WELCOME!!!
Written by Danny Summerell, Head of eLearning & Resources Innovation
I am excited to share the Hub News with you. Connecting with the wider Bialik community is important to us and the pivotal role our Library plays in creating connections with our students cannot be overlooked.
The aim of Hub News is to share what is happening in the Library and Makerspace throughout the term and keep you up to date with the huge variety of resources, special events and clubs your children have the opportunity to participate in.
Libraries are a communal area. A space to chill with a good book, a place to learn new things, to code a robot, to 3D print and a gathering place. Importantly we are a safe space for everyone.
Enjoy keeping up to date with all the happenings in our Library and Makerspace and be sure to pop in and say hi to the incredible team!

STORYTIME IN THE CRECHE
The creche children always enjoy the stories with lots of animal noises and colours. It is wonderful to get to know these amazing children as they spend time in The ELC.
It is such a joy to read to the smallest students – who’s personalities are just as big as our Year 12s!

MAKERSPACE

OUR NEW 3D PRINTER
Makerspace is happy to announce a new 3D printing capability.
Our newest machine has two printheads, allowing us to print in two colours, rather then just one.
It also allows us to use 'dissolvable filament' to make more complex shapes
DRONES IN SCIENCE WEEK
As part of our involvement in Science Week, Year 7 students are learning how to control drones through an obstacle course.
As well as developing good hand/eye coordination, this activity also introduces students to the uses of drones in the real world and teaches them scientific concepts such as 'lift' and 'torque' to help them understand how to control the drones.
CHANGESTO LOWTECH
Written by Shirley Chesterman Library Technician
LOW TECH
Low Tech activities has been running in the Library for many years.
Initially it ran as a lunch-time craft club which was eventually moved to the Makerspace for better access to a variety of materials, storage and clean up.
We have been pleasantly surprised this year with large numbers of students participating every Wednesday in spite of our current limitations in the temporary space.
CRE8TION HUB
From Term 2 we will be using a NEW name Cre8tion Hub to clearly reflect its aim and purpose.
Each Term, activities are planned connected to Library & College events, curriculum themes, Jewish festivals and yes, some just for fun or skill development.
We look forward to launching our Cre8tion Hub officially when we move back into our refurbished space in Term 3.
