What We Love About This Home After completing my graduate studies at Princeton University, my husband and I wanted to stay in the area. We moved to West Windsor in 1999 attracted by the award-winning schools, the abundance of parks and open space, as well as the close proximity to the Princeton Junction train station and downtown Princeton. The West Windsor-Plainsboro schools prepared our older kids exceptionally well for college and subsequent graduate studies in business and law, and the Mercer County Special Services School System provided outstanding instruction and personalized therapy care for our youngest daughter, who has special needs.

On Hereford Drive, we found the perfect home for our family. Not just because of the 5-minute walk to Maurice Hawk elementary school and High School South and 15-minute walk to the train station, but also because of the strong sense of community. We treasure the great times with our friends and neighbors over the years: the Halloween costume parties, birthday and anniversary celebrations, casual dinners and drinks, summer barbeques, block parties and so much more. Our kids’ best friends were just a couple of doors away on Hereford Drive and Yorktowne Ct. and they went everywhere together (playground, little league games, summer camp, the movies, NY Mets games, One Direction concert, even to Spain with us!).

The neighbors also have never hesitated to lend a helping a hand to one another whether digging out a car stuck in a pile of snow, checking in on their dogs or cats while out of town, or watering plants when needed. We shared tools and banquet tables, carpooled kids, babysat in a pinch, and much more.

My husband and I both have large families, and we have cherished hosting large extended family gatherings over the years ranging from summer barbeques, Thanksgiving dinners (and touch football games on the lawn), Christmas parties, communions, confirmations, and most especially the grandparents’ 50th anniversary party. Also, as all of my family is in Spain, our home has provided ample space to enjoy extended visits.

In 2014-2015, we made a significant investment of time and money over the course of 12-18 months to completely renovate the first floor of our house (dealing with architects, municipal zoning requirements, contractors, countless visits shopping for materials, inspections, etc.) – adding a large bedroom suite and living room with sliding glass doors to a new deck and a ramp to the patio.

Our home has continued to evolve over the subsequent years. During the pandemic, we dedicated more space for a proper home office, given hybrid work arrangements. Also, I took up a strong interest in gardening and my husband, son and a neighbor helped build several garden beds to grow some of our own fruit and vegetables. More recently, we also added some wildflower areas to promote a more beautiful and sustainable ecosystem. I love observing and listening to the cardinals and finch birds in the spring and summer as they swing in the plant stems.

We have been extremely happy in our home on Hereford Drive. While it is time for us to move to be closer to family, we will cherish the wonderful memories and friendships. We wish the new homeowners lots of happiness in this beautiful red house.
