The new common room space will look to create a more mature environment for the sixth formers, closer to a working or university environment. To create this the design will focus on a muted colour palette, to offset natural timber and planting. This biophillic approach will create a calming environment for the students to study and socialise in. The space will be split into different zones to allow for different methods of learning and socialisation to occur simultaneously. To maintain the openess of the room, the zones will be divided using ‘light’ introductions such as bespoke timber partitions or soft furnishings. This theme will then continue into the design of the cafe to create a seamless experience for the students.
