Off Campus Student Services is Your Bridge to Transitioning Off Campus

T

he University is well known for its student-first environment including more than 300 registered student groups, counseling and academic support services. And a key piece--but often overlooked—are the support services provided for off-campus students

Located in 301 Bowen Thompson Student Union, the Off-Campus Student Services (OCSS) office, is a staff that operates under a mission statement that sets to “provide resources to all offcampus students, including students living in Bowling Green and those commuting from a great distance. OCSS is a program within the Office of the Dean of students.”

Lakeshia Dowlen is Assistant Dean of Students and leads the University’s efforts in providing contined services for students who live off campus. She handles

The Office of Off-Campus Students Services is known regularly to face issues.

These issues cover a vast majority of off-campus situations, such as conduct cases, how the commuter lounge could be changed, more space being offered for off-campus students, and even branches into S.O.A.R.

A main issue for the students who live off-campus is staying connected to campus. The goal is to bring more influence of the campus to those University students who aren’t always oncampus, to keep them in the loop.

Provides Legal Representation for a Host of Student Issues

I

n a small town with a large state university in the middle, Student Legal Services offers more than just help and advice to those living off campus in either an apartment or a house.

Student Legal Service (SLS) is a nonprofit law office that has been around since 1984, providing help to the Bowling Green State University main campus in any legal matter. The office looks to aid tenants who deal with troublesome landlords, and also offers help to landlords that deal with problematic tenants.

Starting at a law firm in Toledo and then finding his way to Bowling Green, Rodney Flemming, Managing Attorney at the Student Legal Services, has been working with the SLS for 26 years.

Flemming said that many of the issues often faced by tenants are dealing with repairs to either the house or apartment, whether it be structural repairs, or appliance fixes.

If the landlord has yet to check out an issue that the tenant has claimed, Student Legal Services is where they would go to resolve the issue. This is the same for landlords if a tenant were to not pay their rent on time, or if the tenant were to get in trouble for a nuisance party.

The SLS extends out more to than just legal matters, but also offers help to those before they go out leasing an apartment or renting a house. The SLS offers guidance and preventatives whether it be at the Off-Campus Housing Fair, or if they are asked to speak at an event or classroom. The goal of the SLS is to foster a positive living and learning environment for student success and retention.

Flemming said that a lot of the companies that he works with are mostly in Bowling Green, varying from apartment leasing businesses to local house owners. The Student Legal Services also deals with some companies or landlords that own residences within Bowling Green, but live out-of-state, which often makes it difficult due to those landlords not knowing much about Ohio’s tenant laws.

Day to day, Flemming loves the job, because he enjoys helping others. “I love

to teach others about law and helping them understand it. I have three college aged kids, I know they’re good people, but sometimes they do still need some help and guidance,” said Flemming. n

Falcon’s Pointe Voted by Students in 2015 as Best Place to Live Off-Campus

hen you’re looking for a place to live off campus, there’s a lot you will want to consider whether it’s the space, roommates, pricing, location or amenities. If it’s your first time living off-campus or your third, students want something that can meet all of their needs. Falcon’s Pointe should be high on your list as the always-popular complex was voted “Best Off-Campus Housing” in the 2015 annual Best of BG survey.

Molly Goodwin, property manager, explains their sense of community at the apartment complex. She says the staff really tries to get involved and encourage the involvement of all the residents to get to know each other. There are several resident gatherings and each year they have a Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas event for all residents to enjoy.

Falcon’s Pointe offers more than just a great social atmosphere, the complex offers many amenities that prove living at Falcon’s Pointe is truly a unique and luxurious experience. The complex offers free tanning, computer lab, newly renovated clubhouse with fireplace and a pool table, year round 24/7 hot tub, resort style pool, WIFI in the clubhouse and large fitness center.

Included in the units are full size side-by-side washers and dryers, water and trash, free just updated high speed internet. No wonder the students voted Falcon’s Pointe one of the best places to live!

The complex has 576 residents with 144 apartments. Each unit contains four bedrooms, and each resident has their own private bath, as each suite has four private bathrooms. Falcon’s Pointe recently added new hardwood flooring to both the kitchen and bathroom areas as well as having giving the apartment a fresh new look.

If you want to rent from Falcon’s Pointe, but don’t have three others to room with in a suite, don’t worry! Goodwin says she uses a roommate matching system to help each student find others who they are most compatible with. She says they don’t use computer matching,

Questions on the matching system helps prevent roommate issues in the future and there are rarely any roommate matching issues thanks to Goodwin’s expertise in the area and as a result, staff has found that many new friendships are made every year!

Falcon’s Pointe is also making improvements to its already popular and widely-used shuttle service with the addition of a brand new shuttle in 2016. The shuttle service travels to and from campus, and Goodwin says it is so popular that most people take it instead of driving to the university. It runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In fact, Falcon’s Pointe leases 100 percent of its units each year and every year the complex is booked full earlier and earlier!

When students are looking at places to live, Goodwin says how they usually are comparing Falcon’s Pointe to the other new complexes in town. or many college students, moving off campus is the first time he or she has ever lived independently.

From paying bills to buying and cooking meals, living off campus requires a new set of responsibilities. But living off campus has many perks- one being the opportunity to become a pet owner.

But before any student thinks about getting a pet, they need to do their homework.

Some Bowling Green realtors and landlords allow pets in specific units, but they have to be under a specific weight and renters will also need to pay a fee. Other places allow any animal, and some do not allow any pets at all. It is important to make sure the rules are followed from one’s rental agreement or fines may pile up.

Although shelters have many animals that need homes, shelters are not quick to give away animals. Prospective pet parents need to fill out several forms to prove residency, age, and some shelters even require contact with their landlord.

“Pets require a lot of time, money, and commitment to providing a lifelong home.

Although giving pets a home is a wonderful thing, prospective pet parents should do their homework first,” said a representative from the Wood County Humane Society.

It is also important to make sure that the animal is healthy and vaccinated. At Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter in Toledo, for $80 a student can adopt a cat and get it sprayed so it is safe to take home.

It is not uncommon for students to see ads for free kittens and puppies that people are trying to get rid of. Any animal that is being taken home should be brought to a vet to make sure that the animal is healthy and should receive any vaccinations that are recommended. This is important to both the health of the animal and the person taking it home.

experience with adopting her dog, Nova. “I got her from the local shelter and registered her as an emotional support dog to help with my anxiety. I just really wanted to rescue her to give her a better life and she’s definitely helped out with that since she’s been in my home. She also makes everyone in the house feel more protected and safe.”

Pets have large benefits on owners and their own lives.

For any student thinking about adopting an animal, they should just make sure they are ready to take the responsibility of being a pet owner and give that animal the love it deserves. n

ON CAMPUS VS OFF CAMPUS A THE PROS & CONS

s fall semester is quickly winding down, many students find themselves looking into their housing options for the next academic year. Their options vary.

However, most tend to choose between continue their stay on campus, or living in an apartment or a house off-campus.

All options have their pros and cons, as well as concerns regarding finances, upkeep, and safety.

Senior Faheemah Hughes has chosen to live on campus for the duration of her time at BGSU. “The pros to living on campus are that you do not have to worry about how much money you have to make to pay bills everyone month,” she said.

“I use all of the money I make from my job as spending money. It is also more beneficial for me to live on campus because I am very involved on campus, so it allows me to attend all my meetings without waiting for the bus or trying to find a ride.”

Hughes finds that having to abide by the rules in the residence halls is a con, as she feels too old to have quiet hours and check in guests. Sharing community bathrooms also fall as one of the main cons of living in residence halls. Despite the cons, however, she has opted to stay on campus becomes it removes financial stress, as well as the responsibility of commuting to campus every day.

All things considered, Hughes enjoys living on campus and in the end, “It is more important for me to have a high GPA rather than to live off campus,” she said.

If she were to move off of campus, it would be for the freedom and independence factors. Overall, Hughes thinks that the residence halls are well kept and safe to live in.

“Living on campus is very safe because no one can enter your building without a ped after midnight,” said Hughes. “I also feel safe because I

usually see the police walking through the dorms throughout the night.”

Drew Buford, a senior at BGSU, made the decision to relocate offcampus for her last year. She finds that one of the pros of being in an apartment is that you have your own space, which means you can play music as loud as you want and have friends over at any time. Another plus is that you can take the time to prepare real meals and cook.

Buford lives in a single, so she finds that it can get lonely at times. You are also responsible for yourself once off-campus, and you may have hidden expenses that pop up. Buford has found that not having a meal plan can also be a con to off-campus living, as you do have to take the time to buy groceries and cook.

Buford made the decision to move off-campus so that she could keep her environment clean and organized. She also wanted “me time,” and not have to worry about roommates coming and going. The only thing that would have kept Buford on campus is having a meal plan this year and being able to stay in

If wanting to move into an apartment, get a good start and begin looking early. Also, make sure you are financially stable and good with money when it comes to budgeting.

When Buford was looking online for an apartment, most one-person units ranged from $325 to $465 per month.

Christopher Colón is also a senior at BGSU. He decided to lease a house with friends for this academic year.

His total lease is $1,100 dollars a month. Between he and his two roommates, the individual payment is about $360 dollars per person. Most houses can be found for a little more, as Chris and his roommates were able to make a good deal.

He has found that living off campus relies on financial capability and opens a new chapter of responsibility, as well as the ability to manage relationships with people you live with outside of the residence halls.

“I feel like the first two years you should live on campus,” Colón said.

He stayed an additional year due to requirements to live on campus that were set by his leadership organizations. If Colón were to have stayed for his final year, it would have been due to community engagement.

“On campus, you have a community of people that are all students of the same university that you go to,” he said. “Some might be the same age or ethnicity, or have the

same major as you, so there’s a lot of connecting pieces that can really bring a lot of people together.”

Benefits of living in a house is that you don’t have to worry about having a community laundry, bathroom, or kitchen, which most appreciate.

Colón’s commute is a 15-minute walk if he chooses not to drive. If he drives and needs parking, he has friends that live closer to campus where he can park for free. Safety hasn’t been a huge

issue for him, but it is something to be acknowledged.

“You do have the greater probability of your home being broken into, but even in an extreme case, you can narrow it down to less than four people,” Colón said. “Whereas when you live in a dorm hall, you have maybe 20 people you don’t know”.

As far as upkeep with the house, a custodial staff cares for the laundry maintenance but Chris and his roommates have to keep up with landscaping and basic cleaning.

Overall, students have many different options when where to live during their years at BGSU. Whether you want to stay on campus or look at your options off campus, it all depends on financial stability, maturity and responsibility, as well as what you’re personally looking for. n

We have a one-of-a-kind roommate matching system that we offer for students that don’t have any preferred roommates. We also have amenities that nobody else has, like balconies and patios with every unit, depending on what

floor you live on.

Another huge feature we have to offer is our new privately owned bus stop and shuttle. With the renovation, we purchased a brand new shuttle, which is much bigger with taller ceilings than our previous one. The shuttle runs nonstop to and from campus Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The longest wait for the shuttle will only be about 6 or 7 minutes each time.

If you have to get to campus after 6:00 p.m., the BG bus stop picks up only about 50 feet from our property, so you will never be out of a ride. Ultimately, there will be a shuttle for you every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

We also run our shuttles for BGSU special events, such as homecoming and sporting events.

This ensures that you will always

have a ride to your fun college activities, especially in our cold Ohio winters!

Here at the Edge, we like to do as many events as possible.

For sporting events, we have a contract with BG athletics, as we love to incorporate ourselves in the student culture. We like to have pool parties, volleyball and basketball tournaments, and about 3 or 4 bonfires a year. We are the only property in the area that can have a fire, so we like to take advantage of it. We truly are a one of a kind community.

budget, according to dictionary. com, is “an estimate of expected income and expense for a given period in the future.” In other words, it’s how to responsibly act as a member of society. Budgeting is essential to survival – ask any adult and more importantly ask any college student.

From personal experience and living among other students in the town of Bowling Green, budgeting is an art we’re trying to get a grasp of. The on-campus vs. off-campus perspective of budgeting is two different worlds. If an on-campus student has money at all, it’s usually spent without any worries. As opposed to offcampus, students typically balance their finances between bills, food and leisure activities.

In order to appropriately organize your money, create your budgets to get an idea of upcoming expenses and how you are going to meet them. Try to establish your budgets by level of importance. Is the purchase considered a need or a want? While it sounds simple, this is the area where most college students make mistakes.

Therefore, you can be aware by accumulating and keeping track of past totals, that you can have the funds on hand by a specific due date. This is your first priority!

Since we typically aren’t able to splurge our money in all areas of bills, food and entertainment, we have to prioritize where and how much of our money is going where.

It’s almost notorious for college students to impulsively spend their money - hence the “broke college kid” reputation.

By having to better budget our money, prepares us on how to make responsible decisions. Additionally, if you just went grocery shopping, don’t order take-out that same week. Money is sacred at this time so don’t waste money on eating out when you have food at the house.

Alternatively, it’s too easy to be influenced by trends in clothes, entertainment, and events. College students especially seem to have the mentality to “treat ourselves” when in reality we don’t have the funds to do so. This is a reminder that the online shopping purchase is not worth it when

It has become quite popular among tenants and stresses the home and family aspects of the

complexes. Shuttle service is also provided to campus and the Napoleon Road facility is near the campus shuttle for hours outside of the complex’s own shuttle operation.

Another way that Winthrop Terrace Apartments staff makes their units feel more like home, says leasing specialist Shayla Elam, is their “Feature Wall Program.” The program allows tenants to pick from a provided assortment of colors and have a wall done for color accent in their apartments.

“You pick a color and for $60 it will be ready to go when you move in,” says Shayla, “It makes it more homey.”

Getting Along with Roomates Requires Skills and Flexibility O ne of the biggest fears when entering college is finding a roommate that is completely different from you, or who you just don’t see eye to eye with no matter how hard you try.

Will you become best friends? Or, will it be everything you hoped it wouldn’t be? Finding a roommate who seems to fit the bill can be a daunting task, especially when first starting college.

Coming out of a living living environment of 18 years with your family, people naturally become accustomed to their routines and it is a large adjustment to settle into a new one. In college, you may even have to live with complete strangers, at least for the first couple of years.

At Bowling Green State University (BGSU), students are typically required to live on campus for two years, with some exceptions to the rule.

It’s always hard to have five girls living together in one house without any problems.

Some of the things that most often cross people’s minds are: will they be “normal?” Will they have similar interests?

Will they respect my privacy? And one of the most important... Will they respect and keep their hands off my belongings and food?

Some students at BGSU haven’t had the best situations with past roommates.

Allie Felkonis, who is a BGSU graduate, said that one of her worst problems with her roommates was the stealing of her clothes.

Unfortunately, some people have far worse problems. Carlye Pollack, a recent BG graduate, had a roommate that would not contribute anything to the household and was constantly picking fights with the other roommates.

Some of the things people worry about are: will they be normal? Will they have similar interests?

Will they respect my privacy? And one of the most important… Will they respect and keep their hands off my belongings and food?

“It’s always hard to have five girls living together in one house without any problems, but this roommate brought it to a new level,” said Pollack. “She wouldn’t speak to anyone, pitch in with toilet paper and other common household items, and even took some of our stuff when she moved out.”

Communication and lack of respect for the other roommate’s property were the main issues with Pollack and her old roommate.

Kassidy Smith, a recent BGSU graduate, also had a rough experience with one of her living mates.

It was her freshman year roommate, who was a random placement throughout the University. She was an only child, and according to Smith, was used to having everything her way.

“One day I went to turn on the TV and I couldn’t find the remote,” said Smith.

“I looked everywhere and even decided to check her bed, which was made, and there it was, under the comforter.”

Once she found the remote she decided to put it back where it initially was when they started school and a couple days later, she couldn’t find it again.

“This time it was under her bed completely made and under all of her sheets,” said Smith. “I don’t know what I did to her, but I thought about hiding the microwave from her, but I’m classy and mature.”

College is one of those times where someone runs the risk of having roommate problems, whether it is with someone random, or even your best friend from home.

“When being a roommate, try to treat someone the way you would want them to treat you and your things,” said Pollack.

“When you do that, it’s all easy.” n

Subleasing has Many of the Same Concerns as Long-Term Renting

t one time or another, students living off-campus may have to encounter subleasing – whether it be subleasing an apartment from someone else, or subleasing an apartment to someone else. A sublease is when the original tenant needs someone to fill his or her spot until the lease agreement expires.

More often than not, many BGSU students go back home for the summer and because of this, there is a higher demand for subleasing during that time. Whether it’s due to internship opportunities outside of the area, studying abroad, or needing a temporary place to stay until your lease agreement starts, there are many reasons as to why a sublease is needed.

If this is something that applies to you, there is a small process in which to engage. Generally, rental management companies have policies to follow before someone can sublet your house or apartment during the lease contract.

According to meccabg.com’s Frequently Asked Questions, “subleasing may be granted with prior approval from Mecca Management. There is a $75 sublease fee and management must approve of the new tenant’s application. Mecca Management also does not advertise for the units available for sublease.” The regulation policies for subleasing are similar among other Bowling Green rental companies.

s college students, we’re generally on the go. From going class to class, to the gym, to work, it almost seems imposible to find time to sit down and eat a good meal. Additionally, it is even harder to eat healthy. Meals are quick and on the go. On campus, it is more towards grabbing whatever looks the best out of the limited options available.

To make the lives of college student’s trouble-free as possible, here are a few helpful tips on cooking, budgeting and eating healthy, to remember along the way.

COOKING Cooking your own meals is one way to stay healthy, but many college students don’t know how to cook or where to start when it comes to cooking.

The number one trick for beginners is to keep it simple; the fewer ingredients the better. This is beneficial because it allows you to know exactly what you are putting in your body and it also lowers your grocery list. Fresh veggies and produce are healthy options to add to pastas and salads to make an easy home dinner.

If you live in the dorms and don’t have a personal kitchen, they have their own kitchens available for resident’s use.

There are also pots, pans and everything else you need to start cooking available to check out.

The Internet is an amazing resource to find easy tutorials and recipes to take you step by step through a meal.

BUDGETING When going to the grocery store, it is very important to budget and plan because it is easy to go overboard. It is a good idea to set money aside every month on groceries. Before you go, it is beneficial to bring a list. Whether you list staple foods or have specific meal plans, planning ahead will prove a good idea later on. Veer away from processed foods and stick with fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, and whole grains.

f University students find themselves in a legal bind, Student Legal Services attorneys are here to help.

Student Legal Services (SLS) is a non-profit law office that has served BGSU since 1984. SLS currently employs three fulltime attorneys that advise and represent over 1650 students each year. Additionally, SLS promotes educational opportunities for the entire student body that are related to legal issues facing college students. The services are available to all main campus University students who have paid the $9.00 participation fee at the beginning of each semester. The fee is included in a student’s bursar bill but can be waived before a semester’s onset.

Attorneys at Student Legal Services (SLS) offer students a helping hand in housing related problems. SLS assists students in responding to legal problems that may adversely affect their well-being or interfere with their academic endeavors. The services offered are meant to assist students in resolving problems for which it would be otherwise difficult or impossible to obtain legal services at affordable prices.

In this way, SLS helps BGSU to accomplish its goal of fostering a positive living and learning environment for student success and retention.

SLS handles many issues that students may face with respect to housing, including: • Landlord-tenant disputes • Security deposit deductions • Evictions • Repairs • Lease interpretation • Zoning violations • Review of contracts

For a college student, signing a lease is a necessary action with potentially lasting consequences. The lease is a contract that holds the student legally liable for certain obligations. Understanding the major points of the lease contract is important to know before signing. According to Rodney Fleming, Managing Attorney at SLS, once signed, the tenant is required to pay the full agreed upon rental amount over the term of the lease. This can become problematic when leases are signed several months before tenants are supposed to move in. Circumstances can change over the course of those months and some students may decide they do not want to live with each other anymore due to conflict or others may transfer to another school.

It is also important for individuals signing leases to understand the “joint and several liability” clause. In joint and several liability,

everyone that signs the lease is responsible for the entire amount of the lease and the landlord can choose to pursue any one of those individuals or any combination of them.

Students are encouraged to meet with an attorney before signing a lease, to have all terms and issues explained.

While some housing questions concern understanding the terms of a lease before signing, other questions surface once tenants have taken possession of the unit. Common problems students encounter involve responsibility for repairs.

In Ohio, the law requires a landlord to cover all repairs that make the house or apartment livable.

Additionally, they must ensure that all electrical, plumbing, heating, sanitary, ventilation, air conditioners and appliances work properly.

Understanding the major points of the lease contract is important to know before signing. exists, the landlord has 30-days to fix the problem,” explains Fleming. If the landlord fails to fix the problem within 30-days, the tenants have the option to place their rent in escrow. The landlord can fix the problem and have the rent be released from the court, or fight the claims in court. “A court hearing is a time-consuming and expensive process, so landlords typically don’t take that route,” Fleming said.

“Normally, they just fix the problem once a tenant escrows the rent, which is why it is such an effective tool.” Repairs to a house or apartment are not covered when tenants cause the damage. If there is evidence that supports that the damage was done by the tenants, they may be required to pay.

Issues that occur on the backend of a lease agreement center on the security deposit and damages to the apartment or house. By law, the landlord has 30-days to send the security deposit back to the tenants. When there is damage to the unit, tenants are required to receive a

security deposit itemization letter with a list of deductions.

In some instances the landlord may include charges in excess of the security deposit. “If the deductions or charges are wrongful, we will try to negotiate at first,” Fleming said. “If that doesn’t work it will go to court.”

Often times it is not the charges, but the monetary amount that tenants have issues with. For example, $20 for a light bulb is clearly too much, and could be reduced with a lawyers assistance, said Fleming. Photographing the house or apartment at the beginning of a lease, and upon surrendering the premises is one way for students to prevent being assessed unfair damages.

pring semester brings sunshine, new classes, and the nerveracking decision of finding a roommate. Not only do students need to figure out who they will be living with, they must also communicate with them where they want to live the following semester.

Within Bowling Green State University’s online housing application, there is a short preference survey that each student fills out before selecting a roommate on campus. Students are then given a selection of potential roommates that they are most compatible with, if they want to house with a person they may not know.

In addition to BGSU’s compatibility survey, students may choose to find wa roommate in other ways. Many students use Facebook to meet potential

roommates and chat to see if they’d be a good fit. Freshman Communication Sciences and Disorders major Rylee Stiverson found her current roommate through the BGSU class of 2020 Facebook group.

“We chose to live together because we both have the same first name and participated in the same activities in high school,” said Stiverson.

Older students that have developed friendships at BGSU often decide to group together as roommates in off campus housing.

Sophomore Criminal Justice Major Michael Simmons plans on living with two good friends he has made while attending BGSU. “I met my first [future] roommate my freshman year while living in Kohl Hall. We lived on the same floor and met through opening weekend activities.

We’ve been good friends ever since.

I met my second [future] roommate through my fraternity. We found out we both loved weight lifting and bonded through that. I’m really excited to live in an apartment with them next year,” said Simmons.

Most students generally care who they live with. Considering you share so much time and space together, who wouldn’t? Some students care so much that they’d choose a good roommate over a better space.

someone I don’t know because it’s hard to live with someone you may feel uncomfortable with.”

Sometimes students don’t have much of a choice in roommate choices because of different circumstances.

This can happen quite often, but luckily these students can come together to find housing with one another.

Sophomore Tourism, Leisure and Event Planning major Rachel McGraw planned to travel to Austria in the fall.

When these plans fell through, she was forced to find roommates in BG although most had already signed their fall leases.

“I was having trouble looking for a roommate from my sorority so I decided to look on the Facebook page to help me out. I think it would help me in the long run if I became friends with people outside of my sorority,” explained McGraw.

Sometimes it can be rewarding to take a chance because after agreeing to be roommates at Falcon’s Pointe next fall, two of them joined McGraw’s sorority.

BGNEWS.COM “I don’t know them that well yet, but we seem like we share the same interests and values,” said McGraw.

Besides selecting a roommate based on housing preferences, it is important to look for certain things in people you may potentially live with.

Some students may be satisfied with simply tolerating their roommates, while others may want to connect with them and develop a deeper friendship.

“I was looking for people I knew would be clean, organized, respectful and understanding. I also found it important to live with people I share similar interests with,” Simmons said.

“I was trying to avoid people who I know can be loud and party a lot. My roommates I have signed a lease with seem to align with these ideals.”

When looking in what to avoid when searching for a roommate, it is important that you recognize what kind of person you are to compare with potential roomies. For example, if you are a “lazy” student, you may not want to room with a “neat freak” because being polar opposites might drive you crazy.

Although you may want to live with someone very similar to you,

HOUSING FAIR 2017 stepping out of your comfort zone may be beneficial for personal growth or to provide a balance; after all, opposites do attract.

Obviously, you may encounter difficulties while living with others, and finding the right roommate can be a long and daunting task. However, keeping open communication with all your roommates will provide the best experience for everyone. And who knows, your next roommate may become a lifelong friend. n
