Safe rooms available for emergency situations Residence Life has spare rooms on campus to help students cope with severe scenarios like stalking, roommate disagreements just like your rooms,” Waters said. “[Students] can take whatever [they] want from their current room; they would definitely want to bring sheets and blankets.” When going to a safe room, students are issued a temporary key and their personal entry devices are activated appropriately, Waters said. The process of using the safe rooms starts when a problem arises and the hall director is notified.
Students can’t ask for safe rooms, but will be provided one if a situation warrants it. “These are for staff to use at their discretion when we have a situation that comes up that can’t be dealt with,” Waters said. “This is not something that students get to come up and ask for.” Once notified of the situation, the hall director will contact the front desk of the hall the student will go

Campus hosts annual ‘human vs. zombies’ game this week
Fate has recently shifted to the zombies’ favor, as they currently outnumber the humans on campus, 329 to 181. The latest round of BG Undead recently began at the University. BG Undead President Frank Welter describes the popular “humans vs. zombies” game as “a big game of tag.” Each semester, a new game begins at midnight on a Wednesday and lasts eight days. Play is held within the campus borders 24 hours a day, Welter said. While time spent as either human or zombie varies, Welter said his time has “been human or zombie 50 percent of the time.”

Located intermittently throughout University residence halls are empty rooms called “safe rooms.” These rooms are reserves for residents to use temporarily in an emergency situation. “We put some rooms on hold if we need to switch people or do room changes,” said Sarah Waters, director of residence life. “If there is a
stalker situation or something going on and we need to get [a student] to a space ... there are hold rooms across campus.” This year there are four to six safe rooms on campus. Usually there are three rooms on the west and three rooms on the east sides of campus, Waters said. The rooms have basic amenities, including a bed and a dresser. “Some hold rooms we have are
The University will host the 10th annual Blood Bowl against the University of Toledo from Nov. 7 to 10. Students who register for the Red Cross-sponsored bowl by Friday will be eligible to win a $100 Walmart gift card. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code “BGSU.” The Blood Bowl is still accepting volunteers. Those who are interested in volunteering can call Heather Haynes at 419-351-2921. The University has defeated UT in the Blood Bowl in seven of nine past competitions. Last year students donated more than 500 units of blood to help save more than 1,500 lives, according to an email sent by University officials on Tuesday.

Across from Taco Bell on Wooster Street stands the office of Advanced Fingerprinting Services, a company specializing in different types of background checks. Julie Cope, trusted agent at Advanced Fingerprinting Services, said the company does BCI and FBI fingerprinting, ink rolled fingerprinting, background checks, drivers checks, sex offender checks and drug testing. Students often use their services for electronic or ink-rolled fingerprinting, Cope said.
The company has been at the Wooster address since April 2009, but also has an office in Marietta and other locations. “We were looking between Bowling Green and Findlay and that seemed ideal,” Cope said. In addition to students, local businesses also use the services provided by Cope and her co-workers — some include Interim Health Care, Brookdale Senior Living and JB Roofing in Tiffin. Stone Ridge Golf Course also enlists the help of Advanced Fingerprinting Services for drug testing, said Joann Whittaker, course accountant. A client since the beginning
