Hello everyone my name is Steven Paull and welcome to my first edition of LiveWire, the magazine for members and listeners to 102.7 FM Community Radio.
I bring extensive experience in community engagement, media production, and educational initiatives, with a strong track record of delivering multi-platform projects that achieve measurable outcomes.
Since 2006, I have been actively involved in producing content for magazines, radio, podcasts, and online platforms, with a focus on amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities, including people with disability, young people, and culturally diverse groups. My work has consistently demonstrated the ability to connect with diverse audiences, manage multiple stakeholders, and deliver content that is accessible, inclusive, and impactful.
My leadership is underpinned by strong project management, collaboration, and cultural competency skills. I have built lasting partnerships with media outlets, schools, community organisations, and local stakeholders, ensuring that projects are not only delivered successfully but also leave a sustainable legacy.
With a commitment to inclusivity, cultural safety, and continuous improvement, I am confident in my ability to lead 102.7 FM to achieve its goals and create lasting benefits for members, sponsors, and the wider community.
With the incredible assistance of Andrew Chapman and Leroy Doran we will have a new on-air system called PlayOutONE Pro which supports commercial-grade scheduling, unified library search, and simplified button-based operation. Systems will run in tandem for learning, and Windows 11 upgrades and user logins will be introduced. Voice tracking enables pre-recording and remote shows. Traditional operations (CDs, microphones, USB) remain.
Communication will be improved through regular quarterly announcers meetings with the opportunity to voice your opinions and discuss any changes.
The station magazine “LiveWire” will be re-introduced to provide information for members, announcers, listeners and sponsors and will be available online as a readable magazine or to download as a PDF document to print or read.
Training on legislative, software usage, professional development and station policies will be developed at no cost to the trainees to ensure that they receive the latest training to meet their needs.
Tony Wigan and I will be out in the community promoting 102.7 FM Community Radio

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for JB’s Chapter III a Night at Rumours International!
Chapter III and The Gowrie Gals had the dance floor pumping with 60s bringing the community together for a great cause, raising $11,666.55 for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

We were so very fortunate to secure the time and skills of John Elliott to take portrait pictures of our announcers to use for promotional purposes. If you didn’t have your picture taken let the office know and we’ll see when John is next in town and make a booking for you.

John Elliott is a world acclaimed photographer, country music devotee, broadcaster and writer. How lucky were we to have this person take our photos.

Wednesday 29 October 2025
Steven was invited to be the MC for the Rotary Foundation Dinner representing 102.7 FM with special guest Tony Wigan and motivational speaker Peter Shann Ford on the topic of how to successfully use Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Peter had worked with Tony Wigan as a radio journalist on local radio before joining the Seven Network in Sydney as a reporter, news reader and then coanchor on Sunrise. In 1981 he moved to the USA and joined CNN.
Peter Ford is now better known as the inventor of NeuroSwitch, a device that helps those with neurone damage, spinal cord injuries.
A great night was had by all attending.

We're TYP.G [type-gee], a group of young individuals that strives to promote youth empowerment, leadership and peace engagement in our community.

Sarmad, Chair of TYPG, and Carrie Qu, Project Manager, spoke about what you can look forward to at the symposium insightful sessions, meaningful connections, and a chance to engage with our youth counterparts from Singapore!
Enjoy tea, coffee, snacks, and lunch all provided with compliments from the organisers.

102.7 FM is proud to be out in the community with Hugh Fisher and Steven Paull commentating the 2025 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Floral Parade (in the rain!).

Training equips members with the technical, creative, and communication skills needed to produce high-quality, ethical, and inclusive broadcasts. Through training, presenters and volunteers gain confidence in using studio equipment, planning programs, and connecting meaningfully with the community.
It also fosters teamwork, professionalism, and awareness of broadcasting standards and responsibilities. Importantly, training encourages participation from people of all backgrounds, including those with disability and others who are often under-represented in media. By developing these skills, community radio members not only enhance the station’s performance and reputation but also strengthen community engagement and ensure the sustainability of local broadcasting into the future.
Our sector is regulated by the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (the BSA), which establishes a co-regulatory framework that sets out how the Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice (the Codes) are developed and enforced. The Codes are made by our sector, for
our sector, in consultation with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
