Thank you, 102.7 FM family!
Our hearts are completely full as we look back on the incredible success of our end-of-June fundraiser. When we kicked off our special live broadcast at 8:00 am, we knew we had an ambitious goal ahead of us. By the time the clock struck 4:00 pm, we were left absolutely speechless by the wave of support that poured into the station.
To our listeners: your generosity is simply unbelievable. Every phone call, every online donation, and every word of encouragement blew us away. You proved once again that you are so much more than just an audience you are the heartbeat of this station. Your financial support directly powers the music, news, and local programming you rely on every day.
We are deeply grateful for your trust and your investment in our shared community.
We also want to shine a massive spotlight on our phenomenal announcers. For eight straight hours, your energy, passion, and dedication kept the airwaves alive and inspiring. Thank you for pouring your time and talent into making this broadcast such a joyful and memorable event.
Because of all of you, 102.7 FM can continue to be the voice of our community. Thank you for standing with us, for giving so generously, and for tuning in. We could not do this without you.
Programming Subcommittee
Commencing with a Program Subcommittee Terms of Reference it was decided that the members will include, Tony, Andrew for logistics, Leroy for training, Alf, and Leanne.
The subcommittee will address news content quality, programming matters, and proposed changes to news and reading programs.
There will be regular monthly meetings held.
Music Sourcing for Ethnic Programs
Presenters for ethnic programs have been waiting for music for about three months.
A proposal was made to create a stationowned iTunes account funded through the Ethnic Grant. This would allow presenters to legally download high-quality music for their programs.
The programming subcommittee will discuss account setup and management details.

Following the success of the GiveNow website for our fundraiser, we are exploring the how to utilise the membership program at Giv-

Current members will be transferred to the program over the next few weeks.
Studios and Infrastructure
Both on-air studios are now working.
An alternative audio path has been installed and is operational to maintain the transmission as the main link to Mt Kynock will be down when the roof is replaced and the antennas are removed.
Thank you to Andrew, Brandon, and Dale Sharp for their significant work in getting both Studios operational.
Constitutional Changes
Retirement Rule
Remove the clause requiring 50% of executive members to retire at each AGM.
This was considered impractical for the current new executive.
This allows executive members enough time to learn their role and initiate changes.
Term Limits
Members may serve two consecutive two -year terms, for four years total.
After four years, they must step down from that role for at least 12 months.
AGM Details
The originally proposed AGM date of 11 August was moved to allow the required 30-day notice period. The new proposed AGM date is Tuesday, 25 August, 2026.
Graham Higgins has agreed to be returning officer and will choose a deputy. Nomination Forms are available from the office.
Lucas Taylor
Profile
Lucas Taylor is a young community leader from Toowoomba who is passionate about supporting people with disability and empowering young people. He lives with his Nan, Pop and cousin and comes from a large, close-knit family, with three older sisters, one brother, and 14 nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Clifford Park State School in 2025, Lucas has built an impressive record of community involvement. He volunteers at 102.7FM Toowoomba Community Radio, where he works alongside his supervisor, Steven Paull, helping to promote community issues and give people a voice through local broadcasting.
Lucas also serves as the Director and President of Disability Voices Toowoomba, advocating for greater inclusion and opportunities for people with disability. His commitment to the community extends beyond advocacy. He works two days a week at a local business and also supports young people as a Youth Mentor with MindWare Psychology when opportunities arise.
Previously, Lucas worked with We Love Literacy, assisting people with high support needs to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. This experience strengthened his passion for helping others achieve greater independence and confidence.
Dedicated to continuous learning, Lucas is currently completing a Certificate III
in Health Support Services Assistance, further building his skills to support others in meaningful ways.
Whether through community radio, disability advocacy, youth mentoring or everyday support, Lucas is proud of the positive impact he has on the lives of others. His enthusiasm, compassion and commitment to serving his community continue to make him a valued advocate and role model in Toowoomba.

Radio 4DDB Toowoomba (now 102.7 FM) was officially launched in the 1970s and was first broadcasted out of a temporary room at the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education (DDIAE), which is known today as the University of Southern Queensland (USQ).

Danny served as both a prominent onair personality and the long-time station President.

For many years, he was the familiar morning voice of Toowoomba, hosting the popular Easy Over Breakfast show from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, which mixed local news, community announcements, and easy-listening music.
Gary Morley and Cliff Roberts
This duo spearheaded the station's dedicated regional music outreach as the original hosts of FM Country.
Together, they built a massive following throughout the Darling Downs.
