About Hope

Hope Against Cancer is Leicestershire and Rutland’s local cancer research charity. Established in 2003, they bring cutting edge research to our area and make world-class clinical trials available to local people.

Our vision is to work for a future where more local people survive cancer. We do this by funding innovative research, which in turn leads to improved treatments and better outcomes for people with cancer. Hope works in partnership with local universities and hospitals, funding pioneering research to ensure that Leicestershire is hub of expertise in cancer research and treatment.

The Hope Clinical Trials Facility is a dedicated area in the Leicester Royal Infirmary for patients taking part in clinical research studies. They fund a Hope Research Nurse at the Facility, who adds to the care and support offered to patients taking part in clinical trials.

Hope’s achievements Clinical trials at the Hope Clinical Trials Facility have contributed to: > Increasing patient access to life-changing treatments > Discovering new treatments for leukaemia > Researching blood tests to diagnose cancer earlier > Finding new treatments for lung cancer > Investing in young researchers to develop and keep expertise in Leicester.
