a mostly self taught fused glass artist. I enjoy working with glass as you can always be surprised when you open that kiln lid! I love the way certain colors react with each other and try to utilize these reactions in a lot of my work.

I started my glass journey making lampwork beads about 20 years ago and eventually progressed to kiln-formed glass. I love to create glass with organic, floral, and mandala-type designs, using various molds, enamels, and frit.

I have been obsessed with glass since I took stained glass classes about 30 years ago. Only been fusing for about 10 years and I love it. There isn’t a day that I don’t go out to the shop and play with glass. I want to try every technique that there is!!​

Nancy, a retired US Army engineer and geologist, ventured into the kiln-formed glass world shortly after retirement. She enjoys experimenting with a wide variety of techniques but loves the engineering aspects.

Tom Linek is a Retired Army Officer with 30 years of service. He was a professional photographer for over 40 years. His first glass project reproduced one of his photographs in a panel with outstanding results that catapulted him into the world of kiln-formed glass art.
