Greetings from your POA! In this edition of Big Canoe Living, we invite you to start planning your Summer 2026 with friends and family. And let's also make it a memorable summer for a worthy volunteer by nominating them for this year's President's Award.

Each year, Big Canoe property owners have the opportunity to recognize the volunteer whom they feel has had the most impact on our community. We imagine that, just reading these words, a person has come to your mind. As you choose your nomination, please be as detailed as possible about your nominee, including years spent volunteering and how this special property owner positively impacted our community. Completing the form is so easy! Just click the link, complete the form, and that's it! Winners will be announced at this year's in-person Community Town Hall on Saturday, July 25, at the Chapel.

We’re wrapping up the spring season with two fantastic events at the Clubhouse—Cinco de Mayo and our Mother’s Day Brunch. Be sure to make your reservations early and enjoy the wonderful menu Chef has prepared for the occasion.

Looking ahead, the 2025 Board Election season officially begins with an information session on May 27 for any property owners interested in serving in this important role.

The President’s Award will be presented at the Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, July 25.

Become a POA Board Candidate!

The first phase of the election process is candidate qualification. The candidate paperwork required is a petition signed by at least 25 different Members representing at least 25 lots in Big Canoe as well as an attestation that all other qualifications are met. The qualification period starts April 15 and ends June 30.

There are a few prerequisites to being a candidate for the Board (from our by-laws): 1.Own property in Big Canoe for at least 24 consecutive months prior to the Primary Election date 2.Be at least 21 years of age by the Primary Election date 3.Be in good standing with the POA at the time of qualifying 4.Secure signatures from at least 25 different Members representing at least 25 lots in Big Canoe 5.Be willing to authorize a criminal and credit background check by the POA, if requested If you are interested in learning more about becoming a POA Board Candidate, click below to read the full email from the Election Committee explaining all the details.
