The Industrial Electrician/PLC Programmer is responsible to support programming, troubleshooting, calibration, project implementation and network integration as well as supporting the manufacturing maintenance team on a PLC/ Electrical related issues. This position requires a high level of responsibility towards keeping the automated industrial control systems current, troubleshooting and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment. Performance of all jobs must be conducted safely, efficiently and accurately. Wage DOE Primary Duties will include but are not limited to: Build, perform repairs and/or do modifications to equipment, and preventive maintenance. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains processes at an industrial level. Effectively maintain programming, hardware networking and communication. Drive plant control system upgrades. Diagnose and correct PLC programming problems to minimize downtime. Diagnose, repair and or replace electrical components of machines. New equipment installations. Requires standing, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. Minimum Hiring Requirements: High School graduate/GED. 2 Year Trade school degree recommended. A high level of understanding of proactive and preventive maintenance. Must be available after hours, emergencies and or any shift as per Maintenance/Plant managers request. Should have process knowledge of plant milling, drying, conveying, elevators, etc. Ability to climb ladders and stairs. Minimum of 5 years experience in troubleshooting, repairing, programming and installing electrical control equipment in a manufacturing environment. 3-5 years PLC programming experience. Formal education in a related field is strongly desired. 2-4 years maintnance mechanic experience. Familiarity with PLC hardware and software. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge and use of AutoCAD is a plus. Skills with pneumatic and hydraulic applicaions is a plus. Electrical and PLC Programming required. Intermediate computer skills required for CMMS. Be able to travel as needed for training classes. Also required will be MSHA safety training, Site specific training, Continuous on the job training, and Mobile equipment training if needed. Get crafty with homemade ornaments
H
andmade gifts, trinkets and treats help make the holiday season special.
Ornaments and decorations are one such idea. Here are some clever and, not-too-time-consuming craft projects to try this holiday season.
Mini sleighs
Create miniature replicas of Santa’s famous sleigh. Paint several popsicle sticks to form the main body of the sleigh and glue them together. Put one at the top perpendicular to the others to serve as the steering rudder. Two silverpainted popsicle sticks placed on their thin sides act as the blades of a sled.
Popcorn garland
Garland made of popcorn is a classic handmade holiday project.
For a new twist, toss the popcorn with food coloring and allow it to dry before stringing for some bright color on the tree. Print out several different photos that you love. Purchase round or square thin wood pieces from a craft store and attach the photos with Mod Podge®. When dry, drill a hole through the top and thread with twine.
Put to use any wine corks you have lying around. Attach googly eyes and a small fuzzy nose to the front of a cork. Insert twisted, brown pipe cleaners to make the antlers up top. Add ribbons, small snippets of faux fur or any other extras you desire.

Poinsettia pointers
B
right red and green poinsettias are everywhere during the holiday season. But did you know that they’re a tropical plant that thrives far beyond our snowy visions of Christmas?
History
In 1825, Joel Roberts Poinsett, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, introduced Euphorbia pulcherrima, a small shrub in the spurge family, to the United States. The poinsettia, as you may have figured out by now, takes its
name from Poinsett. The plant first became associated with Christmas, however, long before Poinsett’s time. In 16th century Mexico, the legend goes, a girl was too poor to bring a gift for a celebration of Jesus’ birthday and was inspired by an angel to pick weeds from the roadside for the church altar. Those weeds sprouted into red poinsettias. Franciscan friars included the plants in their Christmas celebrations, saying the star-shaped leaves symbolized the star of Bethlehem and the color red represents the crucifixion of Jesus. In the early 1900s, Albert Ecke began selling poinsettias from
street stands. His grandson, Paul Ecke changed shipping from rail to air and sent plants to television stations for free displays. He relentlessly promoted the plants and, through exclusive grafting techniques, kept his company in a near monopoly of poinsettia sales in the U.S. through the 1980s.
Choosing and caring for poinsettias
Pick a poinsettia with dark green leaves and few low or damaged leaves, Michigan State University says. Colored leaves, usually red, pink or white, should be in proportion to the plant and
pot. Because it’s a tropical plant, exposure to even brief periods of cold temperatures can injure the plant, so make sure it’s well wrapped until you get it inside. Set the plant near a sunny window, but don’t let it touch cold window panes. Extend the bloom time by switching the plant to a cooler -- 55 to 60-degree -- room at night. Water your plant only when it feels dry and discard any excess water. A droopy plant that drops leaves is too dry while a plant that’s overwatered will have yellow leaves. You can feed your plant with a regular houseplant fertilizer.

hen shopping for groceries, some consumers may feel as if they need a degree in nutrition sciences to determine just what it is they’re buying. Food labels can be complex and include various terms that may be unknown to consumers. Understanding these terms can help people make sound decisions regarding the foods they eat. • Cage free: Eggs labeled “cage free” means that the hens that laid the eggs were not raised in caged housing systems, which the Humane Society of the United States has described as inhumane. The organization Food and Water Watch notes that living conditions for hens raised in cage-free environments may still be poor. • Daily value: According to the medical resource WebMD, daily value indicates the percentage of a certain nutrient in a food, based on a 2,000-calorie-per-day diet. WebMD notes that 8 percent is general considered to be good. • Dietary fiber: The Mayo Clinic notes that dietary fiber refers to the parts of plant foods that the human body cannot digest or absorb. Fiber is typically classified as soluble, which refers to types of fiber that dissolve in water, and insoluble, which is used to describe types of fiber that promote movement of material through the digestive system. Soluble fiber can help lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels, while insoluble can help people who suffer from constipation or irregular stools. • Enriched: Foods that are labeled as “enriched” have had nutrients added to them to replace those that were lost when the food was processed. • Fortified: Fortified describes foods that had nutrients added to them that were not present initially. A common example of a fortified food or beverage is milk, which is fortified with vitamin D to help the body absorb the calcium present in milk. • GMO: GMO stands for “genetically modified organisms,” which are organisms that have had their genetic material artificially manipulated in genetic engineering labs. The Non-GMO Project says that a growing body of evidence has connected GMOs with an assortment
of health problems and environmental damage. • Grass fed: Grass fed implies that the animals used to produce meat and dairy were fed only grass. Consumer Reports advises consumers to look for seals such as American Grassfed or PCO Certified 100% Grassfed to ensure that manufacturer claims have been verified and that the animals were fed 100 percent grass and raised on pasture. • Hormone free: The federal government of the United States prohibits the use of hormones to raise poultry and hogs, so manufacturers who label their foods as “hormone free” have not gone above and beyond to make their foods healthier. • Organic: The United States Department of Agriculture has strict criteria in regard to labeling foods as “organic.” To be labeled “organic,” dairy, eggs, meat, and poultry can come only from animals that were not given antibiotics or growth hormones. Fruits and vegetables can only be labeled “organic” if they were produced without conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. • Processed: Many consider processed foods to be bad and loaded with additives. But that’s not always the case. The USDA defines processed as foods that have undergone a change of character. For example, cut, prewashed spinach qualifies as a processed food. • Sodium: Otherwise known as salt, sodium is necessary to maintain nerve and muscle health. However, many people consume too much sodium, oftentimes because of processed foods. WebMD notes that sodium intake should be limited to 2,300 milligrams or less per day. Certain people, such as those over the age of 51, African Americans or those with certain conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes, should consume no more than 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day.
