JOHN SOFRO

I took the train from Boston to the Wood River Valley in 1982 with just my skis, a suitcase, and a few magazines. Intending only to stay and ski for the winter, after one season I was hooked and couldn’t come up with a legitimate reason to leave.

I am proud to be the designated broker and co-owner of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Sun Valley Properties, in Sun Valley, Idaho.

I started my real estate career in 1992, and have had my broker’s license since 1998. In November of 2019 I joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Sun Valley Properties, and feel fortunate to be affiliated with not only Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices but with the highly professional team of agents that make up our Sun Valley office.

My knowledge of the local market and luxury real estate is extensive. Chances are that I know something about almost every property in the Wood River Valley. I am honest, work hard, and do my homework. I specialize in matching people with properties and find it to be one of the most satisfying aspects of the profession. I am proud to say that most of my business comes through my clients and referrals.

I have been involved in the real estate brokerage and development business in the Wood River Valley since 1994 and have lived in the area since 1993. Prior to my career in real estate, I held the position of vice-president with House of Fabrics, a New York Stock Exchange firm from 1977 to 1993.

Among my many interests, I have been involved on the boards of The Wood River Economic Partnership, The Sun Valley Wellness Festival, The Next Stage Theatre, Ketchum Events Planning Committee and the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Board of Realtors. I am also the proud father of three sons, Carson. Jordan and Evan, and a new grandFather!

NICOLE BUCHWALTER I have been a Realtor in the Wood River Valley since 1995, and have been Sue’s licensed assistant since 2011.

My passion for real estate started at an early age, learning the business from my father who owned his own real estate company in Western Washington. I graduated from the University of Denver, and after moving to Sun Valley, I served on the Board of Realtors for many years and was President of the Board in 2007. I live in Ketchum with my husband Nick, son Brody, and twin daughters Elisabeth and Claire.
