WAINO’S WORLD
Adam Wainwright’s legacy with the St. Louis Cardinals stretches far beyond his impressive pitching stats. On the field, he’s carved his name into Cardinals lore: a World Series champion, multiple All-Star appearances and a fierce competitor known for his emotional fire. His longevity is remarkable, a reliable presence on the mound for nearly two decades.
But Wainwright’s impact transcends the win column. In his 18-year career, he became a vocal leader, a mentor to younger pitchers and a constant source of energy for his team. His passion for the game and the city of St. Louis is infectious, creating a bond with fans that goes deeper than baseball.
Off the field, Wainwright’s character shines. He’s known for his genuine interactions with fans, his dedication to charitable causes and his strong Christian faith. He embodies the values of sportsmanship and community involvement that resonate with Cardinals fans, and has worked tirelessly over the years
to inspire the next generation of MLB players to become more involved in charitable pursuits in their local communities and internationally.
In 2020, he was honored with the MLB’s prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.
“This is the crown jewel of any award I have ever received,” Wainwright said at the time. “But, to me, it’s more than just an award. What Mr. Clemente stood for, and the way he lived his life on and off the field, goes beyond what any award could fully embody. ... I feel very blessed to receive the Clemente Award, and I will continue to try and live up to his standards as long as I live.”
While statistics speak volumes about his pitching prowess, it’s the way Wainwright has led, inspired and connected that will solidify his legacy. He’ll be remembered not just for his dominance on the mound, but for being a true Cardinals icon who left an indelible mark on the franchise and the city he calls home.
“Adam Wainwright is a very special human being. It was him that encouraged me to find that philanthropic side of my life, cause that’s where true happiness comes is when you’re helping out those in need.”
— MICHAEL WACHA PITCHER“In Adam’s life, his impact on and off the field, and his passion on and off the field go hand in hand. He gets so much respect from his teammates and other guys in the game of baseball, and that allows Big League Impact to have the impact that it does.”
— KYLE GIBSON PITCHER“Waino is one of those guys who stays up at night thinking about how he can make the world a better place.”
— SCOTT LINEBRINK WATER MISSION“(Waino) really embodies the spirit of a true servant leader.”

Bigger Than Baseball: Adam Wainwright Meets Mauricio Dubón
Each year, our fans fantasy kickoff event at Busch Stadium kicks off with a one-of-a-kind gameday experience, which includes an on-field experience followed by a Q&A session with participating St. Louis Cardinals players. In 2023, that Q&A revealed a heartwarming story about BLI’s impact that captivated those in the audience.
BLI founder Adam Wainwright spoke about an encounter he’d had earlier in the season with a young Astros player, Mauricio Dubón, who reached out and asked to meet up after a game.
“He said, I’m from this little tiny village in Honduras and your charity Big League Impact came in in 2014 and built a clean water project in our village, and
our lives were never the same,” Waino recalled, referencing a trip he took with Water Mission.
Waino continued: “I left there thinking, you know what, this game of baseball has provided so much more than just wins and losses and championships for a city. It’s also provided clean water. It’s also provided thousands of meals, roofs over heads, medicine, shelter, all the basic essential needs — things that we take for granted, a lot of people didn’t have that, and he was directly affected by it. And he wanted to tell me thank you and he wanted to say thanks to the organization.
So, I just want to say, you’re making a difference. What we’re doing here in this room today means so much more. You’re amazing, you’re helping us do wonderful work, and we’re going to continue to do that. We’re going to continue to reach those tiny villages all across the world because of guys like you.”

CHARITY IMPACT
THE LITTLE BIT FOUNDATION
At Big League Impact, our mission is simple: Help people in times of need. Since 2013, our organization has partnered with MLB players and their fans to raise money and awareness for a variety of causes, such as childhood cancer, global poverty and access to clean water.
During the 2022 holiday season, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and his wife, Amy, donated $15,000 to The Little Bit Foundation, a St. Louis-based nonprofit working to empower students to achieve their academic goals and dreams for the future by breaking down barriers to learning for students living in poverty.
A portion of the funds was used to provide socks, shoes and underwear for 625 students at Moline and Koch elementary schools in the Riverview Gardens School District. The remaining funds were used to provide coats, hats and gloves for an additional 312 students at Hancock Place Early Childhood Center and Patrick Henry Downtown Academy (St. Louis Public Schools). The items were distributed via Little Bit school boutiques, where kids were able to try on their new coats and shoes to ensure the perfect fit, as well as select new hats, gloves, socks and underwear of their liking.
“I have a student who came to school in tears because his feet were so uncomfortable after walking to school
in shoes that did not fit,” said Deborah Rogers, the principal at Patrick Henry Downtown Academy. “He came straight to the office and asked if he could meet with ‘the people who helped him the last time.’ Eventually, we connected the dots and realized he was asking for help from The Little Bit Foundation, who got him clothes the previous month. We ordered him shoes and they were there the next day. He literally skips to school now.”
Added Ariel Turner, the social worker at Koch Elementary: “When the kids were getting shoes, some danced — they were so excited about the bright colors that everyone wanted and the bright color shoes, too.”
“A STUDENT CAME TO SCHOOL IN TEARS BECAUSE HIS FEET WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE AFTER WALKING TO SCHOOL IN SHOES THAT DID NOT FIT. ... WE ORDERED HIM SHOES AND THEY WERE THERE THE NEXT DAY. HE LITERALLY SKIPS TO SCHOOL NOW.”
HELP ONE NOW: FERRIER SCHOOL
Big League Impact VP Kyle Gibson has been a longtime supporter of Help One Now, a nonprofit that empowers families in developing countries in an effort to end extreme poverty.
The funds Kyle has raised in recent years have helped provide ongoing support for classrooms at the school Help One Now has established in Haiti’s Ferrier Village as a refuge for orphaned children who have been rescued from traffickers or who are at a high risk of being trafficked.
“We are so grateful for your long-term support and life-changing commitment to supporting the Ferrier, Haiti community,” says Lamar Stockton, Help One Now’s director of development. “Ferrier Secondary School has become an integral part of the community. It has provided an opportunity that never existed in the region and a pathway to transforming an entire community for generations to come.”
According to Help One Now, in 2023 the Ferrier Secondary School empowered more than 700 students, employed 40 teachers and other staff members, provided 265,000 nutritious meals and supplied nearly 800 people with access to clean water. The school continues to expand, and more
space is needed to continue its important work in the community.
“We are proud and grateful for the work being done at Ferrier Secondary School, and we are working to continue to grow this impact,” Stockton says. “We’ve broken ground on a brand new wing of the school, which will greatly increase the number of students we are able to serve, as well as create a stable and safe environment for students in the midst of the current crisis in Haiti.”
“It’s been a really neat opportunity and it’s given me a chance personally to live out my faith during the season. To be able to reach out and serve others is so gratifying for all of us.”
— Infielder Tommy Edman
Big League Impact’s Mission 3:18 initiative empowers MLB players to give back during road series with one-day service opportunities that promote positive change in the communities they visit throughout the baseball season.
Mission 3:18 supports our broader goal of helping pro athletes use their platform for good and establish a legacy of service that transcends the game of baseball. Learn more at www.bigleagueimpact.org/mission318.

About Our #ALLWIN Campaigns
Our #ALLWIN campaigns invite MLB fans to help us make an impact, one swing at a time! Each campaign offers an exciting opportunity for baseball fans to team up with their favorite MLB players and make a difference in the world. Players pledge a donation to a specific charity for every game their team wins during the regular season; additionally, players may also pledge donations based on their individual stats throughout the season (i.e., strikeouts, stolen bases, etc.).
By donating to an #ALLWIN campaign, fans can support a wide range of charities that are making a positive impact in their communities — while also being entered to win fun prizes.
In 2023, we helped players from the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Arizona Diamondbacks and Oakland A’s rally their fans to raise $538,000 for over a dozen charities.
