• Truck Drivers
Requirements: Current CDL with doubles/triple endorsements or be able to obtain, clean MVR, 3 years truck driving experience preferred. Must be able to perform truck driving tasks safely and do pre-op and post-op inspections, drive in all weather conditions, pull double trailers safely, do all paperwork required. MSHA safety training will be required. Starting wage $20$22/hr DOE.
• Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Welder
Requirements: Must have CDL, welding experience, and have own tools. This position will require mechanical knowledge to repair, rebuild, and maintain mining equipment which include Caterpillar scrapers, dozers, trucks, excavators, motor graders, Komatsu excavators & support equipment, including power train and hydraulic systems on mining equipment. Most of the repairs are at the mine sites in SD, WY, and MT and will be working out of a service truck. Schedule is 12 hour shifts (5A-5P) 5-6 days/week with OT pay applicable (hourly position). MSHA safety training will be required. Pay rate DOE.
• Truck Mechanic
Requirements: Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, truck repair equipment, knowledge of mechanical, electrical, air, brake, suspension systems, clean MVR and have own tools. Current CDL a plus, but not required. Applicant must have the ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift up to 75 lbs., fill out daily paperwork and/or safety related documents. Schedule is 10-12 hour shifts, 5 days/week, overtime, occasional Saturday if weather interrupts regular week. MSHA safety training will be required. Pay rate DOE.

Just be aware that you’re trading the danger of an open flame for the danger of hot, melted wax. Both things should be kept on stable surfaces and out of the reach of children and pets.
Candle safety
On average, 22 home candle fires are reported each day, the National Fire Protection Association says. The two peak days for candle fires are Christmas and Christmas Eve. The group offers these tips for candle safety. • Keep candles at least 12 inches from anything flammable.
• Blow out all the candles when you leave the room or go to bed. Avoid using candles in the bedroom and in other places were people may fall asleep. • Use sturdy candle holders that won’t tip over easily. • Put candle holders on a sturdy,
uncluttered surface. • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Put it out before it gets too close to the holder or the container. • Never use a candle if there’s oxygen in the home. • Don’t use candles during a power outage.

Find brass or steel Christmasthemed cookie cutters at your local grocery store or hobby outlet. You will need a hot glue gun to adhere the materials to a high-quality paper. How to make holiday wreaths There are many different ways to decorate homes and businesses for the holidays. Tall evergreen trees are among the most visible symbols of the holiday season. However, wreaths hung on doors, windows or fences also are ubiquitous this time of year. Wreaths adorn homes primarily during the holidays of Easter and Christmas. Wreaths have also been worn around the head or neck in ceremonial events around the globe for centuries. It is believed the first wreaths date back to ancient Greece and Rome. Members of the GrecoRoman society were known to handmake ring-shaped items using fresh tree leaves, small fruits, flowers, and twigs. Oftentimes these headdresses symbolized a person’s social status. Others suggest wreaths evolved to become a Christian symbol of immortality. Regardless of how wreaths are viewed, many people like to display wreaths for the holidays. Wreaths
can be purchased premade, but making a wreath on your own can make the holidays even more fun. One of the easiest ways to make a wreath is to design it around a circular floral foam form. Gather supplies to make the wreath. For traditional wreaths, supplies will include sprigs of evergreen (real or artificial), ribbon, floral wire, bows, and artificial berries. Working around the foam form, arrange the boughs of evergreen, using the floral wire to wrap or pin into the foam itself. Keep the layers coming until you get the desired coverage. Embellish with a ribbon or place a bow. The blog “A Piece of Rainbow” says that creating a wreath jig is an easy way to make a wreath. Cut a dollar-store laundry basket bottom from the top ring to make a template, on which you can place wreath-making materials so they keep their circular form. Divinity is a marshmallow-like vanilla confection that is a fluffy white cloud of deliciousness. It’s often dotted with dried fruit or nuts, usually pecans or walnuts. It originated in the early 1900s in the U.S. and is popular in the South. These treats are really sensitive
to humidity, which may also lead to its popularity at Christmas, when humidity tends to be lower in the South. Higher humidity means the candy won’t set properly and will stay sticky and gooey. Properly done, divinity should be soft and dry to the touch.
Divinity
Recipe is from Betty Crocker 2 2/3 cups sugar 2/3 cup light corn syrup 2 egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla 2/3 cup coarsely chopped nuts 1. Cook sugar, corn syrup and water (if it’s humid, reduce water by a tablespoon) in a two-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. 2. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the candy reaches 260 degrees on a candy thermometer or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water forms a hard ball that holds its shape while remaining pliable. 3. Beat egg whites in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Continue beating while pouring hot syrup in a thin stream into the egg whites, beating constantly on medium speed. For the best results, you’ll need an electric stand mixer and a ceramic or glass bowl, not metal. Add the vanilla and continue to beat until it holds its shape

4 tips to simplify 12 Days to Save cooking for a crowd Before Christmas this holiday season
Families big and small typically celebrate the holiday season together. For some, celebrating the holidays with family requires traveling, while others stay put and welcome family and friends into their homes. At some point during the holiday season, celebrants who host family and friends will no doubt prepare a homecooked meal for their loved ones. Cooking for a crowd can seem like a daunting task, especially for first-time hosts. However, there are various ways for hosts to simplify cooking for a crowd this holiday season.
1. Prepare a familiar dish
Hosts may agonize over their holiday menus, and some may feel compelled to prepare a family specialty or the same dishes their parents or grandparents prepared for holiday dinners when they were children. But holiday hosts can make things easy on themselves by choosing dishes they’ve made in the past, regardless of their place in family history. Tips for baking better Christmas cookies Cookies and other baked treats are everywhere come the holiday season. It’s not uncommon to give cookies as gifts or arrive at holiday gatherings with cakes and other decadent desserts. Cookies are a classic holiday treat, and some families even build entire traditions around baking Christmas cookies. Novice bakers making cookies for the first time may be a little overwhelmed when perusing recipes. Baking is a science, and sometimes it takes practice to get the results just right. However, there are some tips that can help yield better, buttery bounties.
Handle butter with care
Butter can make or break a cookie recipe, as butter is often the glue that holds the cookie together. Therefore, it is key to follow the directions carefully regarding how to handle butter. Smithsonian.com says to leave butter at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes to properly soften it. This takes patience, but fiddling with butter too much can damage its delectable
integrity. While purists may say butter is best, margarine may be acceptable if it has a high fat content; otherwise, cookies may spread out and flatten. When it comes time to cream the butter with sugar, be sure to do so thoroughly to incorporate air into the butter and remove the grainy texture of the sugar.
Measure flour properly
Measuring flour the right way can ensure cookies come out right. The Cooking Channel says to spoon the flour lightly into a dry measuring cup, then level it off with a knife. Do not dip the measuring cup into the flour or tap the knife against the cup. This will pack too much flour into the measuring cup and result in dry, tough cookies.
Slow down the eggs
Add eggs one at a time to make sure each will emulsify properly with the fat in the butter. Adding eggs en masse may cause the emulsification to fail.
Chill out
Follow recipes that call for chilling cookie dough carefully. This process is important for making sliced and shaped cookies. By chilling, the dough becomes more malleable for rolling and even slicing.
Use a bottom rack
Too much heat may compromise cookie integrity. The food experts at Delish say to try moving cookies onto a lower rack in the oven if they aren’t retaining their shape when baked. Put an empty cookie sheet on the top rack. That will block the cookies from the most intense heat that rises to the top of the oven. Mastering cookies takes a little patience and some trial and error. Once bakers get their feet wet, Christmascookie-baking becomes even more special.

Simple ways to prolong the life of poinsettias
United States Minister to Mexico, brought the red-and-green plant back with him from a trip abroad. While millions of poinsettias will be purchased for the holiday season, many mistakenly think their utility ends once New Year’s Day has come and gone. But with proper care poinsettia plants can continue to thrive and bring warmth and beauty to a home long after the holiday decorations have been tucked away.
Choose a hearty plant
Experts with the University of Vermont Extension Department of Plant and Soil Science say that many people mistake the plant’s leaves for its flowers. The red, white or pink bracts are actually modified leaves. The flowers of the plant are the yellow clustered buds in the center called “cyathia.” Choose poinsettia plants that have buds which are, ideally, not yet open.
Poinsettias and their rich red, white or variegated color schemes are the ideal backdrop for Christmas celebrations. In fact, poinsettias are among the most popular decorative flowers during the holiday season. According to the 2013 USDA Floriculture Statistics report,
poinsettias accounted for about onequarter (23%) of all flowering potted plant sales that year. Roughly 34 million poinsettia plants are sold in a given season. Indigenous to Central America, the plant was introduced to North America in the 1820s when Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first
Keep the temperature consistent
Poinsettias prefer a room temperature between 60 and 68 F during the day and 10 degrees cooler at night. Humidity levels between 20 and 50% are ideal. Group plants on water-filled trays full of pebbles to help increase humidity levels.
Place near sunlight
The United Kingdom-based Perrywood floral company advises placing poinsettia plants near a bright windowsill but not in direct sunlight. Do not let a poinsettia touch cold window panes.
Avoid drafts
The plants are sensitive to drafts and changes in temperature. So it’s best to keep poinsettias away from drafty doors, windows, radiators, or fireplaces.
Don’t drown the roots
Wait until the surface of the compost dries out before watering the plant anew. Also, the decorative foil wrapper that covers pots can trap water and lead to root rot. Remove it or poke holes in the bottom to allow for drainage.
Cut back plants
Come mid-March, cut back the plant by half to encourage new shoots, suggests the University of Illinois Extension. The plants also can be placed outside in the spring after the risk of frost has passed. Bring poinsettias back in around mid-September to early October to force them to bloom again.

Even though not everyone can get together for Christmas dinner or to light the Chanukah menorah, there are ways to show those special people across the country — or around the world — just how much they are appreciated. Although video chatting, texting and email can make it easier to stay in touch, distance can make sharing the holidays and gifts a bit more challenging. However, these gifting ideas and tips can make easy
work out of sending holiday cheer across the globe.
Food
Food can be a one-size-fits all gift. Exploring the offerings of food gifts, one will quickly find there are all types of options. If a recipient is living overseas or on the opposite side of the country, gift a favorite local food from his or her hometown. Cookie or fruit bouquets can be shipped and are

Keep safety in mind when decorating for the holidays Decorations help make the holiday season a magical time of year. Stores are awash in color and twinkling lights, and similar imagery is on display in private homes. Designing holiday displays can be a great way for families to spend time together and kick off the celebration. In fact, according to Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), around 90% of Americans decorate their homes for the holidays. When trimming the tree and decorating this holiday season, families must keep safety in mind. A little planning and some
precautionary measures can ensure displays are enjoyed all season long. Travelers Insurance offers the following holiday decorating safety tips. • Do not overload outlets. Plan displays according to the number and location of available outlets. • Never exceed the maximum number of light strands that can be attached together. • Use lights and products that have been tested for safety. Certification marks like UL, ETL and CSA are from nationally recognized laboratories. • LED lights should be used whenever possible. Such lights
consume less energy and run cooler than other bulbs. • The ESFI says candles start almost 50% of all decoration fires. Minimize the risk by using candles only when they can be monitored. Artificial candles can be used in place of real candles. • Check for freshness in live trees. A fresh tree will last longer and is less of a fire hazard than an old tree. • Place Christmas trees at least three feet away from all heat sources, including fireplaces and heaters. • Use decorations that are noncombustible or made from flameresistant materials. • Pay attention to the age recommendations of decorations to see if they can be used in homes with young children. Some items, however common, are choking or strangulation hazards.

• Avoid putting small, “mouthsized” decorations near the ground or on lower limbs of trees, where young children can easily reach them. • Exercise caution when hanging decorations at high heights. Make sure the ladder is secured and have a spotter who can hold the ladder and pass items up safely. • Outdoor electric lights and decorations should be plugged into circuits protected by ground fault circuit interrupters, or GFCIs. • Exercise caution when decorating near power lines that extend to the house. • Keep hung stockings far away from open flames so they do not catch any errant embers. Start new caroling traditions
Caroling is a symbol of community that once was a wildly popular holiday tradition but has largely fallen by the wayside. According to the Pew Research Center, about 16 percent of Americans reported caroling in 2017. However, this once-beloved tradition can be brought back with vigor.
History of caroling
Caroling evolved from the practice of wassailing. The word “wassail” is derived from the Old Norse phrase “ves heill,” which translates to “be well and in good health.” As early as the 13th century, people in England would travel between houses to go wassailing and wish their neighbors well during the winter months. In some places, the word “wassail” referred to a hot and thick spiced beverage given to travelers to help them stay warm. It is the precursor to modern-day mulled wines, cider and eggnog. Caroling largely remained separate from Christmas until Saint Francis of Assisi incorporated similar well wishes and songs into his Christmas services. Music was embraced as part of liturgical services during the holiday season.
Caroling today
Many caroling sessions now take place inside of churches or schools as part of choral performances. However, with social distancing limitations in place, it may be the ideal time to once again implement door-to-door caroling. This can help bring cheer to people who
may be missing loved ones who can’t travel, and may even buoy the spirits of those who have been spending more time alone in their homes. These tips can make caroling more successful. • Find someone with some musical knowledge to guide the group. While everyone needn’t be the next star singer, it helps if one person can help keep the group in time and in tune. • Choose familiar songs. Select a body of music that is familiar to all. Songs such as “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” “Deck the Halls,” and “The 12 Days of Christmas” are easily recognizable. The more familiar the song, the easier it is for carolers to follow the tune. Have roughly 10 songs and rotate as needed when visiting homes. • Map out your course. Caroling can take place over several days as carolers visit various parts of their communities. A caroling session may last about an hour or two. • Dress for weather. Layer clothing and agree on some festive trimmings that unite the caroling group. Wear comfortable shoes for walking. • Advertise your intentions. Let others know that carolers will be stopping by on particular dates so they can come out on their front porches or doorsteps. Follow social distancing guidelines if necessary and urge spectators to avoid congregating too closely in one place. Caroling is a great way to enjoy the holiday season responsibly.

The 2020 holiday season figures to be vastly different than seasons past. The novel coronavirus COVID-19 has transformed daily life in many ways. The public has become accustomed to wearing masks while shopping, limiting the number of people in public venues and keeping their distance from friends and loved ones. Many events have been reimagined as virtual celebrations because of social distancing protocols. For those with large families or people with inherent risk factors that make them more susceptible to illness, sharing the holidays over video conferencing apps may be the safest way to go in 2020. The following tips can help holiday hosts make the most of a virtual holiday experience.
Pick a bright, festive spot
Set up your tablet, smartphone or computer in a bright area with a festive backdrop. You’ll
want others who join the virtual hangout to be able to see you clearly. A Christmas tree or a decorated fireplace in the background can set the scene.
Keep props nearby
If the goal is to open gifts virtually, be sure to have everyone gathered and gifts nearby so no one is scrambling in and out of view.

Try to set up the camera so you’re not looking up or down. Practice looking straight into the camera instead of at yourself in the minimized window or even others on the screen. This way you’ll appear engaged.
Use mute when not speaking
Muting yourself (and encouraging others to do the same) when you are not speaking will limit the amount
of background noise. As the host, serve as the moderator and encourage everyone to speak one at a time. Choose a visual cue to signal when someone has the floor to speak, such as raising a hand or even showing a festive picture.
Tune into virtual worship
While some places of worship have reopened to some capacity, others may still be offering hybrid services. If your place of worship offers services via YouTube or another video platform, gather around and watch together and participate just as if you were there in person. Better yet, share the link with other family and friends so they can tune in as well.
Share dinner ‘together’
Set up your camera source so it captures the holiday table. All parties gathering virtually can then sit down to the holiday meal as one and enjoy one of the season’s more endearing traditions. Virtual celebrations may continue through the holiday season. Adapting with some video conferencing tips can ensure everyone enjoys the festivities.

What are some of the advantages of opening a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)? A HELOC is an open credit line that is secured by the paid value of the borrower’s home. Homeowners can generally open a HELOC with up to 85% of their home’s equity, or the difference between what’s left on their home loan and the current value of it. HELOCs have a “draw” period, during which the borrower can access the available funds, ranging from 5-10 years. When the draw period ends, the loan will have to be repaid, either immediately or within the next 15-20 years. Once approved for a HELOC, borrowers can spend the funds however they choose. Here are some of the advantages of a HELOC: Only borrow what’s needed. A HELOC does not give borrowers a lump sum of cash. Instead, it offers a homeowner the freedom to withdraw funds from the line of credit as needed. Qualify for a low rate. Interest rates continue to hover at all-time lows. Opening a HELOC now means qualifying for low interest rates on the line of credit.
Flexible terms. Terms and repayment plans for HELOCs are generally flexible. Many lenders only require borrowers to make payments toward interest during the draw period. Once that time is over, the borrower must pay back the entire principal immediately, or over the course of 15-20 years. Potential tax benefits. As per the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the interest paid on home equity loans and lines of credit is tax-deductible if the funds are used to buy, build or substantially improve the home of the taxpayer who is securing the loan. Build a credit score. There’s no need for an excellent credit score to qualify for a HELOC, and on-time monthly payments can boost a homeowner’s score. Low fees.
