BhSa is unique on the Wirral it is an honour and privilege to lead Birkenhead high School academy, a vibrant learning community offering girls from the age of 3 to 19 years an outstanding education. There has been a school on our site for well over 100 years and we still embrace core traditional values, but also have a very firm eye on the ever changing future. girls are given every opportunity to develop in to confident, articulate and responsible young women. They are encouraged to be challenged, take risks and to develop a lifelong love of learning. We are sponsored by the girls day School Trust and we share their aims of excellence in girls’ education and driving innovation. all BhSa girls benefit from the many opportunities offered by the gdST throughout its extensive network. We expect our girls to adopt high principles for themselves and to expect the same from others. We have the highest standards in achievement, attendance, appearance and conduct. our girls have access to outstanding levels of support, both on the pastoral and academic front, coupled with plenty of stretch and challenge from our excellent teachers and support staff. We are very proud of our extensive enrichment programme and all girls are encouraged to take advantage of the wide range of activities available to them throughout their time here.

nUrSery The foundation stage is a very special phase of school life – a time of transition from home to school. in BhSa nursery we want to work with you and your daughter, building on the major steps in learning that she has already made at home and make the early experiences of school as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.
nUrSery We provide an environment which is stimulating, well resourced, safe and calm, with staff that are experienced and caring. We nurture each child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn within a varied curriculum. learning takes place both indoors and outside and staff ensure teaching is matched to the child’s individual needs. The nursery provides a firm base where your daughter will flourish, gaining confidence, knowledge and skills, as she prepares to take the next seamless step on her learning journey.
JUniorS Junior School is a vibrant, colourful place, filled with excitement and wonder. our buildings are a magical mix of the old and the new, housing specialist classrooms and communal learning zones.
JUniorS We offer a wide reaching curriculum, with specialist teachers in Pe, music and french. our pupils make full use of the fantastic onsite facilities, including the swimming pool, with lessons from y3 upwards. We pride ourselves on providing stimulating learning experiences, encouraging independence in an outstanding environment. The behaviour of our pupils is second to none; we place high expectations on each and every one of them, both personally and academically, and they consistently rise to the challenge.

SeniorS in Seniors students are offered a broad, balanced curriculum at kS3 and individual pathways at kS4 that challenge, motivate and inspire. The pathways are designed to allow all students to flourish.
SeniorS Students are guided and encouraged along the way by dedicated, experienced teachers and a support team who ensure that girls receive the tailor-made provision they require, looking after their well-being at all times. State of the art specialist rooms allow students to work in top class facilities in safe surroundings. our provision for the more able is outstanding and we ensure that lessons stretch gifted and talented students to give breadth and depth to their learning. We believe in educating the whole child and therefore Senior school offers academic study combined with a wide variety of enrichment opportunities led by expert staff. These include individual and small group music tuition, choir and orchestra, sports such as swimming, tennis and hockey, participation in the duke of edinburgh’s award up to gold level and over 20 different clubs and activities every day. at BhSa we make sure that every student aims to exceed expectations and achieve well at gcSe, preparing them for the next stage of their learning with confidence and optimism.
SiXTh form Students in our Sixth form aim high, receiving the best education in classrooms that are bright and condusive to learning. Small teaching groups ensure that every student achieves examination success.
SiXTh form We inspire ambition and a passion for lifelong learning through a modern curriculum which combines rigorous progress monitoring with a supportive mentoring system, enabling all our young people to have the confidence to reach beyond their own perceived limits. a supportive, welcoming and happy Sixth form, we consistently recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students. We have many exciting extra-curricular opportunities which allow them to have fun and to flourish as individuals. links with other schools in the girls’ day School Trust give opportunities for inter-school debates, competitions and conferences. all our staff ensure that through the many experiences BhSa offers, students leave us as confident, responsible, well-educated and articulate young women, ready for the challenges of higher and further education or employment and ready to make a positive impact in society.
