Geografía: Ubicada a la entrada del golfo de México, el archipiélago cubano está formado por la isla de Cuba, la Isla de la Juventud y aproximadamente 4,195 cayos e islotes. There's a strict physical distancing policy and everyone is asked to wear protective equipment such as masks and disinfectant solutions for the hands. We have also placed chlorine-soaked blankets on the floor. What is the day-to-day life of the basic healthcare team in a hotel like this? We welcome the workers early in the morning, they undergo a short examination procedure and then they wash their hands and change their clothes, because they're not allowed to wear the same outfit from home once they enter the facilities of the hotel. Subsequently, all workers are monitored on a daily basis, in all departments, so we can detect any symptoms they may show. What is the protocol to follow if a host tests positive for COVID-19? In these cases, we immediately proceed to inform the facility management and evacuate the client to the isolation rooms. Later, we inform the Cuban Medical Services Company about this situation and, from there, a medical transport takes the client to a health care facility that, as of this week, will be located in this tourist resort. It costs about US $25000 on the foreign market, a price that is expected to rise. The fact that Cuba has a lung ventilator that was invented, engineered, and manufactured in its territory is a significant contribution to the country's policy of import substitution and scientific and technical sovereignty. MulataSon irrumpió en la escena musical cubana en 2013 y, desde entonces, se ha ganado un lugar de importancia en el panorama musical de la isla. Esta agrupación está conformada solo por mujeres, jóvenes graduadas de las diferentes escuelas de Arte de La Habana que se unen por su amor infinito hacia la música cubana. Una orquesta femenina cubana que hace historia La directora y fundadora de MulataSon, Yarelis Martínez Chávez, buscaba crear una

orquesta que pudiera abarcar un amplio repertorio de la música cubana. Al fundar MulataSon creó una agrupación de once integrantes en la que el piano, la timba, el bajo, la flauta, el trombón, la tumbadora y el canto tendrían un papel protagónico. Desde sus inicios, la orquesta ha apostado por una combinación de géneros de la música bailable cubana que mantiene a la banda en una búsqueda constante de nuevos sonidos y ritmos, característica que la ha llevado a convertirse en una orquesta de referencia a nivel nacional e internacional.

This all-female orchestra has been advised by master Manolito Simonet, who has written many of MulataSon's singles. Las colecciones permanentes y transitorias de cada una de las instituciones patrimoniales serán socializadas de manera online, con la ayuda de discursos más incluyentes que reflejen los intereses y valores de la sociedad cubana actual. No hay mejor manera de celebrar este día que con la aplicación de nuevas formas de mostrar el patrimonio cultural de un país, un camino que lleve a la constante renovación y construcción de un pensamiento capaz de generar una visión de futuro.

Recovering and reimagining the future of museums in Cuba

To achieve a clear and effective dialogue with their community, museums are currently aiming at using designs that visitors can identify with. These changes, which must always be in tune with modern social dynamics, seek to maintain the important collection-audience link and are part of the general conceptual proposals of museum studies throughout the country.

This 2021, on the occasion of the International Museum Day, an initiative has emerged under the motto: "The future of museums: recovering and reimagining". Thus, museums on the island intend to adapt to the new technological realities and enter the virtual world. The permanent and transitory collections of each of the heritage institutions will be exhibited online, with the help of new inclusive discourses that enhance the interests and values of modern Cuban society. There is no better way to celebrate this International Museum Day than with the application of new ways to show the cultural heritage of a country, a path that leads to the constant renewal and construction of society's mindset, which may be able to create a vision of the future as well.

Ruy Adrian Lopez-Nussa with open doors to composition Escuchar a Ruy hablar de la música y su familia resulta una experiencia única para cualquiera que haya tenido la oportunidad de conversar con el joven compositor. El alma de cada una de sus piezas es, justamente, la frescura y la alegría que llenan las palabras del compositor cuando habla de su vida como músico, un camino que nació con él. A la vida musical de Ruy Adrián López-Nussa se acercó la revista Bienvenidos, en entrevista con el compositor.

Listening to Ruy talk about music and his family is a fantastic experience for anyone who has had the opportunity to chat with the young composer. The freshness and excitement that permeate the composer's words when he speaks about his life as an artist, a journey that was born with him, is the soul of each of his works. Recientemente, fuiste merecedor del primer premio en el IV Concurso SGAE para Obras de Jazz Tete Montoliu 2021, por tu composición A Lyle. ¿Qué significó para ti recibir este reconocimiento en un concurso en el que compitieron alrededor de 151 piezas musicales de todo el mundo? Tuve la suerte y la dicha de obtener el primer premio en el concurso Tete Montoliu, un concurso de la Sociedad General de Autores y Editores para compositores de jazz. El tema que presenté se llama A Lyle, su título se debe a que está dedicado al gran pianista y compositor Lyle Mays, parte de la banda de Pat Metheny Group, a quien admiro mucho. Este tema se lo dedico cuando me entero de la triste noticia de su fallecimiento. Está inspirado en un choro que hizo Lyle, bellísimo, y dedicó a Egberto Gismonti, un grande de la música brasileña. Esta melodía me vino a la cabeza al recordar su choro, la tuve toda la noche en la mente y hasta que no me senté al piano y la desarrollé y la escribí no pude dormir. Durante este proceso se da la oportunidad de presentarme al concurso y llevé este tema. Estuve meses sin saber y de repente recibo un mail diciéndome que estaba entre los cuatro finalistas de entre 151 obras que se presentaron. Cuando me entero de esta noticia, para mí, ese fue el premio. Eran músicos increíbles, con grandes carreras y estar entre los 4 finalistas era algo que no me esperaba, fue una sorpresa y una felicidad increíbles. Después de esto, me entero de que obtuve el primer premio y estoy muy feliz con la notica y el momento que estoy viviendo. Recently, you were awarded the first prize in the IV SGAE Contest for Jazz Works "Tete Montoliu" 2021, for your piece called A Lyle. What did it mean to you to be recognized in a competition that included about 151 pieces of music from around the world? I was lucky and fortunate enough to win the first prize in the Tete Montoliu contest, a competition organized by the General Society of Authors and Publishers for jazz composers. The song I presented is called A Lyle, dedicated to the great pianist and composer Lyle Mays, a member of the Pat Metheny Group, whom I admire very much. I dedicate this song to him when I hear the sad news of his passing. It is inspired by a beautiful choro that Lyle made which is dedicated to Egberto Gismonti, a great Brazilian musician. This melody came to my head when I remembered his choro, I had it in my mind all night and until I sat down at the piano and developed it and wrote it down I couldn't sleep. During this process I was given the opportunity to enter the contest and I chose this song. I spent months without getting news and suddenly I received an email telling me that I was one of the four finalists among the 151 pieces that had been submitted. When I heard this news, for me, that was the prize. Talented musicians had participated, with great careers, and to be among the 4 finalists was something I didn't expect, it was an incredible surprise and it brought me so much happiness. After this, I found out that I had gotten the first prize and it felt amazing to hear the news, to be living this moment.

¿Cómo influye esta premiación en el futuro de Ruy como compositor? El premio, además de la importancia que tiene, como concurso de un peso inmenso por sus características, quienes se presentan y las composiciones de jazz increíbles que hay en el mundo, tiene algo muy importante: el nombre del gran pianista español de jazz Tete Montoliu, con una carrera internacional impresionante; ya eso es como un compromiso de hacer y quedar bien con el nombre. Además, es algo definitorio para mí porque puede ser el inicio de una carrera como compositor, lo puedo ver de esa manera. El público me conoce como instrumentista pero no como compositor aunque yo sí he hecho varias cosas en este campo. La confianza que me da este premio para seguir adelante, componiendo y creando es innegable. 50

Ruy Adrián López-Nussa se ha presentado en algunos de los más grandes escenarios de la escena jazzística y es merecedor de la admiración y el respeto de los amantes del género. ¿En qué nuevos proyectos trabajas y qué puede esperar tu público en un futuro? Hemos recorrido mi hermano y yo, bastante, hemos estado en los escenarios más importantes a nivel nacional e internacional, en los más grandes festivales de jazz: el North Sea Festival, Marciac, Montreal Jazz Festival; también en los clubes más grandes Blue Note Jazz Club, de Tokio y de New York, los festivales de Estados Unidos más reconocidos como el Newport Jazz Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, Playboy Jazz Festival; en fin, infinidades de lugares con un prestigio inmenso en el que hemos tenido la dicha de estar y eso es algo que te nutre

inmensamente. Puedes ver y compartir con muchos músicos y eso te llena de vida. En estos momentos acabo de terminar la música para un documental con mi hermano Harold López-Nussa y estamos involucrados en un proyecto que acabamos de crear recientemente que se llama Los Tres Mosqueteros, lo creamos William Roblejo, Harold López-Nussa y yo. Tenemos grabados tres temas y estamos ahora creando y componiendo los tres juntos. La discográfica Bis Music está interesada en el proyecto y estamos en esto al cien por ciento, esperamos que salga algo bien bonito y podamos mostrarlo al público en los escenarios pronto.

How does this award influence Ruy's future as a composer? Aside from its importance as a competition of tremendous impact due to its features, because of those who compete, and also taking into account the incredible jazz pieces that were created around the world, the award has a vital feature: the name of the great Spanish jazz pianist Tete Montoliu, an artist with an impressive international career. This is a commitment to honor his name. Besides, this experience is a game changer for me because it can be the start of a career as a composer, I can see it that way. The audience knows I am an instrumentalist, but now I'm being acknowledged as a composer as well, although I have accomplished several things in this field. This award gives me undeniable courage to continue writing and producing.

Ruy Adrián López-Nussa has performed on some of the biggest stages of the jazz scene and deserves the admiration and respect of jazz lovers. What new projects are you working on and what can your audience expect in the future? We have been together, my brother and me, on the most important stages on the island and around the world, in the biggest jazz festivals: the North Sea Festival, the Marciac, the Montreal Jazz Festival; also in the biggest clubs; Blue Note Jazz Clubs, in Tokyo and New York, the most renowned festivals in the United States, such as the

Newport Jazz Festival, the Detroit Jazz Festival, the Playboy Jazz Festival; in short, countless places with immense prestige we've had the pleasure of visiting, and that is something that nourishes you immensely. You get to meet and share the stage with many musicians and that fills you with life. At the moment I have just finished making the music for a documentary with my brother Harold López-Nussa and we are involved in a project that we have just recently come up with called Los Tres Mosqueteros, created by William Roblejo, Harold López-Nussa and myself. We have recorded three songs and we are now creating and composing, all of us, together. The Bis Music label is interested in the project and we are totally invested on it; we hope that something nice comes out and we can show it to the public on stage soon.

El 8 de mayo es el Día del Son Cubano, fue declarado así el pasado año en homenaje a este género popular y a la herencia artística de dos de sus más grandes cultores, Miguel Matamoros y Miguelito Cuní, cuyas fechas de natalicio coinciden este día. «El son, oriundo de Cuba, es una expresión cultural con una marcada función social, un género músico-danzario reconocido por las comunidades, grupos e individuos portadores directos, como parte de su patrimonio inmaterial enraizado en la cultura popular tradicional, como parte de espacios comunitarios que trascienden la propia manifestación», argumenta el decreto 19 del Consejo de Ministros de Cuba que oficializa la instauración del Día del Son Cubano y añade que la aprobación se debe a que el son «es un género raigal cuyos valores culturales trascienden en tiempos y espacios».

The Day of the Cuban Son and the transcendence of a genre May 8 is the Cuban Son Day, declared as such last year as a tribute to this popular genre and to the artistic heritage of two of its greatest performers, Miguel Matamoros and Miguelito Cuni, who coincidentally were born on this date. «The son, native to Cuba, is a cultural expression with a powerful social impact, a musical-dance genre recognized by the communities, groups and individuals who are the immediate bearers, as part of their intangible heritage rooted in traditional popular culture, as part of community spaces that transcend the genre itself», according to Decree 19 of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, by virtue of which the Day of Cuban Son was declared. The decree also expresses that son «is a deep-rooted genre and its cultural values transcend time and space».

El aplaudido género, el que más ha influido en el universo sonoro del país, nació en la zona del oriente cubano y de allí llegó hasta cada rincón de la geografía nacional constituyéndose en raíz fecunda de la música popular, reconocida y admirada en todas las latitudes.

Este género logró gran proyección internacional a partir de la década del 30 del pasado siglo XX; a la par, se fue gestando un proceso en el que comenzó el género comenzó a influir de manera extraordinaria, no tan solo en la música cubana sino igualmente en la producción melódica latinoamericana, razón por la que se mantiene hasta nuestros días de modo perdurable, en el sonido del continente, la memoria e imaginario de la región y además del mundo. Por su riqueza, valores, vigencia y arraigo popular, el son fue declarado patrimonio cultural del país por Resolución del Consejo Nacional de Patrimonio, en septiembre del año 2012. El Día del Son Cubano honra a Miguel Matamoros (Santiago de Cuba, 1894-1971), y Miguelito Cuní (Pinar del Río, 1917-La Habana, 1984), cuyas composiciones son cimientos recios del tesoro melódico de la isla y los ubican entre los representantes más legítimos del son, de los que ha sido fiel sucesor el maestro Adalberto Álvarez, Premio Nacional de Música, 2008, quien desde hace muchos años, junto a otros artistas, abogó con pasión a favor de esta declaratoria, imprescindible en el calendario de fechas relevantes de la cultura nacional. EL TURISTA PUEDE EXPORTAR: Hasta veinte (20) unidades de tabaco torcido sueltos, sin necesidad de presentar ningún documento. Hasta cincuenta ( 50) unidades de tabaco torcido, con la condición que estén contenidos en el envases originales, cerrado, sellado y con el holograma oficial establecido, exigencias sin las cuales no se autoriza la exportación. Cantidad en exceso de cincuenta (50) unidades de tabaco torcido, las cuales no pueden exceder el valor de los 5,000.00 CUC, deben presentar la factura de venta oficial expedida por la red de tiendas autorizadas a comercializar tabacos torcidos cubanos, correspondiente a todo el tabaco torcido que intenten extraer y que necesariamente tiene que estar contenidos en envases originales, cerrados y sellados y con el holograma oficial establecido. Las cantidades de tabaco torcido en exceso de las cincuentas (50) unidades que no sea declarado por el viajero y cualquier cantidad que exceda lo declarado, o que habiéndose declarado no se acredite su adquisición lícita mediante la factura de venta oficial o los envases no posean los atributos y demás exigencias que lo identifican como tabaco torcido cubano, dará lugar al decomiso.
