Jack Farkas was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and discovered his love for art at a young age. Encouraged by his godparents, he was introduced to museums and books that sparked his imagination and laid the foundation for a lifelong devotion to creativity.
Farkas holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and pursued further graduate studies at Bradley University and NYU, exploring Art History, Restoration, Identi cation, and Law. A passionate advocate for preserving history, he contributed to the recovery of Holocaust artwork, working with respected museum heads and art authorities. His journey spans many disciplines painting, printmaking, lithography, etching, serigraphy, calligraphy, pottery, and more allowing him to express the full range of human emotion and spirit. As an educator, he inspired students at institutions like Gibbs College, Albertus Magnus College, and Housatonic Community College
Farkas has held key roles: Dean of Gibbs College, President of the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra, and owner of Estate Fine Art and Associates. He curated notable solo exhibitions, including one for Willem de Kooning praised by The New York Times as the “Coup of the Century.”
He has lectured at major institutions including The Met, the Louvre, the Hermitage, and the Vatican Museum, sharing insights into the fusion of art and architecture and inspiring audiences worldwide.
His work draws from life, spirit, symbols, and cosmic energies Letting the medium guide the process, Farkas creates vibrant pieces where color, shape, and meaning merge. Critics have compared his use of color to Matisse, yet his style remains uniquely his own
His art has been shown at the B&O Station Gallery MICA, the Silvermine Biennial, and the Academy of the Arts in Easton, Maryland, and collected by institutions like the Museum of Art, Science and Industry in Bridgeport.
Outside the art world, Farkas leads a simple and meaningful life—farming, making wine, smoking foods, and crafting cigars. A devoted Freemason, he is committed to service, community, and tradition.
Through it all, Jack Farkas holds fast to the belief that art is the essence of life—a unifying force meant to be seen, shared, and woven into the fabric of human experience.
