Sun Valley, created as America’s first destination resort in 1936, has long been the pre-eminent winter playground in the West. And from its inception, Sun Valley has been one of the US’s most important ski racing venues, from the fabled Harriman Cups in the 1930s, to our own Gretchen Fraser winning the US’s first skiing gold medal in 1948, to hosting the World Cup in 1977 and Nationals four times in the last decade. So if you’re looking for a mountain with ski racing ties, Sun Valley is it. The links below all offer different insights into Sun Valley’s ski racing legacy.
