Facilities Our campers have access to the wide variety of facilities located on our secure campus at the MJCC.

Our Staff: It takes a great staff to make a great camp. We carefully screen and interview candidates to ensure that we hire staff who are committed, hardworking, enthusiastic role models for kids.

All of our staff undergo a criminal background check and are certified in First Aid and CPR. All camp staff participate in our intensive, multi-day staff training. Many of our camp staff return to us year after year, and our campers are excited to see their favorite counselors each summer.

Simcha, Kehila, + Ruach campers

Simcha, Kehila, + Ruach campers

Classic camp includes sports, swimming, cooking, Jewish culture, drama, nature, and arts + crafts. Campers often stay with the same counselor throughout the summer, providing a sense of consistency and helping to keep campers feeling safe and comfortable. Each week, we go outdoors as often as possible, but have the opportunity stay indoors. Simcha campers can progress through our swim program twice a week. All Classic campers swim, gather for a daily song circle, and celebrate Shabbat on Fridays.

Our half-day (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) specialty camps focus on specific activities such as painting, cooking, and sports. Blended with traditional camp activities, your camper will have quality hands-on time with their chosen specialty.

Our campers get in the pool each day. It is one of the great benefits of MJCC Day Camp! We have an outstanding aquatic facility that allows kids to enjoy the water safely under the close supervision of Red Cross certified lifeguards.

Classic Camp Guided Swim for Simcha (2 times per week)

Grades 5 - 6

Swim lessons for campers can be added on at a discounted rate.

See your summer Program Guide for class days and times. Transport to and from swim from camp is available for campers.

• The swim assessment consists of jumping in the deep end, swimming on front halfway across the pool, rolling over

unassisted, and swimming the remaining length on back.

• Campers who are able to complete the swim assessment will not be required to wear life jackets, except Simcha campers.

Life jackets will be available for all swimmers.

Kehila, Ruach, and Kef use our pool float every Friday as part of their swimming time. Extra camp staff and lifeguards will be on deck to supervise. Campers who have not passed the swim assessment will be required to wear a life jacket.

Did you know that we receive 1/4 of our lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18?

Despite Oregon's cloudy days, sun and UV exposure are present. The SHADE program (Sun Hat Awareness, Distribution, & Education), is an exciting, hands-on science program developed by the Uriel Medical Foundation and Bend Science Station, teaching kids that the sun's invisible rays can be both helpful and harmful. MJCC is embarking on a project to adapt this school-based program into a Day Camp setting! Funding for this project is provided in part by the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Community Partnership Program.

We recognize this and work to give our Simcha campers some extra TLC. Our Junior Camp promotes fun, friendship, and life skills for your preschooler by providing experiences that will encourage your child to:

About Kehila engages campers in a wide variety of age-appropriate activities within a well-planned and structured format. With programs changing daily, campers will learn new skills, develop strong friendships, and have fun!

About Tailored to their growing interests and activity levels, Camp Ruach offers campers in grades 3 and 4 the opportunity to spend their summer trying new activities, experiencing fantastic adventures, and making lifelong friends.

Classic Camp Details Classic campers swim in our main pool every day and end the week with a Shabbat celebration every Friday at 3:30 pm. Parents are invited to attend.

Activities will change weekly, but the schedule and routines will be consistent.

About Camp Kef offers campers in grades 5 and 6 more adventures, and more challenges - but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of Kef to go around! Enjoy different activities each week depending on which adventure you choose.

This age group is camper-led, and gives campers the opportunity to work as a team and build independence.

And remember, this camp is called “Kef” (fun) for a reason!

The Program This leadership development program is designed to empower teens by offering new responsibilities, challenges, and adventures including working with younger campers and team-building. Learn and gain real life experience and skills that will teach you how to be a positive mentor and leader.

Each week, CIT’s get to..

Day Camp Office Hours Mon - Fri: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Pre-registration is required.

• Registration confirmation will be emailed once it has been processed.

We offer supervised fun to provide more flexibility to your summer schedule. We do not prorate Pre-Care and After-Care weekly rates, but offer daily After-Care rates.

MJCC Pre-Care (7:30 - 8:50 am*)

• Specific camp information will be emailed the week before each new camp week begins.

*Pre-Care Campers will be transported to their camp group by our staff.

• Look for staff to greet you on the Green in the mornings and answer questions.

Lunch + Snacks Bring a vegetarian (meat and shellfish-free) lunch, two snacks, and a water bottle. Campers will also have the option of purchasing kosher lunches on a weekly basis from Cafe at the J. Order forms will be available online and will be attached to your emailed camp confirmation. Camp does not provide snacks.

At 8:50 am, our counselors will bring campers to the Green for 9:00 am kickoff.

Campers not participating in Pre-Care, arriving between 8:50 - 9:00 am, should be brought directly to the Green by their parent or guardian.

MJCC After-Care (4:00 - 6:00 pm)

Pick up on the Green. Open to all campers participating in a 9:00 am - 4:00 pm camp or Extended Day.

Weekly Cost: $43. Member: $36.

Daily Cost: $18. Member: $15.

Curbside Morning Drop-off Kehila, Ruach, + Kef (9:00 - 9:10 am) Tuesdays through Fridays, June 25 - August 23 We offer a simple drop-off option for our Kehila, Ruach, and Kef campers. Mondays, you will be required to walk your camper in to check-in. Tuesday through Friday, you will have two options.

Option 1: drop your camper off from your car to our counselors curbside, or Option 2: park and walk your child to the Green. Either way, we will greet your campers with a smile and by name! Simcha campers should be walked by the parent to the their room daily.

Cancellations + Refunds

MJCC Day Camp reserves the right to cancel camp programs due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Should cancellations occur, Day Camp staff will contact the parents/guardians prior to the camp and refunds or transfers will be given. MJCC Day Camp also reserves the right to dismiss a camper whose behavior violates our Behavior Agreement, in which case no refund is given.

Any changes or cancellations will be charged $25 per camper, per camp. Cancellations made within 14 days of the start of a camp cannot be refunded.

MJCC offers Vacation Day Camp for kids during days off from school. Keep them busy at the MJCC with sports, swimming, gymnastics, arts and crafts, games, and more. Summer Vacation Day Camps will be offered June 17-21 and Aug. 26-30.

Did you participate in MJCC Specialty Camp, Camp Simcha, or PJA Summer Discovery? Expand your camp experience with MJCC Extended Day. Structured activities include arts + crafts, games, swimming, and sports. Simcha campers enjoy quiet time after lunch to read, sleep, or play quietly before starting afternoon activities. Campers are not required to sleep. We are not able to prorate MJCC Extended Day weekly rates.
