As we come to the end of another year, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every one of our announcers and volunteers for your dedication, passion, and commitment to 102.7 FM.
Community radio exists because of people like you people who generously give their time, energy, and skills to keep our station alive and vibrant. Whether you are behind the microphone, working quietly in the background, supporting outside broadcasts, or helping in ways that often go unseen, your contribution truly matters. You are the heart of 102.7 FM.
This year has not been without its challenges, but through it all, your resilience and teamwork have ensured that we continue to serve our listeners and our community. Your willingness to step up, support one another, and share your love of radio and music has made a real difference.
As the Christmas season approaches, I hope you are able to take some time to rest, reflect, and enjoy the company of family and friends. May this festive period bring you peace, joy, and renewed energy.
Looking ahead to the New Year, I am confident that together we can continue to strengthen 102.7 FM, grow our audience, and build on the strong sense of community that defines who we are. I look forward to working with you all in the year ahead as we continue to share stories, music, and voices that matter.
On behalf of the Board, thank you once again for everything you do. I wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and rewarding New Year.
Could all announcers contact the office during office hours to advise us of their availability during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. This is to allow for alternate shows or replacement presenters to fill any vacancies.
We would like to welcome St Vinnies as our new sponsor for birthday calls offering shopping vouchers at their store. Recent/upcoming interviews include the Yazidi community, Clive Berghofer, and Dennis Wagner.
I would like to welcome Cathy back to her regular Wednesday spot.
Andrew aims to have the new software system fully operational for 2026.
The station will remain open for 2 weeks during the break for announcers to practice.
Steven Paull JP (Qual) President

Clive Berghofer

most remarkable self ries an influential property developer, community leader and philanthropist whose life has been defined by hard work and generosity. Born in Toowoomba, Queensland, in 1935, Clive left school at just 13 and began working in sawmills before moving into construction and land development. Starting with modest beginnings, he built a thriving property business that saw him develop thousands of housing allotments and become one of the wealthiest individuals in regional Australia. Wikipedia
Clive’s impact extends far beyond business. He served his community in local and state government, including as an
alderman and as the Mayor of Toowoomba from 1982 to 1992, as well as representing Toowoomba South in the Queensland Parliament. Wikipedia
However, he is perhaps best known today for his extraordinary philanthropy. Over many decades he has donated well over $100 million to medical research, health services, emergency care, education and community organisations. His giving to the Queensland Institute of Medical Research including a single donation of $50.1 million, the largest individual philanthropic gift in Australian history led to the institute being renamed QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in his honour.

102.7 FM respects and values the principles of diversity, access and equity and the benefits of their application throughout its culture, organisational structure and broadcast programs.
In order to best meet and support the needs of the Darling Downs Region, 102.7 FM strives to ensure that all stakeholders have equal access to relevant local information, services and opportunities, and that its culture, organisational structure and broadcast programs are aligned with diversity principles.
Diversity refers to the visible and invisible differences that exist between people, such as gender, culture, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, age, economic status, language, faith, nationality, education, geographical location and family/marital status. It also refers to diverse ways of thinking and ways of working.
102.7 FM is committed not only to complying with all applicable laws and aspires to set an example for the local
community by promoting and embracing diversity and cultural competency, and by fostering anti-discrimination awareness and behaviour amongst staff and volunteers in our commitment to achieving social justice and a thriving community media sector.
102.7 FM is committed to protecting the environment. We are continually looking for new ways to reduce the environmental impact of all our activities. We encourage our community and partners to do the same.
The president and Committee are responsible for ensuring that the environmental policy is implemented. However, all volunteers and employees have a responsibility in their roles to ensure that the aims of the policy are met.
The Environmental Action Plan is currently under review but does include this training module.
If you are not enrolled on our training platform, email steven@bigdog.au to gain access to the training modules.
