Preparing for the 2024 Golf Season Clubhouse A recent guest to the golf courses here at Big Canoe told me this quote and it has stuck with me. “Playing golf here has a feeling of peace on a great conditioned golf course with such scenic views, it’s like I’m playing golf in paradise!” We agree with that guest’s description of golf at Big Canoe. To that end, to keep up the great condition of our golf courses, March 1st will see the beginning of the Choctaw-9 renovation project. The long term benefits of the renovation are numerous but a few include better drainage so the course is able to dry out quicker after heavy rains, irrigation systems will be updated to allow our maintenance team to strategically apply water where needed to keep the grass healthy and lush, and the bunkers will have new drainage systems installed to keep water moving through the sand and not stagnating. During the updates to Choctaw, we will have Creek and Cherokee open for play but there will be a premium on securing the tee time you want. The best way to ensure your tee time of choice is to be a golf amenity member. As a golf amenity member, you can make tee times 14 days in advance. The weekly golf groups blocked tee times have been cut back to free up more tee times for all our golf amenity members. Also, during the peak season, we will move our first tee time to 7:30 a.m. opening more tee times, and during the summer will allow members to complete their round of golf before the Georgia afternoon heat sets in.
