July 4th Independence Day Celebration

The Fourth of July is more than just a holiday it's an opportunity to come together as neighbors, friends, and families to celebrate our community and our country. Whether you ' re participating in the Color Run, enjoying live music, spending time on the lakes or golf courses, or gathering with loved ones to watch the fireworks, we hope you'll find plenty of ways to make lasting memories

The festivities begin Thursday evening with our Acoustic Showcase, the perfect opportunity to relax with friends, enjoy live local music, and kick off the holiday weekend The celebration continues Friday with the highly anticipated Color Run in the morning, followed by an evening concert at The Terraces

On the Fourth of July, the fun continues all day long. Start your morning at the Pet Parade at 9:00 a.m., then stop by the Clubhouse, where festive buffets will be served throughout the day. The celebration culminates at Playfield Park, where the Celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy an evening of family fun, live entertainment, food, and community before the night concludes with a spectacular fireworks display.

Our staff, volunteers, and event partners have worked hard to create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for everyone. As always, we ask for your patience as traffic and activity increase throughout the community. Your courtesy and cooperation help make these events enjoyable for all.

On behalf of the Property Owners Association, thank you for being part of such a special community. We hope you'll join us throughout the week as we celebrate summer, friendship, and our nation's Independence Day.

On the Run... with Steve

After reviewing the recent Wellness Center survey, it seems like there are some offerings that the Wellness Center provides that some property owners are not aware of. This is a communication opportunity for us and here is some info to share:

Equipment Orientations

We have 5 personal trainers on hand and they offer complimentary equipment orientations. They provide this service by appointment and will show you how to use the strength training equipment safely and effectively. They provide this service in between clients and classes they instruct, and some trainers are busier than others, flexibility with your availability and choice of trainer is appreciated. For more information, the front desk staff can supply the trainer’s contact info, either by phone (706) 268-3441 or in person at the front desk.

Physical Therapy

New Beginning Therapeutic Services offers physical therapy services in the Wellness Center. In addition to their large facility in Jasper, New Beginning has a smaller satellite facility located inside the Wellness Center and have been part of our operation for more than 20 years. To schedule an appointment or more information they can be reached at (706) 253-6287.

Specialty Classes to address balance and mobility

New Beginning also provides a series of specialty classes designed to strengthen the smaller muscles, tendons and ligaments that aid in balance, fall prevention and mobility. These series of classes are offered for six consecutive weeks, two sessions per week, then a two week break and then they resume again for six more weeks, with the exception of July when there are no sessions scheduled. The next series is scheduled to begin 8/18. Refer to group exercise calendar for exact dates and times There is an additional fee to attend: $12 per class or $84 for the six-week series.

Please take advantage of these exceptional services to enhance your health and well-being.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING IN BIG CANOE

TREENAPARISH

TPARISH@BIGCANOEPOA.ORG

“This time of year, it is not uncommon for me to get calls regarding a random light being left on all night or a light that shines very brightly disturbing the neighbors. Please note that all exterior lighting should be turned off when not in use to avoid bothering your immediate neighbors or even those across the valley from you. Below is an excerpt from the Architectural Control Standards that pertains to exterior lighting ”

All exterior lighting must be approved by AECD All lighting proposals must demonstrate appropriate restraint and consideration of the impact on the Big Canoe flora and fauna environment, as well as on neighboring properties. Lighting of adjacent or common property is prohibited. Entry, garage, deck, and terrace areas may be illuminated under the following conditions.

1.Exterior lighting must be fully shielded or directed shielding. “Fully shielded” means outdoor light fixtures shielded or constructed so that light rays emitted by the fixture are projected below the horizontal plane “Directed shielding” means shielding by design or external application that directs light downward and limits the direct line of sight of a fixture's lamp

2 Fixtures are lit by bulbs not exceeding 525 lumens each, as recommended by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA)

3. Post lighting fixtures shall be a maximum of 250 lumens each.

4. All outdoor lighting shall be “white light,” defined as a color temperature between 2700-3100K (Kelvins).

5. No colored bulbs are allowed, even for seasonal decorations.

6. Neither Up Lighting nor Moon Lighting is permitted.

7 Classic residential “corner floodlights” are not acceptable except for emergency lighting Emergency lighting may exceed the lumen maximums, provided it extinguishes within 30 minutes of activation or cessation of an emergency condition

8 Driveway/pathway/entry fixtures shall be of brass, brown, black, or gray powder-coated aluminum only.

9.Landscape lighting fixtures may be dark green.
